Bug#746578: Revised call for votes (was libpam-systemd to flip dependencies - proposal)
* Ian Jackson (ijack...@chiark.greenend.org.uk) [141105 17:39]: I am calling for votes on the text below: Y (override, swap dependencies, requires 3:1) FD I vote Y, FD (with the remark that Y doesn't make a decision on does debian want to change the default on upgrades but just libpam-systemd dependencies is not the appropriate mechanismn to do it - the other question is not at the ctte, and I hope that we as Debian manage to find a way to settle this question less painful then some of the other things we currently have / had). And that's exactly what this decision means, don't swap the init system by accident. Nothing more but also nothing less. (I had a bit of bad experience of people reading more in an statement than there was in, that is why I wrote that. And I also fear that also the systemd maintainers consider this a bad idea doesn't help too much in avoiding that, at least at the moment.) I believe this issue is at least partly caused by the fact that the work of the tech ctte has, for the last two years or so, been effectively split between just two people: Ian is drafting resolutions, and Russ is discussing with involved parties to better understand the situations. As far as I can tell, the activity of the rest of the committee is restricted to voting and the occasional presence at the IRC meetings. In any case, as someone who has spent many long hours dealing with TC business over the past two years, I categorically reject this characterization that only two people are doing the work of the committee. I'm happy to hear that. I should have said that it /seems/ to be split up mostly between Ian and Russ. Best, -Nikolaus -- GPG encrypted emails preferred. I just came off of a few months of not doing any TC work at all, not even attending the meetings, and only managed to go to an hour meeting and do some on-list discussion in the past month. I've actually been one of the least active members recently. -- Russ Allbery (r...@debian.org) http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-ctte-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
