Good news: On closer inspection, the omitted symbols turned out all to
be inline, internal, private, or some combination, so their absence
should be no problem in practice. I do still have a few more details to
attend to before I can upload the new release, though.

I've pushed a rough cut of 1.3.3 packaging to my usual Alioth
repository. I haven't tested it beyond confirming that it builds.

or we could check if may be none of rdepends use any of those (and their
rebuild might be the only thing needed to stay safe)? I could run
quickly rebuild of all build/rdepends if you gimme perspective package
which doesn't even bring up the dead things alive? ;)

Don't worry, no offense taken. What does concern me is that, despite
claiming to be ABI-compatible with previous 1.3.x releases by default,
1.3.3 omits some symbols that they defined. (I guess FLTK's developers
consider it sufficient to preserve class and virtual table layouts.)

As such, I'm tempted to go ahead and activate assorted new features that
are disabled by default to avoid totally breaking ABI compatibility, as
described at http://www.fltk.org/cmp.php#FLTK_ABI_VERSION. I would then
of course rename the runtime library packages accordingly, calling for a
trip through NEW.

I was of the same opinion for a while as well (until the
monolithic patch grew out of hands for the fail2ban package ;) )
It is just that some changes seems to be dealt with upstream
already but there is no easy way (besides may be inspecting git log) to
see how those conflicts need to be resolved.

But what I wanted to say is just thanks for maintaining and use whatever
means you find most comfortable for you -- My cry was out of the
moment of weakness I guess ;)

Cheers!

Thanks for pointing it out, and sorry you've been finding my packaging
approach hard to deal with -- for my part, I've always found patch
systems unnecessarily cumbersome, especially when sources are already
under conventional version control.

2015-07-03 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
Package: libfltk1.3-dev
Version: 1.3.2-6+b1
Severity: wishlist

They introduced new API which current tigervnc relies upon (I see at least
having fullscreen_screens needed: "- Support for full screen windows over
multiple monitors."). It would be nice if fltk in debian got updated.

Thanks in advance!
