Bug#650720: openvpn: improve documentation of down-root plugin

2011-12-02 Thread Nicolas Chauvat
Package: openvpn
Version: 2.1.3-2
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I may be dense, but it took me a while to understand that starting from
a working setup running as root and dropping priviledges to
nobody/nogroup, I could not just replace

up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv.conf
down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv.conf

with

up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv.conf
plugin /usr/lib/openvpn/openvpn-down-root.so /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf

The reason the latter does not work is that the script does not get the
down argument passed to it, hence does nothing (see case switch in
source of script).

To get it working, you have to modify update-resolv-conf to execute the
down behavior by default, or to create another script
/etc/openvpn/down.sh that will call update-resolv-conf $@ down.

I suppose my use case is fairly common and could be documented in the
/usr/share/doc/openvpn/README.down-root for example, to save time for the next
one running into the problem.

Bug#629647: udev: keymap and rule to get microsoft natural keyboard zoom key to work

2011-06-08 Thread Nicolas Chauvat
Package: udev
Version: 164-3
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I edited /lib/udev/rules.d/95-keymap.rules to add:

ENV{ID_VENDOR}==Microsoft, ENV{ID_MODEL_ID}==00db, RUN+=keymap $name
microsoft-natural-keyboard-4000

in the section keyboard_usbcheck, then created the keymap file:

$ cat /lib/udev/keymaps/microsoft-natural-keyboard-4000
0xc022d zoomin
0xc022e zoomout

then loaded the above with /lib/udev/keymap and that was enough to get
the zoom key working.

I suppose the above rule and keymap could be added to the udev package
for other users of this keyboard to benefit from the zoom key without
having to do the research themselves.

Bug#457075: Question on Salome package organization

 Well done for this packaging!

Yep, nice job.

One more argument: we could plug Aster into Salome thanks to pylotage.

If we are lucky, it could even make it for Squeeze!

+1, let's try to get it into squeeze. It will mean more users and
developers, even though the packaging changes completely for squeeze+1.

If it is to be hosted on python-science.org, please make it a hg repo

hg.python-science.org is already operationnal.

Bug#505695: pbuilder keeps silent when it fails copying files to --buildresult

2008-11-14 Thread Nicolas Chauvat
Package: pbuilder
Version: 0.183
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

I happen to have my --buildresult directory in ~/dist with /home NFS-mounted
with rootsquash. On the host on which I build the package root cannot write to
my home directory. It took me some time to realize that 'sudo pbuilder' had not
the permission to write there because /usr/lib/pbuilder/pbuilder-buildpackage
reads:

  cp -p ${BUILDPLACE}/tmp/buildd/* ${BUILDRESULT} 2/dev/null || true

I have no idea why || true was deemed a good idea, but I suggest to fix the
above issue by
removing it, since it will print out a message when cp fails.

I tried with debian mercurial, but it did not work out of the box.

In any case, it should be included in the next mercurial release so it will
be in the corresponding debian package.
But if it can be used with 0.9.4, I can do a debian release (0.9.4-2) that
 adds this extension.

when is the next mercurial release planned for ?

http://www.selenic.com/mercurial/wiki/index.cgi/RoadMap only mentions
1.0 and has no target date for it.

I will try to find time to backport 'record' to 0.9.4 and let you know
when I am done, but can't commit to a date at the moment.

In /var/lib/dpkg/info/llvm.prerm I read:

if [ $1 = purge ]

and in man update-binfmts I read:

 --remove name path
Remove the binary format identified by name with interpreter

Not sure what 'path' is supposed to be, but update-binfmts obviously
does not expect it to be 'llvm' in this case.

changing the link named fonts in /usr/lib/X11 from

solved my problem. I do not know whether this is the right fix or not

Works for me. You can close the bug as far as I am concerned.

Thank you.

Importing fuse used to work but broke with my last upgrade. I suspect
recompiling the package

Bug#174639: python-reportlab: unable to find fonts

2005-11-10 Thread Nicolas Chauvat

 Hi,

the paths defined in rl_config.py are searched subsequently and actually
include at least one valid font path for debian (%(REPORTLAB_DIR)s/fonts).
I think the current reportlab version does not suffer from this issue, if
you think it still does - please post a followup to this report (or reopen
the report if I've already closed it).

Please patch reportlab/rl_config.py in the debian package to include
the Type1 fonts installed in the system by adding at least the
following line to the T1SearchPath tuple:

/usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1

I suggest you add it before %(REPORTLAB_DIR)s/fonts.

For your information, my install still complains about missing
Times-Roman font even though I do not try to use it. I will add info
here when I get some more.

Thanks in advance.

I assume that's a different error. Could you post that as well?

Nope. Got it severall times in a row the day I posted. But can not

I can't reproduce that. In any way. It works fine here (except the known
crash with CJK locales but this is not the case here and not a segfault
 anyway)

Finally it appears that the problem was with my Xorg config that
included dri but dri didn't work. OOo segfaulted when reading
/dev/dri/card14. glxinfo segfaulted too. Commenting out dri solved
my problem. I'll get back later to solving the xorg/dri problem on my
setup.

I also get a stack trace when trying to use the web interface at
bootchart.org btw...

I suppose it could be a problem with my java install, but since I only
use packages from the unstable archive and did not add anything by
hand, if there is a problem with my install, some Conflicts: are
missing.

What can I do to help ?

Hi,

This is to say that current version of qc-usb-source will not get a
Logitech Quickcam Messenger (aka USB ID 046d:08f0) to work, but driver
source at http://www.ee.oulu.fi/~tuukkat/quickcam/messenger/ will. I
have tried version 0.8 of the driver and just ran the quickcam.sh script.

Any chance to get this included as another package or in the upstream tree ?
