Bug#683628: Horde and Kolab removed

X-Debbugs-CC: pkg-horde-hack...@lists.alioth.debian.org
X-Debbugs-CC: pkg-kolab-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org

Hi,

Wheezy will no longer include Horde 3 (Packages horde3 and
reverse-dependencies) and Kolab. We have missed the Horde 3 to Horde 4
transition and Kolab has suffered from this.

Here is a proposed snipset, to be added in upgrading.dbk, Obsolete
packages section (patch attached):

listitem
  para
All Horde 3 packages, providing web collaborative softwares, have been
removed and are obsolete. This includes
  systemitem role=packageansel1/systemitem,

  systemitem role=packagesork-passwd-h3/systemitem,
  systemitem role=packagesork-vacation-h3/systemitem and
  systemitem role=packageturba2/systemitem.
As the Horde 4 packages have not reached sufficient quality before the

Most Kolab packages, providing groupware server, have been removed. This

However, there seems to be a problem with:

Trying to remove it results in:

 # Broken Depends:

 php-kolab-freebusy: php-kolab-freebusy

 # Broken Build-Depends:

Breaking php-kolab-filter and php-kolab-freebusy is probably okay, as
you requested their removal from testing, however all the build-depends
on pear-horde-channel look like a problem. Maybe I missed something,
but I couldn't find an other package providing pear-horde-channel, nor
is there dummy package available build from a higher horde version.
Could you please check, that removing horde3 won't result in a lot FTBFS
 bugs?

Oh, I forgot this one! This is a very tiny package consisting of only
one file (/usr/share/php/.channels/pear.horde.org.reg). We[1] should
probably create a new source package, like pear-phpunit-channel and
pear-symfony-project-channel.

Before that, keep horde3 in unstable (I have created an RFP blocking this bug).

Can you unblock the new pear-horde-channel to allow removal of horde3?

Help is needed to finish the Horde 4 work (Horde 5 will have a similar
 structure).

Instructions to continue the work is at
 http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-horde/horde4/tools.git;a=blob;f=README.
There is still a lot to do, especially about copyright (see [1], [2] and
 [3]).

 - What/Where are now the instructions to install Horde 4?

Once the packages are built, install the one you want and the
dependencies make the rest.

 - Without php-horde-imp package and other top-level applications,
what is the interest to include all php-horde-* package in wheezy?

None that I am aware of. Maybe we should ask for a removal in testing.

Bug#656244: Please rename package to php-phpunit

Source: phpunit
Version: 3.5.5-2

Most packages that ship a PEAR package or a PHP library (i.e a file in
/usr/share/php) are named php-pearname.

This allows automatic naming for tools like pkg-php-tools.

Are you OK to rename the package and add a transition package with the old
name, which will be dropped in wheezy+1? I can propose an patch.

I don't think we want to do that. The normal RC4 algorithms (i.e. not
ECDHE-*-RC4*) don't provide perfect forward secrecy. So you would
improve the security in one regard (mitigate BEAST vulnerability even
if the client does not implement a work-around) but worsen it in
 another regard.

AFAIK, NSS, which is used by Chrome and Firefox, has had a BEAST
workaround for some time now. So, the suggested change would worsen
the security for a significant part of the user base.

OK. I didn't know that. I have marked the bug as wontfix. Feel free to close it.

Hi,

Currently, on any Debian-based apache2, anyone can browse the /icons URL.

Anyone can see that odf6* icons are present (- this is Debian
specific) and the date of these icons correspond to the build date.

So one can deduce the version and arch (for example 29-Sep-2011
23:00 is apache2 2.2.16-6+squeeze4 amd64)

Recommendation: remove the Indexes option in

2012-02-09 Thread Mathieu Parent
Hi Soren,

Sorry for this late reply

#655771 kolabd: Webadmin does not delete users from LDAP
#655767 kolabd: Webadmin does not create mailboxes for new users

Those two bugs probably comes from the same problem: the kolabd daemon
doesn't get the changes.

Try the following:
# stop kolabd
service kolabd stop
# edit /etc/kolab/kolab.conf and set debug to 1
# run kolabd in the foreground
kolabd | tee /tmp/kolabd-foreground.log

Wait a bit (10 minutes) and send me /tmp/kolabd-foreground.log

You can also follow links on

 Mathieu,

Thanks for the help.  This is an update of bug 640153: Missing depends on
libdigest-sha1-perl.  Libdigest-sha1-perl has now been replaced by libdigest-
 sha-perl.

After installing libdigest-sha-perl, kolabd still wouldn't start with the
 following error message:

Can you post a network capture of the ldap transaction for deeper inspection?

Bug#633377: [pkg-kolab] Bug#633377: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the kolab-cyrus-imapd package

2012-02-11 Thread Mathieu Parent
2012/2/11 Christian PERRIER bubu...@debian.org:
Dear maintainer of kolab-cyrus-imapd and Debian translators,

Hi Christian,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the kolab-cyrus-imapd
 Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
 update in the BTS.

I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload
for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization
bug as well as all other pending translations.

The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in four
days, so I will proceed with the NMU.

Ack. But note that the package is in bad shape and will probably be
removed for wheezy in favor of cyrus-imapd-2.4 (this requires some
more work on the kolab side).

The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:
cs da de es eu fi fr gl it ja nb nl pt pt_BR ru sv vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: pt_BR

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the kolab-cyrus-imapd package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Sunday, February
 19, 2012. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU
and send him/her all updates I receive.

Otherwise the following will happen (or already has):

Monday, February 06, 2012   : send the first intent to NMU notice to
                 the package maintainer.
Saturday, February 11, 2012       : send this notice
Sunday, February 19, 2012       : (midnight) deadline for receiving
 translation updates
Monday, February 20, 2012       : build the package and upload it to
 DELAYED/7-day
send the NMU patch to the BTS
Monday, February 27, 2012       : NMU uploaded to incoming

Thanks for your efforts and time.

Thanks for yours!

Cheers

Hi Thijs,

Lintian 2.5.15 added a number of tests related to pkg-php-tools.
 The test composer-package-without-pkg-php-tools-builddep displays
a warning on every package containing a composer.json file.

Yes, when this file is on package's root.

This seems over the top to me. My PHP application has functional
packaging developed over the years and I see no urgent need to
throw it away and rebuild it in pkh-php-tools just because upstream
 also ships a composer.json.

Composer support in pkg-php-tools is very useful to manage dependencies.
See dh_phpcomposer man page.

I would recommend to flag this as info at best. In general,

Probably yes.

I would also advise to add new tests as experimental initially.

This is not a false positive, and tagging it experimental basically means
fewer testing.

Cheers,

2013/8/7 Thijs Kinkhorst th...@debian.org:

Composer support in pkg-php-tools is very useful to manage dependencies.
 See dh_phpcomposer man page.

I know about it. However, e.g. for my package phpMyAdmin, it doesn't
provide any value currently (it detects only the PHP dependency out of the
18 dependencies that my package needs). This is not a problem with
Composer per se, but may be due to the shipped composer.json not being
 elaborate enough.

Yes.

Also, dh_phpcomposer seems to be not very mature. It generates more than
30 warnings when building my package, including PHP warnings written to
 the substvars file.

Can you post those warnings?

Just to be clear: I'm not at all wishing to diminish your work, and it
will no doubt improve - I'm just arguing that this is not something we
should be raising Lintian Warnings about at this point if people are not
using it. It needs more time before it can be generically usable and
before we can claim that it's a problem if your package is not using it.

The attached patch lower the severity to wishlist (displayed as
warning - info).

 Dear Maintainer,

Bonjour Vincent,

In bug #708551, a warning was introduced for PEAR packages not using
${phppear:description} and ${phppear:summary}. On some PEAR packages,
the provided description are poor (starting with the package name for
example). Therefore, the use of those macros should not be done blindly.

Unfortunately, there are no guidelines for Pear summary and description as
in Debian.

 I propose this patch to

  1. downgrade to wishlist the warning

I agree. But only for summary and description (keeping high severity for
deps substvars).

  2. explain to not blindly rely on PEAR package descriptions

Yes. And propose to send better description upstream. There is no reason
to keep the improvement in Debian only.

I will rework a bit the patch.

 Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to purge.
According to policy 7.2 you cannot rely on the depends being available
during purge, only the essential packages are available for sure.

Filing this as important because a.) it's a clear policy violation (to
not clean up at purge) b.) having a piuparts clean archive is a release

packages depending on it from being tested by piuparts (and thus
possibly the detection of more severe problems).

 Errors were encountered while processing:
  php-horde

 Regarding the postrm script:
 * it misses at the beginning

 #!/bin/sh
 set -e

 * the failing test should be rewritten as

 [ ! -L /etc/apache2/conf.d/$CONF.conf ] || rm
 /etc/apache2/conf.d/$CONF.conf

to not fail if the file is missing

Thanks,

I have used another kind of patch:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-horde/PEAR/php-horde.git;a=commitdiff;h=abe1780824241f69c8ee7ae3218d9fc26c8d2179

Will upload within a week.

2013-08-22 Thread Mathieu Parent
Package: mlocate
Version: 0.26-1

Hello maintainers,

RozoFS is a GPL scale out NAS (http://rozofs.org). The attached patch
exclude fuse.rozofs from scanned FS (As those FS can be very
large).

 Hi,

Hello,
during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install.
Thanks for your report

 As
per definition of the release team this makes the package too buggy for
 a release, thus the severity.

I couldn't reproduce the error. It seems that there were some previous errors:

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

 Package: pkg-php-tools
 Version: 1.7
 Severity: normal

 Hi,

Thanks for this useful helper, and for the new phpcomposer trick.

Following the /usr/share/doc/pkg-php-tools/README.* advices can lead to
 actually use the ${phpcomposer:description} or ${phppear:summary}
variables, but they are not substituted on the changes file, leading to
hardly readable informations being acknowledged by ftp-master, attached.

Yes, this is not fixable on the pkg-php-tools side (thus depending on
the corresponding wontfix bug on the dpkg side). And I still think
that using those two substvars is better (when the upstream
description is meaningfull enough) than diffing from upstream. But you
are free to not use them.
