Bug#735424: Only blank screen after system-upgrade from wheezy to jessie
Hi, I have the same problem with HP Compaq nx9105. Wheezy worked well. After fresh install of Jessie, only black screen. From the X.org log it seems that none of the graphic drivers worked. According to lspci, the video is NV17M Geforce4 420 Go 32M. Is there something to do in order to make Jessie run on this machine? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#633651: Is this bug still here?
Hello, Chris Thank You for Your interest. I stopped updating the domain server, beacuse in production I couldn't afford any further breakage. I can confirm, that by 95% probability, the bug is caused by the samba or related libraries on the domain server. We have two other samba file servers, and I attempted to reinstal one of them from the older DVD's, however this dosen't help and clients still couldn't delete files on that server. Then I also tested full update on that server, and nothing gets better of worse. Since then I regularly update both fileservers with no difference (avoiding update on domain server). Even SLES client cannot delete files on them, and it has other samba version indeed (3.4.3-1.17.2-2359-SUSE-CODE11). It is interesting, that on domain server itself, the samba file services work well - one can delete files even with samba/linux client. However, in one instance, even from WindowsXP client, OpenOffice.org cannot rewrite file it created. It is strange, because this affects just one share, that is not mounted as local disk (accessed as network path instead), and OpenOffice is accessed from Visual Foxpro app. So it could be the difference in function used to access file, or difference in using the network share itself... I plan reinstalling/migrating the domain server, so that I could first test the new updates, and then switch to other machine with old versions installed, however, this is peculiar thing to do and I hesitate to do that, and I even don't have time right now to engage in such a risky business. The very reinstallation is just one part of problem - preparing data and services for worst case scenarios being the bigger one, and accomodating appropriate off-service time the other. Do You have any idea? Peter Dňa 10.05.2012 22:19, Christian PERRIER wrote / napísal(a): Hello Peter, This very strange bug where a security update introduced a big regression where linux clients can no longer delete files was finally not really investigated by us...mostly because it was really puzzling. Since you had this problem, there have been other updates to Debian squeeze packages of samba? Did by any chance one of these solve (mysteriously) that problem? Or did the problem go away by itself? Or did you stop updating that server? Or did something else happen? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#633651: [Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#633651: Bug#633651: samba: Regression after security update - linux client unable to delete files
I connect using command: mount -t cifs Trying also from Lenny and SLES 11SP1 without success. Activated loglevel 10, created file test.txt, attempted to delete it. Sending log as attachement. I found something interesting. The bug only affects the server that has security=domain and is an ordinary fileserver in Samba domain. When trying on machine that is both file and domain server (has security=user), everything works OK. What is the method you use to connect? Are you using smbclient on the client machine? Or maybe the graphical environment interface (from Gnome or KDE, use the graphical interface to connect to the SMB resource)? Are you in position to use another client, with different versions of whatever is used to connect to the samba server (for instance, a Debian lenny system). Yes, I have investigated the logs and found nothing special (although I don't understand how is the SID supposedly invalid.) Indeed. Could you try increasing the log level (I guess you have log level = 3 right now?)? level 10 is the most detailed level but that produces a huge amount of logging and it might be tricky to excerpt the exact part when the client-side failure occurs. debug.log.bz2 Description: application/bzip attachment: tuharsky.vcf

I type here just what is going on for bnx2 and I will not put here messages for another hw that needs firmwaremessages, qla2xxx 11:04:56 kernel: Broadcom Nextreme II Gigabit Ethernet Driver bnx2 v1.7.4 (Feburary 18, 2008) 11:04:56 kernel: bnx2: Can't load firmware file bnx2-06-4.0.5.fw 11:04:56 kernel: bnx2: probe of :02:03.0 failed with error -2 11:04:56 kernel: bnx2: Can't load firmware file bnx2-06-4.0.5.fw 11:04:56 kernel: bnx2: probe of :02:04.0 11:06:13 check-missing-firmware: missing firmware files (ql2400_fw.bin bnx2-06-4.0.5.fw) for qlaxxx bnx2 11:13:50 kernel: FAT: utf8 is not a recommended IO charset for FAT filesystems, filesystem will be case sensitive! It seems for me, that it simply fails to mount the USB pendrive. Anyhow, the partition of course resides on /dev/sda1, not on /dev/sda! So I don't wonder it fails. Well, I tested daily build from 20080729, and yes, the installer prompts for these files. However, I can't figure out, how could I give it to him. I have put them on the root of usb pendrive, they are exactly the files that he needs, and it still asks for them again and again. Could you look closely at the syslog (Alt+F4, or Alt+F2 and /var/log/syslog) for firmware related issues? You can also edit (using nano) /bin/check-missing-firmware and add a set -x at the beginning of the script. This will trace its execution in the syslog. Bug#492878: lenny installer -dosen't detect Broadcom ethernet adapter
Bingo! It is really the mount issue! I just manually mounted /dev/sda1 to /media and whoila, the firmware is found now! Maybe the script dosen't try to mount the sd{a|b|c}1, just the sd{a|b|c} and therefore it must fail! Bug#492878: lenny installer -dosen't detect Broadcom ethernet adapter
Package: debian-installer Version: 20080522 I'm testing the Lenny weekly build 2008-07-21, and the installer fails to detect Broadcom network adapter, that Etch has had no problem with. I have several machines like this HP BL465, and Debian is anticipated to run on them, so please, fix the detection ;-) I don't know, whether it has something to do with, but I choosed not to run PCMCIA, however I have been asked immediately for PCMCIA parameters. Before the network detection, again. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#479769: clamav - startup DB loading takes 14 minutes on dual Opteron machine
Package: clamav Version: 0.90.1dfsg-3etch11 It takes Clamav 14 minutes to start up (load DB files). The machine is dual Opteron with 4GB RAM. Upgrading clamav together with all libraries to 0.92.1 from volatile resolves the problem and startup takes seconds. Libraries that need upgrade to 0.92.1: clamav, clamav-base, clamav-daemon, clamav-freshclam, libclamav2, libclamav3 After upgrade, Clamav won't start if parameter NodalCoreAcceleration is present in clamav.conf -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#471796: amavisd-new dosen't load anti-virus nor anti-spam by default, comments misleading
Package: amavisd-new Version: 1:2.4.2-6.1 I'm running Debian 4.0R3 Etch amd64. I have configured amavisd-new to work as content_filter in the postfix. I have installed spamassassin and clamav-daemon too. The clamd and spamd are running, however the Amavisd-new reports ANTI-VIRUS code NOT loaded ANTI-SPAM-SA code NOT loaded I really didn't understand, why. I have checked the clamd socket settings -they're alright. I've done minimal changes to the configuration. The mail.log shows that mail goes thru amavis regularily. However, diggind thru docs I have found mention of /usr/share/amavis files. I looked at the conf.d/20-package there and has been suspicious about the two @bypass parameters, that has been set to (1). And really, THERE the whole problem lays. Since in the regular config in /etc/amavis/conf.d/15-content-filter-mode these lines are COMMENTED, the defaults are taken from /usr/share/amavis! So, even if user dosen't UNCOMMENT these lines (as the comment-description says) in order to SWITCH OFF the content filtering, they ARE unblocked anyway by default, so that the filtering is DISABLED! Only by uncommenting these two lines and setting to () in /etc/amavis/15-content-filter-mode config, I has been able to enable the anti-virus and anti-spam checks! Either the comments near these lines in config should reflect this (tell the admin, that in order to ENABLE anti-spam and anti-virus checks, he must uncomment the lines and set them to (), or the configs in /usr/share/amavis should enable the checks to allow admin to disable them manually by uncommenting the lines, as the comments say. Bug#471796: amavisd-new dosen't load anti-virus nor anti-spam by default, comments misleading
Hi. I would add something at the very beginning of 15-content_filter_mode, like: # Please note, that anti-virus and anti-spam checking is DISABLED by default. # If You wish to enable it, please uncomment the following lines: . . Peter # # Default antivirus checking mode # Uncomment the two lines below to enable it back # and in README.Debian: amavisd-new does not depend on any antivirus, so antivirus checking is not enabled by default. It also does not depend on spamassassin, so spam checking is not enabled by default. They are turned off in /usr/share/amavis/conf.d/20-package. To enable them, edit /etc/amavis/conf.d/15-content_filter_mode. So every documentation about that behaviour is there. So I don't see a problem here. If you think the the comments should be rephrased or the docs should be enhanced please send me a patch or tipps how to enhance it. There I will downgrade this bug to wishlist. If you disagree with me you are free to discuss this here. Thanks Alex -- Odchádzajúca správa neobsahuje vírusy, nepoužívam Windows. === Mgr. Bug#454132: findimagedupes -strange results when using fp database
package: findimagedupes version: 0.2-2 I'm trying to find dupes using -a mode (only compare files specified in commandline). It works well. However when I try to speed it up by creating the database, using -a -r --fp=file I get strange results. It finds a dupe, however it repeats the same result later again, and later again, many times. Other words, the dupe that has been already found, it reports later, during comparison of totally different files! And it is doing this repeatedly. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#452230: squid -missing argument in init script
package: squid version: 2.6.5-6 At row 91 of /etc/init.d/squid, there is command $DAEMON -z for creating cache spool directory. However, there should be $DAEMON $SQUID_ARGS -z instead. I have created tandem (dual-squid) configuration where first squid manages security tests and the second manages the cache. With original line, it obviously cannot work, because in parameter $SQUID_ARGS there are config and pidfile paths. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
