Bug#585409: Announcing the month of wine/wine-unstable NMUs

2012-04-20 Thread Michael Gilbert
Hi,

I have decided to go ahead and work toward solving bug #585409 (the
please package wine 1.2 series bug).

As I am not a package maintainer, I will be using my power as a DD to
push NMUs. I think this work qualifies as an Other NMU according to
the Developers Reference section 5 (which requires at least a 10 day
delay), so I have started by uploading wine-unstable 1.1.37-0.1 to the
DELAYED/10 queue. As Ove had a requirement to package each new 1.1.x
release at a maximum rate of one per day, I will also be uploading
each of the subsequent versions to the following versions DELAYED/11,
DELAYED/12, and so on. Each changelog entry will state
Non-maintainer upload. I will only make the essential changes
needed to get the each new version working, and there will be no
cosmetic changes.

Seeing as the debdiffs for this work are far too unwieldy to attach
usefully as a patch, I am instead including a link to my personal wine
vcs, which was originally cloned directly from the existing alioth
wine repo:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=users/mgilbert/wine.git

Here is the schedule:
4/20/2012 (today) begin uploads to DELAYED/10 and greater
5/01/2012 wine-unstable 1.1.37 enters unstable
5/02/2012 wine-unstable 1.1.38 enters unstable

It turned out that I had a legacy path in my PATH, like :~staff/...:.
I think it's OK to emit a warning in such a case, but a crash is a bit
too harsh. My Ruby is nonexistent atm, so there's no patch.

Kind regards,

Bug#669651: login: failing to update utmp at console.

2012-04-20 Thread Mats Erik Andersson
Package: login
Version: 1:4.1.5-1
Severity: serious

The recent update of 'login' is no longer able to
make an entry in /var/run/utmp for any user logging
in via a virtual terminal, i.e., text console, on my
linux-i386 system. Downgrading to 1:4.1.4.2+svn3283-3
restores this vital element of system management.

Please, take care to examine effects on WTMP and UTMP
also for text consoles henceforth. I have repaired some
terminal emulators myself, but login must never be
misbehaving.

El 20 d’abril de 2012 8:47, Petr Salinger petr.salin...@seznam.cz ha escrit:

freebsd process, the wakeup signal is sent to thread manager from kernel,

In current variant, with thread implemented as freebsd kernel thread,
the wakeup signal is sent to thread manager from userspace, a few moments
before exit. It is an expected race condition. It is also the reason, why
 || main_thread_exiting have been added. I expected, that loss of a
wakeup does not matter, the child thread will be eaten only slightly
later, when another thread exits and sends wake up. The only problem should
be, when there is no another thread, it should be solved by
 || main_thread_exiting. But it does not suffice.

The try eat dead child everytime is just workaround.

Yep, eating dead children everytime doesn't sound like the cleanest
option to me either ;-)

The better way might be to add atomic counter
[using gcc's __sync_fetch_and_add()] to track the number of expected dead
or soon to be dead child
and try to eat dead child when the number is above zero.

Thanks for the heads-up. I notice you already fixed this in pkg-glibc
SVN. Maybe it's not worth improving further... (IMHO time would be
better spent on NPTL).

Thank you!

Bug#562134: ncurses-base: Please include terminfo entry for bterm

2012-04-20 Thread Sven Joachim
This is about an old request to include the bterm terminfo entry in
ncurses-base or ncurses-term. I don't think the former makes much
sense, but the latter would be possible. It requires coordinated
uploads of ncurses and bogl, though.

Taking over the bterm terminfo entry from bogl-bterm in ncurses-term
would be possible, but given bogl-bterm's very low popcon I don't think
  it would be very useful.

Perhaps bogl-bterm should be updated to use the terminfo entry from
ncurses introduced in the 20091226 patch. Outside the Debian installer
bterm does not seem to be of much use.

OK, that makes sense. It looks like ncurses doesn't ship that terminfo
entry, though (perhaps to avoid conflicting with bterm?).

There are some terminfo entries that are blacklisted in ncurses and
shipped from the terminal emulator's package instead. I'm not sure in
which cases this is actually the best solution. For bterm there
actually had been no terminfo entry in the ncurses source when you
 submitted the bug.

Perhaps ncurses could start shipping that terminfo entry, and bterm
could stop shipping it and add an appropriate versioned dependency?

This is what we are going to do for mlterm, see #485448. But bterm will
have to continue shipping its terminfo entry at least in the udeb.

Attached are patches for ncurses to include the bterm terminfo entry
in ncurses-term and for bogl to depend on the new ncurses-term version.
As for the udeb, I vote for installing the ncurses-term version there as
well, meaning that bogl needs to build-depend on ncurses-term.

Samuel, do you think that is a good plan?

Cheers,
   Sven

Bug#669657: [PATCH] gkermit: Helping to update to packaging format 3.0

2012-04-20 Thread jari . aalto
Package: gkermit
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi,

The dpatch patch management system has been deprecated for some time. The
Lintian currently flags use of dpatch packages as an error. The new 3.0
packaging format is an improved version which, among other things, contains
patch management built-in. For more information, see:

http://wiki.debian.org/Projects/DebSrc3.0

I had some free time; see attached patch to migrate to new package
format. Note that all files in debian/patches/* are canocalized to
*.patch.

Notes:

The original soures were restored and local changes moved to
patch 00:

gcmdline.c
gkermit.c
gkermit.nr
gunixio.c
gwart.c
makefile

Let me know if there is anything that needs adjusting or if it is ok
to upload this version in a NMU in case you are working on other
issues needing attention.

Thanks,
Jari

gnome-control-panel package was removed by a aptitude upgrade at some
time. After reinstalling this, everything works fine...

And you also failed to send the above mail so it actually gets recorded

Actually that said - I am not sure this is the same bug as the text rendering

so make decides that it needs to rebuild buildvm_ppcspe.h, which fails.

I don't know why it's the case on my system but not on yours, but I also do not
see any reason why this should not happen.

  Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
  amd64.

 Hi Lucas,

This is very strange, especially this part:

  configure:5243: checking for FT2
  configure:5250: $PKG_CONFIG --exists --print-errors freetype2
Package freetype2 was not found in the pkg-config search path.

  configure:5284: result: no
  No package 'freetype2' found
configure:5300: error: You must have libfreetype-dev for Free Type 2

This should not happen, since libfreetype6-dev is mentioned in the

Besides, the package compiles cleanly at Debian, please check
 http://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=lebiniou

Have you checked yourself?!
I can reproduce the failure. Please send a fresh log and a diff with
mine to the bug report, if you still cannot reproduce this.

Bug#669658: [plasma-desktop] plasma-desktop segfaults when Notebook wakes up from suspend-to-ram

2012-04-20 Thread Karsten Kruse
Package: plasma-desktop
Version: 4:4.7.4-2
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I usually just close my Notebook (Thinkpad X61) at work, put it in my
backpack and go home. At home i just open it, plug in power and network
an continue working. During the transport the sleep-LED (a half moon) is
on, the system is suspended to ram, not to disk.

Every now an then plasma-desktop segfaults when i open the notebook.
Plasma-desktop gets restarted instantly, so i can continue working.
Still, it sucks.

It segfaults about one time in three, the time in hibernation doesn't
seem to matter.

I run my own Kernel, but have the same problem with Debian testings Kernel.

This is the backtrace i get from Drkonqui:

The -p option should work now with upgrades in *unstable* systems too as
   old
libraries are detected and found in (newer) library upgrades. It seems to
work properly in my unstable desktop when I upgrade some libraries.

Could you give it a try?

  It currently crashes for me:

Just to make sure this is not a problem with the script, could you please
 apply the

Hi Bastiaan,

please rework your changelog. Only by reading the changelog I wouldn't
know why it would be appropriate to NMU it. Did you try to contact the
maintainer? The problem was reported yesterday.

There is a typo. Moreover, you should mention the two bugs this fixes.

   * upgrade to standards-version 3.9.3

don't do this in a NMU.

Please send an updated package and I'll see what I can do, given I broke
it at the first place.

Bug#669661: tightvnc-java: Port number should be absolute, not relative

2012-04-20 Thread Anton Eliasson
Package: tightvnc-java
Version: 1.2.7-8
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
The syntax for the VNC viewer is this:
$ vncviewer host:port
but for some reason the port number is given relative to the standard VNC port
5900, but this is noted nowhere in either the manpage or when executing the
program with the --help parameter. So, when you happily try to connect to an
alternative port such as 5901, you actually end up connecting to
5900+5901=11801. Pardon my french, but this is completely retarded. No other
program I know of takes the port number as something relative. Expected
behaviour is this:
vncviewer localhost:5901
localhost 5901

but now you get this:
vncviewer localhost:5901
localhost 11801

The fact that vncviewer completely lacks built-in documentation only makes this
worse.

Bug#669662: [PATCH] prosper: Helping to update to packaging format 3.0

2012-04-20 Thread jari . aalto
Package: prosper
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi,

The dpatch patch management system has been deprecated for some time. The
Lintian currently flags use of dpatch packages as an error. The new 3.0
packaging format is an improved version which, among other things, contains
patch management built-in. For more information, see:

http://wiki.debian.org/Projects/DebSrc3.0

I had some free time; see attached patch to migrate to new package
format. Note that all files in debian/patches/* are canocalized to
*.patch.

Let me know if there is anything that needs adjusting or if it is ok
to upload this version in a NMU in case you are working on other
issues needing attention.

Thanks,
Jari

Hi,

petitboot is currently uninstallable on mips{,el}, sparc and s390x.
This is because it depends on kexec-tools, which does not exist on those
architectures.

Bug#669664: stgit: a CommitData::parse() assertion fails on a mergetag commit

2012-04-20 Thread Paul Walmsley

Package: stgit
Version: 0.15-1.1
Severity: important

In stgit, a CommitData::parse() assertion fails when parsing a mergetag
commit:

Hi Bastiaan,

please rework your changelog. Only by reading the changelog I wouldn't know why
it would be appropriate to NMU it. Did you try to contact the maintainer? The
problem was reported yesterday.

   * apache2-dev is releplaced by apache2-threaded-dev

There is a typo. Moreover, you should mention the two bugs this fixes.

   * upgrade to standards-version 3.9.3

don't do this in a NMU.

Please send an updated package and I'll see what I can do, given I broke it at
the first place.

so make decides that it needs to rebuild buildvm_ppcspe.h, which fails.

I don't know why it's the case on my system but not on yours, but I also do
 not
see any reason why this should not happen.

I don't know, too. May be You use some buildup over ext[3-4]? or
 special mount optins? Hgm...

I use tmpfs. But tarantool would be the first package to exhibit a tmpfs
 problem.

I think You can have problem in some packages that should restart
auto[make/conf] if source files are changed.

It seems that a few years ago someone filed such bugreport about
fluxbox. Since that it contains autoconf and (or) automake in its
B-D in spit of it doesn't need.

But in tarantool I can't do so because tarantool uses old versions of
lua. Upstream has plans to migrate to current version, but it just is
a plan.

What is the version of tar You use?

 everything is plain unstable.

It breaks many package builds on s390x and it's broken on an

I’m looking at http://bugs.debian.org/645530 and I’m wondering if the

 a small example.

Yes it still exists.

Consider the following bibtex file:
$ cat biblio.bib
@misc{ref,
author = {Somebody},
title = {Test reference},
year = {2012}
}

and the following input

$ cat test.txt
[@ref] is very interesting!

The expected output of pandoc --bibliography=biblio.bib test.txt is:

pspan class=citation(Somebody 2012)/span is very interesting!/p
pSomebody. 2012. “Test reference.”/p

Without libghc-citeproc-hs-data (same version as citeproc-hs pandoc
was build against) installed, the command never returns.

Actually, I suspect that file and related code is some leftover code, as

But I might be wrong, as this happened a long time ago.

Bug#669665: guake: Very slow tab switch and refresh

2012-04-20 Thread Sébastien Dinot
Package: guake
Version: 0.4.2-8
Severity: normal

Dear maintainers,

Guake is impacted by the following bug but this bug is not specific to Guake. I
don't know where is the best place for this report.

Since few weeks, the tab switch, refresh and scrolling in Guake are very slow
(between 1 and 3 seconds). This issue affects XFCE and Gnome terminals too but
not mrxvt terminal or GUI applications like Iceweasel.

For example, if I launch the command time ls /usr/bin in:

* Guake terminal (full screen):
   time returns:
   real 0m7.803s
   user 0m0.024s
   sys 0m0.024s
but the listing takes more than 16 s.

* Gnome terminal (full screen):
   time returns:
   real 0m6.047s
   user 0m0.032s
   sys 0m0.016s
but the listing takes more than 14 s.

* XFCE Terminal (full screen):
   time returns:
   real 0m5.729s
   user 0m0.024s
   sys 0m0.020s
but the listing takes more than 13 s.

* mrxvt (full screen):
   time returns:
   real0m0.061s
   user0m0.016s
   sys 0m0.032s
and the listing is instantaneous !!!

This slowness is painful because I use a lot of terminals for everyday tasks
and I can't fall back on mrxvt because it does not support UTF-8.

I would be really delighted if you could correct this bug.

Thanks in advance.

Sébastien

the python3 transition in debian is, thanks to upstream, just running

I have committed my invasive patch to svn with an additional

Hi,

these bugs are actually duplicates caused by me, as I dropped the
virtual dev package provided by apache2.

It is probably not worth an upload/NMU all alone since the apache2
package is hopefully going to be transitioned soon. That will require
(other) changes on this package anyway. If someone wants to fix _this_
problem, one would just need to replace the build-dependency to
apache2-dev by apache2-threaded-dev.

When the VNC server asks for authentication, Vinagre asks the user for the

connects to the same host.

Could you please test the latest version 3.4 and try to reproduce the
problem there.
I can reproduce this in 3.4.0-1, the latest version in Testing as of
writing. Last dist-upgrade was yesterday, I think.

Are you running a GNOME session? Is a /usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon
process running?

Yes, I use gnome-fallback/classic. gnome-keyring-daemon is running:
$ ps ax | grep gnome-keyring
 2408 ?Sl 0:00 /usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --daemonize
--login

20096 pts/0S+ 0:00 grep --color=auto gnome-keyring

I've investigated this further and these are my conclusions:
1. When connecting directly without using a bookmark, passwords are
never remembered, not even during the current session no matter if the
checkbox is checked or not.
2. When connecting via a bookmark, passwords are always remembered while
vinagre is running no matter if the checkbox is checked or not.

3. When connecting directly after (2), vinagre always asks for password.
4. Passwords are never stored to file.

These were made by connecting to localhost::5901 which was forwarded to
a remote computer using:

$ ssh -v -L 5901:localhost:5900 remote-domain-name

Agreed in reverting it for now.

Also, why was #659208 not closed when it was applied? Why was its added
file not fixed to use the same indentation as the rest of os-prober?
This seems badly handled all around.

I didn't close it because not the full patch has been applied;

The patch needs to be reworked to work with awk and also follow the
indenting code rules of os-prober (my fault in not catching it). Once
it is done we can apply it again.

Bug#669668: john: does not print status if started from a script?

2012-04-20 Thread Timo Juhani Lindfors
Package: john
Version: 1.7.3.1-1
Severity: normal

man john says While cracking, you can press any key for status but
for some reason this does not seem to work if I start john from a
shell script:

Steps to reproduce:
1) echo abc:0bee89b07a248e27c83fc3d5951213c1 testcase
2) /usr/sbin/john --format=raw-MD5 testcase
3) wait 10 seconds
4) hit enter
5) echo /usr/sbin/john --format=raw-MD5 testcase testcase.sh
6) bash testcase.sh
7) wait 10 seconds
8) hit enter

Expected results:
4 8) in both cases john prints the status every time you hit enter:

Loaded 1 password hash (Raw MD5 [raw-md5])
guesses: 0 time: 0:00:00:02 (3) c/s: 4728K trying: pm48ss - pm4239
guesses: 0 time: 0:00:00:03 (3) c/s: 5445K trying: p1zb2 - p18s4
guesses: 0 time: 0:00:00:05 (3) c/s: 5835K trying: sopybug - sopybro
guesses: 0 time: 0:00:00:07 (3) c/s: 6367K trying: mlbm0e - ml208b

Actual results:
4) works as expected
8) does not print anything

More info:
1) ls -l /proc/$(pidof john)/fd shows that /dev/tty is not open at all
   in step 8.

2) If I run john under strace it also does not print status when I hit
enter (also /dev/tty is not open).

Is that function defined somewhere on kfreebsd? If so, where? And
 shouldn't unistd.h pull that in?

No, the prototype is not defined anywhere,
the function is available mainly for linking of old code.

The key problem is that configure uses different set of CFLAGS
 compared to real build:

   checking for issetugid... yes

 and

error: implicit declaration of function 'issetugid'
 [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]

OK. I guess this could be solved by adding AC_CHECK_DECL in addition to
the existing AC_CHECK_FUNC and only using this function if both tests
succeed. I'll gladly take a patch, otherwise it'll wait until I can get
to this. Filing a bug for now...

YMMV, but I can imagine what a meter is (two thirds of my desks
width) and what a second is (count slowly to three), so a m/s
is more natural to me than km/h. It is hard for me to feel a
kilometer (666 times my desks width?) or an hour (count slowly
to 10800?). But this is surely different between people.

Thus km/h should at least kept as option for non-experts.

I wont mind, of course, nor would I mind Beaufort or knots :~)

Btw. hour is not an SI unit, and in science m/s and km/s
are typically used, km/h nor anything based on hours, are not.
It's OK to support any kind of units some people are used to or
like, but the scientific variant should be the default.

 Package: texlive-extra-utils

 Hello,

I tried to use pdfjoin which is part of TeX to join PDF document pages.

It turns out that when the first page of the document is slightly larger
than the rest of the pages this prevents pdfjam from producing usable
output. The first page has correct orientation but the following pages
 are rotated.

It seems that the undocumented parameter --rotate-oversized (set to
true) might be the culprit. However

 1) the parameter is not documented
 2) the pages are not oversized, they are undersized
 3) rotating the pages is in no way useful since they are actually the
same format (landscape). It would be only useful if rotating the page
would yield larger page size after fitting it to the output paper size.

 Attaching sample (empty) pages.

  $ pdfjoin --frame true  page1.pdf page2.pdf

pdfjam: This is pdfjam version 2.08.
pdfjam: Reading any site-wide or user-specific defaults...

I thought I did, but now I tried again: If I select Berlin, The

unexpectedly right. There is another option Berlin, (nothing
after the comma, which I assumed meant the by far largest
Berlin, Germany), which results in Berlin, South Africa.

Btw., it seems the weather plugins search mechanism is confusing
more things, e.g. when I enter a Berlin zip code (postal code,
Postleitzahl), such as 10111, only New York, NY (10111) is
returned. When I enter Berlin, there is a list of eight
Berlins with two letters behind, which I interprete as ISO
country codes: Berlin, GA in Gabon, Berlin, MA in Morocco,
Berlin, MD in the republic of Moldova etc. However, it seems,
that those Berlins do not exist at all.

w3c-sgml-lib 1.2-1 does provide/conflict/replace w3c-dtd-xhtml.

Yes and it is not present in 1.2-2. Nor does w3c-sgml-lib exist in
stable. So actually if we just let it go to testing everything would be
fine. ;-) Seriously I will not do that unless you are happy with it
and there are still backports and derivatives to worry about. Please
could you run this test. Uninstall w3c-dtd-xhtml and all its dependents
and reinstall wdg-html-validator with the latest chain. Does that have
any issues for you?

Please could you send me one or more HTML files that you would accept
as an objective test as whether wdg-html-validator is working and what
you expect as an output.

See end of transcript in my previous mail.

Sorry I was in too much of a hurry to see that before. Thanks.

Also what happens when you force through the installation of
w3c-dtd-xhtml version 1.2-2 and w3c-sgml-lib? Does
wdg-html-validator behave itself for you then?

update-xmlcatalog: error: entity already registered with a different value

  New value: [catalog=file:///etc/xml/w3c-dtd-xhtml.xml]

And in this state, no, validate does not work.

For me the nightmare scenario is that I just have to give up and make
w3c-sgml-lib and w3c-dtd-xhtml have mutual conflicts clauses because
they define the same entities. I think the Debian policy implies that in
that case both packages and all depeendencies should move to extra
priority which I think would be dreadful.

Bug#669672: wine-gecko-unstable: embeds xulrunner

2012-04-20 Thread Michael Gilbert
package: wine-gecko-unstable
severity: important
tag: security

Hi,

This package uses an embedded copy of xulrunner. This is bad practice
in terms of security support. I haven't really looked at how
complicated it would be to use the shared lib version of xulrunner,
but that would be far more ideal.

Best wishes,
Mike

Bug#669673: error when browsing deck

2012-04-20 Thread Falk Hueffner
Package: anki
Version: 1.2.9-2
Severity: normal

I have a deck with 266 cards at ankiweb. It was edited mostly with
AnkiDroid, I pretty much only used the desktop Anki to create a
three-field fact layout.

When I do Download personal deck and open the Browse Items window,
I get:

or your deck may have a problem.
To confirm it's not a problem with your deck, please restart

That error pops up repeatedly e.g. when selecting cards or searching
something. Also, some cards cannot be found in the browser. From
Ankidroid, everything seems fine.

If I do Check Database, I get

Problems found:
Recovered 52 cards with missing fact

Cards with corrupt or missing facts have been placed into new facts. Your
scheduling info and card content has been preserved, but the original layout of
the facts has been lost.

And indeed some cards have lost their layout, there were three-entry
facts but have been converted to two-entry. Again, on Ankidroid all
cards including these look fine.

Bug#669609: sponsorship-requests: NMU mod-gnutls/0.5.10-1.1

2012-04-20 Thread Arno Töll
Hi,

now, that you've updated your package I finally reviewed it. These are
my comments:

* Do not set urgency=high. There is no point in doing so unless you fix
a critical security issue.

* There is an invalid changelog.dch file left over. Please remove it.

* Do not modify previous changelog entries, especially not in NMUs. I
mean this hunk:

 mod-gnutls (0.5.10-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream release (Closes: #602957)

- -- Jack Bates ms...@freezone.co.uk Tue, 19 Jul 2011 09:38:29 -0700
+ -- Jack Bates ms...@freezone.co.uk Tue, 19 Jul 2011 09:38:29 -0700
+

* It's acceptable to update the DEP-5 URL since you are going to work on
the package anyway. However, mention this in your changelog.

* In the default-tls file, please remove extra white spaces (line 1,
line 4, line 41 and line 42)

* Remove the /doc alias and associated configuration from the
default-tls file. See DSA 2452-1 for more background on that

* Do not hard code the error log path in the very same file. Instead use
${APACHE_LOG_DIR} as a prefix. Likewise for the access.log.

Bug#642001: libblas.a

2012-04-20 Thread Julian Taylor
probably an atlas or numpy issue.
libatlas-base-dev removes the /usr/lib/libblas.a alternative symlink, I
don't know why.
and numpy.distutils searches for _d.so and .a files when in debug mode.
the shared one will always fail so it relies on static library to be there.
I guess numpy's searching of _d.so extensions should be fixed for non
python extensions.

Bug#668312: [Pkg-sysvinit-devel] Bug#668312: sysv-rc: hidden dotfile in /etc used as state file (/etc/init.d/.legacy-bootordering)

I don't see any other use of this file in any other packages such

Actually, I suspect that file and related code is some leftover code, as
I have vague memories of switching to using the existence of S* symlinks
in one of rc0.d or rc6.d to indicate that legacy boot ordering was in
 effect.

But I might be wrong, as this happened a long time ago.

From what I can see, it checks for S* symlinks, and then creates
.legacy-bootordering if it exists. The check in the prerm looked
bogus--it created the file before doing the reversion, so it wasn't
actually providing any real safety. I've made a shell function
to do the S* check, and used that in both places.

I hope this is OK with you.

Roger

It does part of it, i.e. it has an option Send To that can upload to
a variety of services. What it does not do currently is to return the URL.

I yesterday had filed a wishlist for the very same feature. You may
want to add yourself there.

Bug#616498: fityk: hangs / crashes with no explanation

2012-04-20 Thread Andres Cimmarusti
Hi there

I have a couple of newer versions built for squeeze in my archive at
  http://debian-xray.iit.edu

There is a 0.9.7 for i386 and a 0.9.8 for amd64.  You can try those before
 going to a testing distribution.

I've added your repo and installed the 0.9.8 amd64 package on one of
my Squeeze computers.
The segfault is gone. Now fityk correctly displays the error but does not quit.

I don't suppose this package can be updated in Squeeze?, the bug is
reasonably important. Also, the problems seem gone in newer versions
for the original reporter of this bug.

If, however, you just want to close the bug report, because it's
solved in 0.9.8 in wheezy that's ok by me (especially with the
existence of your repository).

Thanks

Andres

Bug#665814: iptables-persistent upgrade from 0.0.20100801 to 0.5.3 - incorrect runlevel

2012-04-20 Thread Andreas Rütten

tags 665814 + patch
thanks

There was a change of the default runlevel configuration between version
0.5.2 and 0.5.3 (#65001).

This leads to this problem for insserv during an upgrade from a version
= 0.5.2 to version 0.5.3 and above.

The attached patch fix this by removing the old runlevel configuration
during preinst so that the upgrade could create the new intended one
during postinst.

Cheers,
Andreas

Bug#669674: [LCFC] po://debian-history/fr.po

2012-04-20 Thread David Prévot
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Hi Filipus,

Le 20/04/2012 17:55, Filipus Klutiero a écrit :

 /usr/share/doc/debian-history/fr/ch-leaders.fr.html contains:

Stefano Zachhiroli a été élu en avril 2010 et est notre chef de projet
 actuel.

In Zachhiroli, chh should read c*c*h.
This problem does not affect the English version.

As already written in #668475: Filipus, please address similar issues
directly to the debian-l10n-french list so we can handle them properly
(package maintainers may not be in the best place to fix them), or at
least X-Debbugs-CC the list.

Since you failed to understand the previous sentence, let me translate
it to you…

P.-S.: sometimes, French can be a little more verbose than English…

There were never backports of libvdpau1. But (nearly) all old packages
that have ever been in unstable are available from snapshot.debian.org.

As I made some upgrades during the last days, I checked today again. The bug
is already active. No red colour on youtube videos. Shall i avoid upgrades
during the next time, until the bug is fixed?

Just make sure other updates don't affect the behavior.
* upgrade (get into a consistent state)
* verify the problem still exists with libvdpau1 0.4.1-5
* downgrade libvdpau1 to 0.4.1-2 (squeeze)
* verify that the bug is gone
* try libvdpau1 0.4.1-3 from snapshot.debian.org
* try libvdpau1 0.4.1-4 from snapshot.debian.org

Hi,

Here is a new, real-world example of this bug. But there was nothing
logged in polipo.log this time.

Request to upstream server sent by Polipo:

 GET /urchin.js HTTP/1.1

To me this suggests Polipo doesn't like something in the HTTP response
header. It then attempts to re-download the object to infinity. This
is odd as the document is usually retrieved fine by Polipo on the first
attempt.

In this case when I noticed it happening and restarted the polipo
process. By that time it had downloaded some 3+ GiB of unwanted data
from Google (average 120kbps for 8 hours).

The client host that made the HTTP request had long been powered off and
was no longer connected to Polipo.

Regards,

Bug#651903: iptables-persistent: Install/update fails with IPv6

2012-04-20 Thread Andreas Rütten

tags 651903 + patch
thanks

Independently of the discussion if iptables-persistent should save the
ruleset by default or not...

The attached patch add some extra checks if IPv6 is enabled or not
during postinst.

Cheers,
Andreas

What's the status of this bugreport? v2.0.3 seems to be available
upstream and the blocking bug #638931 seems to be resolved nowadays.

Hi Michael,

I think that 2.0.3 is a eucalyptus version number. As far as I can
see, euca2ools is still at version 1.3.1.

Bug#669362: Info received ([Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#669362: displays unusual wind speed unit km/h instead of m/s)

2012-04-20 Thread W. Martin Borgert
It seems, that a similar bug in GNOME gweather has been fixed:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=169699#31
And also gnome-shell-extension-weather allows
gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.weather wind-speed-unit m/s
while km/h is the default.
Maybe some code from one or the other can be reused?

 Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
 amd64.

Hi,

I can't reproduce this in a current pbuilder sid chroot. I agree this
package could use some love since its build is full of warnings and
whatnot but it is not FTBFS on me. Am I missing something?

I'm not tagging this as unreproducible until somebody else from the team
can confirm it.

Package: lvm2

When I tried to shrink /home and wanted to reuse some space on /root, I tried
lvresize, then fsck -f. lvresize seemed succeed, but the next step failed.

Then I cannot get the filesystem resized, and need to mount /home manually when

Jonathan describe each form of the command separately?

Yes, except that the case of checkout is so horrifyingly unorthogonal
that it is _really_ hard (maybe impossible) to document it clearly.
fetch at least does more or less the same thing regardless, just on
different repos/branches.

Jonathan Then in the description of each form, the meaning of each
Jonathan argument could be discussed thoroughly, with pointers to
Jonathan documentation elsewhere where appropriate.

This is what I meant by some repetition will be necessary. A few
pointers are OK but if you try to avoid repetition at all costs you
force a depth-first traversal of the entire set of manpages and the
prevailing reaction will be git docs suck.

This is a bug with the manpage format, basically - the reason why GNU
deprecated them.
