Bug#298840: mozilla-thunderbird: Sent folder looks empty, crashes when building Summary file

I'm afraid the problem is with using/killing Thunderbird while .msf is created. But I'll try split my Sent to smaller pieces... No, if this is 100% reproducible this way, you won't need that. Please just try to verify which operations make thunderbird to segfault during rebuild and if it *never* segfaults if you just don't do nothing at startup (even try to disable auto-download of mails). Nevertheless, so after recreating Sent.msf your sent box is healed? Any news on this bug? Could you verify that this is 100$ reproducible? -- GPG messages preferred. | .''`. ** Debian GNU/Linux ** Alexander Sack| : :' : The universal [EMAIL PROTECTED] | `. `' Operating System http://www.asoftsite.org | `-http://www.debian.org/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Package: mozilla-thunderbird Version: 1.0-3 Severity: important Thunderbird begun to be crashy: 1. First Cannot copy to Sent folder messages appeared occasionally when sending mail. 2. Sent folder suddenly begun to look empty. 3. When moved Sent.msf to /tmp; Mozilla Thunderbird SegFaults on trying to summarize it. Alexander Sack wrote: It is global inbox. All accounts are POP3. Just downloaded Mozilla's compile installed in $HOME and it works. are all mails stored on the server anyways? No, all is local. maybe you can test it with a new profile in thunderbird too? I think I was wrong about not occuring in Mozilla's compile. I checked pristine Mozilla's compile of Thunderbird with Enigmail. I just copied the Sent folder to Local Folders and deleted Sent.msf. Problem occurs. Not sure if it is fully deterministic but took just 2-3 runs of Thunderbird to appear (and never recover). The same for Debian :-(. Should I forward upstream? -- Pozdrawiam Michal J. The same for Debian :-(. Should I forward upstream? not yet... just to be sure, have you tried to take the measures provided in /usr/share/doc/mozilla-thunderbird/README.Debian ? how does your sent file look like? maybe there is some unexpected garbage in it? Maybe you want to track down if the problem is existent even if you just keep a single mail in it? Maybe it is some mail causing this problem. To track this down, try to create smaller partial Sent folders and copy them to the Local Folders directory. Remeber to back up your original send folder to a safe place, though :) -- GPG messages preferred. | .''`. ** Debian GNU/Linux ** Alexander Sack | : :' : The universal [EMAIL PROTECTED] | `. `' Operating System http://www.jwsdot.com/ | `-http://www.debian.org/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
