Bug#884967: opencv: FTBFS on various architectures

2017-12-21 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Source: opencv

Severity: serious
Justification: makes the package in question unusable or mostly so

Dear Maintainer,

Your package FTBFS on various architectures, which is blocking the gdal
transition (#884504). On most architectures the error is related to
tesseract which was updated to 4.00~git2174-3b62badd-5 recently,
triggering an uncoordinated transition.

Bug#866723: vtk6: FTBFS due to texlive-math-extra no longer existing

2017-07-01 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Source: vtk6
Version: 6.3.0+dfsg1-5
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: makes the package in question unusable or mostly so

Dear Maintainer,

While preparing the transition to GDAL 2.2.1, your package failed to
build due to unsatisfied build dependencies:

Depends: texlive-math-extra which is a virtual package and is not
 provided by any available package

The recent revisions of texlive-extra no longer provide this binary
package.

Dropping the build dependency was sufficient to build vtk6 successfully
again.

Please apply the attached patch to drop the dependency.

Bug#837152: armadillo: Dependencies not satisfiable (superlu updated to 5.2.1)

2016-09-09 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Source: armadillo
Version: 1:6.700.6+dfsg-1
Severity: serious
Justification: makes the package in question unusable or mostly so
Control: affects -1 src:qgis src:gdal src:pktools src:vtk6

Dear Maintainer,

superlu has been updated to version 5.2.1 in unstable, which makes
the armadillo packages uninstallable due to the version 4.3 constraint.

This affects all reverse dependencies of armadillo.

Version 1:7.400.1+dfsg-1 in experimental does not have the superlu 4.3
version constraint, but will require a transition. Please coordinate the
armadillo transition with the Release Team as soon as possible, or fix
the superlu dependency issue for the version in unstable in the mean
time.

Kind Regards,

Bas

Bug#837109: hypre: -dev package library dependency not binNMU safe

Dear Maintainer,

The upload of openmpi (2.0.1-3) has triggered an uncoordinated
transition (#836917). Unfortunately the version constraint on the
library package from the -dev package is not binNMU safe causing it not
to be installable when the package version contains a binNMU version
(+bN), this prevents the rebuilds of freefem++ & petsc:

 freefem++ build-depends on:
 - libhypre-dev:amd64
 libhypre-dev depends on missing:

 petsc build-depends on:

 libhypre-dev depends on missing:
 - libhypre-2.8.0b:amd64 (< 2.8.0b-3+1~)

The attached patch turn the -dev package into an arch:any package with a
(= ${binary:Version) version requirement for the library package which
ensures that the same version of the -dev & library packages are
installed and which supports +bN binary versions for binNMUs.

Please apply the patch in the next revision of hypre to unblock the
rebuilds of freefem++, petsc, and their reverse dependencies for the
ongoing openmpi transition.

Dear Maintainer,

The upload of openmpi (2.0.1-3) has triggered an uncoordinated
transition (#836917). Unfortunately your package FTBFS due to the recent
change in perl:

 https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2016/08/msg00013.html

The attached patch adds . back to @INC if it's not present, to fix the
bfnnconv.pl failure to execute m-ascii.pl.

Bug#821221: RM: python-scientific -- RoQA; RC buggy, inactive upstream

2016-04-16 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal
Control: block -1 by 821214 821215 821216 821217 821219

Please remove python-scientific from Debian unstable.

python-scientific is incompatible with numpy 1.9 and hasn't seen any
upstream activity since 2014.

python-scientific is keeping the old netcdf (1:4.1.3-7.2) in unstable
which is causing testing migration problems for every new revising since
the transition in October 2015.

Kind Regards,

Bug#821215: dolfin: Depends on unmaintained python-netcdf

2016-04-16 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Source: dolfin
Version: 1.6.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: makes the package in question unusable or mostly so

Dear Maintainer,

Please remove the python-netcdf dependency from python-dolfin.

python-netcdf is incompatible with numpy 1.9 and hasn't been in testing
for almost two years. There hasn't been any upstream activity since
2014, making it unlikly to gain compatibility with numpy 1.9.

python-netcdf4 may be a suitable alternative for dolfin, it is actively
maintained by the NetCDF upstream developers.

This bugreport is filed as part of the process to get all reverse
dependencies of python-scientific removed from Debian unstable. If
dolfin cannot do without the python-scientific dependency, it will also
need to be removed from Debian.

Kind Regards,

Bas

2016-04-16 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Package: ftp.debian.org

Please remove mmtk from unstable.

It's incompatible with NumPy 1.9 like its python-scientific dependency.

There has been no upstream activity since 2013, making it unlikely to gain
compatibility with NumPy 1.9.

mmtk needs to be removed to unblock the removal of python-scientific.

python-scientific is keeping the old netcdf (1:4.1.3-7.2) in unstable
which is causing testing migration problems for every new revising since
the transition in October 2015.

Bug#802624: vtk6: Fails to build with GDAL 2.0

2015-10-21 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Source: vtk6
Version: 6.2.0+dfsg1-4
Severity: important
Tags: patch upstream
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: gdal-2.0

Dear Maintainer,

vtk6 (6.2.0+dfsg1-4) FTBFS due to missing compatibility with
GDAL/OGR 2.0:

error: 'Open' is not a member of 'OGRSFDriverRegistrar'

GDAL 2.0 support in discussed upstream in #15692:

 http://www.vtk.org/Bug/view.php?id=15692

That issue links to a patch from ArchLinux for GDAL 2.0 support:

https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/gdal2.patch?h=packages/vtk

The attached debdiff includes the changes from ArchLinux patch further
improved to support both GDAL 1.x and 2.x, please consider including
these changes in the next vtk6 upload.

Can you also forward the improved patch to the vtk bugtracker for which
I don't have an account?

The severity of this issue will be increased to serious when the GDAL
2.0 transition starts.

There are no GDAL 2.0.1 packages available in experimental yet, because
the transition to GDAL 1.11.3 (#80) needs to start first. This issue
was triaged using locally built GDAL 2.0.1 packages from the
experimental-2.0 branch in git:

 http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-grass/gdal.git/log/?h=experimental-2.0

Bas

Bug#794010: vtk: Build dependency on libnetcdf-cxx-legacy-dev required for netcdf transition

2015-07-29 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Package: vtk
Version: 5.8.0-17.5
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: netcdf-split-c-f-cxx

Dear Maintainer,

For the upcoming netcdf transition your package needs a build dependency
on libnetcdf-cxx-legacy-dev to build successfully with the netcdf
packages in experimental.

The attached patches add the build dependency for vtk (5.8.0-17.5) and
vtk (5.10.1+dfsg-1).

Since NetCDF 4.3.3.1 the upstream developers have split the project into
language specific releases, the netcdf Debian package has likewise split
into language specific source packages:

┌─┬───┬──┐
│ NetCDF project │ Source package│ -dev package │
├─┼───┼──┤
│ NetCDF-C│ netcdf│ libnetcdf-dev│
│ NetCDF C++ (cxx4)   │ netcdf-cxx│ libnetcdf-c++4-dev   │
│ NetCDF C++ (legacy) │ netcdf-cxx-legacy │ libnetcdf-cxx-legacy-dev │
│ NetCDF-Fortran │ netcdf-fortran│ libnetcdff-dev │
└─┴───┴──┘

The netcdf-cxx provides the new NetCDF 4 C++ API in libnetcdf_c++4.so.1,
and netcdf-cxx-legacy the legacy NetCDF 3 C++ API in libnetcdf_c++.so.4.

For more information about the different NetCDF C++ APIs, see:

2015-07-27 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Source: etsf-io
Version: 1.0.3-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

For the upcoming netcdf transition your package needs a build dependency
on libnetcdff-dev to build successfully.

│ NetCDF C++ (cxx4)   │ netcdf-cxx│ libnetcdf-c++4-dev   │
│ NetCDF C++ (legacy) │ netcdf-cxx-legacy │ libnetcdf-cxx-legacy-dev │
│ NetCDF-Fortran │ netcdf-fortran│ libnetcdff-dev │
└─┴───┴──┘

The attached patches add the build dependency for etsf-io (1.0.3-4) and
etsf-io (1.0.4-1~exp1).

Kind Regards,

Bas
