Bonjour,

voir http://www.gnustep.org/information/aboutGNUstep.html

debian postfix + sasl

Witam

Zainstalowałem z paczek debiana postfixa wraz z sasl.

Mam jednak problem z odbieraniem poczty, wiadomości przychodzące z

Creación automática de archivos de dispositivos

¡Hola!

xenhost?

Gracias anticipadas por responder.

Daniel

No son los usuarios. Por omisión, PostgreSQL no habilita las conexiones
por TCP/IP en Debian. Para cambiar, se hace lo siguiente:

gaira:~# psql -h localhost
psql: could not connect to server: Connection refused

tcpip_socket = true

deve configurar o port-foward do roteador, liberando as portas:

TCP: 6989-6900
UDP: 6989-6900

Para liberar as postas no Firewall você deve configurar via iptable
através dos comandos no console:

iptables -A FORWARD -p udp --dport 6890:6900 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp --dport 6890:6900 -j ACCEPT

Tinha suporte
a C, C++, java e D se não me engano.

Re: Modem Intel 537 Data Fax Voice V.92 Modem

2007-04-06 Thread Douglas Sales
ricardo,

assim voce poderá baixar o sl-modem-daemon no site do debian e
arquivo /etc/sources.list

No query information to decode. QUERY_STRING is set, but empty

mapserver-bin - mapserver binary utilities
mapserver-doc - documentation for mapserver
perl-mapscript - perl mapserver library

RES: Postfix + LDAP erro de login do cliente

2007-04-06 Thread Eduardo Sachs

Single Sing-On, eu fui estudar a solução, e consegui integrar o Kerberos no
LDAP e no Samba. A solução ficou balaço, perfeito!! Me autenticava no Kerberos

dagitima has ozelliklerini bilemiye bilirler.

Burada Ubuntuya has sorular sormanız aslında (bildigim kadarıyla) Redhat

birsey

Kısacası kimse buraya ubuntu sorusu soramazsınız demiyor.(sahsen ben

Neyse bu konu hakkında benden bu kadar.

Herkese Kolay Gelsin.

Today I've found the following problem: when I start domU under xen with
stock debian kernel (linux-image-2.6.18-4-xen-686) domU has no network
interfaces. Discovering the problem I found that this kernel was
compiled with:

# CONFIG_IP_PNP is not set
so it does not allow to pass network interface parameters to kernel when
boot.

So how do I need to set up domU with this kernel to use under default
Etch installation ? Or should I instead compile and use my own kernel ?

How fast do you need OO to load?

Personally not particularly but I'm planing of putting my Dad on etch
next month as the remote windows admin workload is too much.

Then again, I'm a CLI person (except for some GUI frontends that make
life a little easier). For a while, I had a box with a 171 MB drive
that only held the stuff that couldn't easily come over NFS (like /boot,
/). Everything else came over NFS, the catch was the network was a
serial line running PPP (no NIC on the box). I ran icewm. Sure mozilla
took a while, but partly that's because it was a 486. It was still
faster than running mozilla via ssh X forwarding.

Soon I'm going to move 2 P!!! 667 network media players (plus a bit of
web browsing and AbiWord for guests) onto net boot and remove their
harddrives, that way the only moving parts on them will be the PSU fans
which only spins up if the temperature hits 50C. I'm undecided on
weather to disable swapping or reduce swappiness and have a small swap
on a local ramdisk (useful indicator of ram running out) with a larger
lower priority one on a remote disk or ramdisk mounted via NFS or some
other option. they only have 256 MBs of ram so I'm reluctant to turn off
swapping

RAID is not a substitute for backup anyway, it's meant to be a tool to
increase availability by adding redundancy, in this case I could slap in
a new drive, do a reinstall, rebuild my RAID1 array, and I'm back up
without having to do all that tedious mucking about with DDS tapes (or
DVDRs, Rsync, Gmail, whatever you use) but even if your data is hosed
you can restore from backup (you *do* backup right) and your fine.

For the cost of one disk, if you put the system stuff on raid1 too,
there is not downtime other than that required to physically change the
drive. No tedius mucking about with /etc.

And while these days you do see some speed increase on reads from RAID1
I don't think it's as much as with nonRAID0, plus you've got a serious
penalty on writes.

Sure I back up. Anything that apt didn't put there, I back up. The
first place my backup sets go is /var/local/backup (protected by raid1),
the second place they go is another box via rsync. Then they go to CD.
I don't yet have a removable hard drive. I've looked into backup media
and it _seems_ that hard drives in a ruggedized case are more rugged
than tape, cheaper, and don't require an expensive tape drive.

I actually do a similar thing until everything ends up on my server
where I eventually slap it on tape, although rather than backing up my
config files in /etc I document the changes I make in a copy paste
friendly way. As for the relative price and longevity of tapes vs hdds
for me now I'd slap big drives in my media frontend box and have them
rsync on boot then unmount and spin down, but for price per GB tape
media in so cheap that it hard to beat, and if you want a serious backup
strategy, you want multiple copies of things in different locations,
which until harddrive manufacturers realize we don't all want or need
our big drives to be fast (I'd happily buy a drive with quadruple the
seek time and quarter the throughput if it was 4 times the capacity of
todays biggest 750GB power sucking rattlers) means well stored tapes is
probably the best way.

Actually I don't mean to sound quite so sanctimonious about it, my
backup frequency is dictated by how much it going to piss me off if I
loose everything science the last one, when I get the the point of
losing sleep over it I dig out my DDS drive and SCSI card, drop them in
and do a backup, (I really need a bigger box) then I sleep well for a
couple of months.

Perhaps instead of a bigger box, you need a spare box dedicated to doing
backups. There's supposed to be a way to backup from box A to the tape
drive attached to box B without having the backup set sit on box B's
hard drive.

Heh yes, that sounds like a job for the very splendid and worthwhile
netcat. My ideal backup solution involves changing tapes once or twice
a day with a quarterly full backup day/hell where you train a monkey to
change the tapes for you, (I sooo want to by one of those graduate
project robot arms and automate the whole process on the cheap) I have 3

The FHS is a policy document about what directories can be where and
 what they're used for.

Almost the whole directory tree is under the auspisis of the FHS. If
you put a random directory within that tree, at some point there could
 be conflict.

There are four places within the directory tree you could place your
/store and be out of the way of the debian system:

  /home/store
assuming you never create a user named 'store'

  /usr/local/share/store
since ISOs are basically static, its similar to
  putting a document under /usr/local/share/doc

  /var/local/store
If you are frequently adding and removing files from
store, it should go under /var (variable) since the
idea of /usr is that it _can_ be mounted read-only.

If its files to be placed by users (a communal bookshelf), I would put
 it under /home

If its files to be placed by admin/root/whatever, to be read by users,
I would put it under /var/local

In any event, I would _not_ put it as /store.

Me? I put things on my stuff in:

 /exports/$sharename0
$sharename1
$sharename2
$sharename3
$sharename4

Where the nfs, samba, shfs, afs, etc... share them all with a same name

I guess I am non-FHS compliant that way. Though, I am consistent that
way. It grew out of early problems complying with FHS years ago... its a
bad habit, but a livable bad habit

What about /mnt or /media then? I thought they were good places to
mount other partitions. Doesn't that still fall under FHS compliance?

The redesign seems to be quite attractive actually. Well done on your
XFce hacks - there were a few of those issues that used to bug me about
XFce. I had spent a fair amount of time configuring the launchers to how
I wanted them but then after changing from Slackware to Etch found that
all of my configs had been superceded by the latest XFce install. After
that, I just couldn't be bothered so stuck with Gnome, but configured
that to my liking instead.

Anyway, I agree with Joe: the system is yours - so if you like what you
have done, that is the final arbiter of good design. The point being: if
you are satisfied with your work, then that's what counts.

Cheers

The Vet Who Surprised A Cow
In the course of his duties in August 1977, a Dutch veterinary
surgeon was required to treat an ailing cow. To investigate its internal
gases he inserted a tube into that end of the animal not capable of facial
expression and struck a match. The jet of flame set fire first to some
bales of hay and then to the whole farm causing damage estimate at L45,000.
The vet was later fined L140 for starting a fire in a manner surprising to
the magistrates. The cow escaped with shock.

I extended the LV /dev/vg1/www to +5GB and resized the ext3 partition again.
Still the File System is 6GB less than the LV below it.

ReiserFS Logical Volumes shows no problems By the way.

Could Some one please explain why this is the case with ext3 File System?

Also is the JFS 2.6 kernel BUG mentioned the the URL below fixed in
the current kernel for Etch?

Just thinking if I should switch to JFS from ext3 since it can be
extended while it is online and not disrupt the webserver running.
Since it is also fast and does not have the XFS problems of unclean
unmounts due power failures and so on.

Configuring OOo to use printer

2007-04-06 Thread andy

Greetings all

I have bought a new printer (Epson Stylus DX6050) and have been able to
configure it fine using CUPS and it prints the test page and also from
text files. The system (Etch) recognises it as default and all seems fine.
But ... OOo still wants to print to my old (now removed) printer. How do
I get it to recognise and print to the new printer. On Slackware it was
just a case of ./spadmin and hey presto, one could access the
administration services of OOo.

How do I do this with Deb Etch.

Thanks

/@

Resolution gets displayed incorrectlly(with nvidia driver)

2007-04-06 Thread redhat penguin

I've installed the nvidia drivers, reconfigured x server but i get smushy
fonts and overall smushy desktop.
My screens MAX res. is: 1280X800(WXGA) and if i try and use 1280X800 the
whole desktop/picture squeezes together and gets displayed in the middle
with about 4 inches of free space left around the sides. This also happens
when i boot up to the login screen.

What can i do to fix this?

 /home/store
assuming you never create a user named 'store'

 /usr/local/share/store

 /var/local/store
If you are frequently adding and removing files from
store, it should go under /var (variable) since the

What about /mnt or /media then? I thought they were good places to
mount other partitions. Doesn't that still fall under FHS compliance?

True, however the OP doesn't want to _mount_ an iso image, he wants to
_store_ iso images. I think its like a communal book-shelf presumably
with different backup requirements than regular stuff under /home.

It doesn't sound like you configured X properly when you reconfigured
it. I would suggest checking it again. Otherwise post the relevant
sections of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf here and we take take a look at it.

Tell us also which version of Debian you are using and which video card

problem is.

Could the difference between what lvdisplay shows and df be a
combination of:

df shows the free space available within a filesystem

lvdisplay shows the free space available on an LV

Could the diff be the amount of space taken up by the filesystem
infrastructure itself (metadata, inode tables, etc)?

What about the difference between -h (K=1024) and --si (K=1000)?

Better than my other reply:

It seems that many guides say to put your windows partition in

Re: Relabel partition didn't work

It seems that many guides say to put your windows partition in
/mnt/windows or /media/windows. That would suggest to me that that is
the place where other file systems go. That's where my question stems
from as to why /mnt and /media are not good places.

Neither to me seem appropriate:

/mnt should be empty since most *NIX expect that /mnt is a
mountpoint itself for root to mount devices temporarily.

/media to me suggests removeable media like CDs, USB, etc.

If we consider the iso files like any other file to share between users,
where do users put files to share? It used to be that home directories
were world-readable so you could keep them in either user's home and the
other could access the file if the permissions permitted it.

When home directories are not world-accessible, I've suggested a
separate directory under /home for such things.

I've never run an FTP server so I don't know. Where does the FTP's /pub
directory actually sit within its host's filesystem? Perhaps one could
learn from that decision.

..I have seen web stuff pointing to Ariel Sharon being unhappy joining
W's war on terror on NATO's side because of the full 4 Geneva
Conventions, instead lobbying these Wannsee language games, this is why
it took them so long (November 2001) to join in.

I don't get it. Why should the US be hed responsible for the actions
  of the Iranian media?

..nice try on diversion. All you need is a common interest in killing
off the (moderate) Iranian middle class people.

Except that you have a problem with the US condemning Iran for parading
around captives on TV for propaganda.

..aaaooouuuldeee propaganda trick, such condemnations. ;o)

..we agree this is a war crime?

I am simply asking why the US should be held responsible for that?

..because it too is a war crime, and probably treason too.

That is an action of the Iranian state-run television media.

..and no higher-up's? Correct.

How does your (obviously false) hyperbole about the US wanting to kill
the Iranian middle class have anything to do with that?

..not the US, W's neocon regime, which has exhausted all military
assets except for the nukes. The purpose is the same as e.g. neocon Fox,
raise up hatred on the enemy race or terrorist religion so nobody
questions the necessity of nuclear strikes.

However, it is a show of goodwill and civility.

..then you should _try_ beat Adolf Hitler on military ethics.

Again, saying that Hitler had any sort of military ethics is nothing
more than a demonstration of your complete divorcement from reality. If
a serial killer is a good family man, does that make him a role model
 for anybody on anything? No!

..so, you're not even going to _try_ have a military ethic of your own.
That way you will hide well below Adolf Hitler's toe nails, on ethics.

..even for _purely_ racist reasons, he ordered Geneva style protection
from WWII for Norwegians and Danes. And Delivered. And you?

..and _even_ draft dodgers have a military ethic, I will not fight!

Greetings all

I have bought a new printer (Epson Stylus DX6050) and have been
able to
configure it fine using CUPS and it prints the test page and also from
text files. The system (Etch) recognises it as default and all
seems fine.
But ... OOo still wants to print to my old (now removed) printer.
How do
I get it to recognise and print to the new printer. On Slackware
it was
just a case of ./spadmin and hey presto, one could access the
administration services of OOo.
How do I do this with Deb Etch.

Have you tried /usr/lib/openoffice/program/spadmin ?

Thanks Jeff

Wasn't sure where to find that file on Debian.

Anyway - that was the right file BUT the OOo still shows the default as
the now obsolete printer even though the spadmin config file shows the
DX6050 as the default and prints a perfect test page. In OOo however,
when wanting to print a page, it tries to spool it to the old printer
and throws a print error.

What am I overlooking?

Thanks

NFS: client cannot read server files

2007-04-06 Thread Ken Heard
I am using a P3 desktop as the NFS server, which is labeled BDS, and a
P2 laptop as the NFS client, which is labeled LAP. Both computers have
Etch installed with the latest upgrades.

On the server (BDS), the command exportfs -v returns the following:

/home/ken
LAP(rw,async,wdelay,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check,anonuid=65534,anongid=65534)

(all on one line, with a tab between the ken and the LAP)

On the client (LAP), I mounted the file system returned by the
exportfs -v command on the server as quoted above. After mounting,
the command mount -t nfs on the client (LAP) returns the following:

BDS:/home/ken on /home/ken/BDS type nfs (rw,addr=192.168.0.114)

Then when I change the directory on the client to /home/ken/BDS and
then run ls -la still as root nothing happens. I finally stopped the
process by Ctrl-C, which then returned the following:

ls: reading directory.: Input/output error

After this message the prompt returned.

I then ran the following tests:

1. Can each computer ping the other using the labels BDS and LAP? Yes.

2. Do the relevant user and default group have the same id and alias for
both computers? Yes.

3. Are the directory permissions the same for both directories (BDS and
LAP)? Yes.

A month ago I was able successfully to establish this NFS connection to
transfer files I wanted on the laptop from the desktop for use while I
was travelling. Now that I am home I cannot re-establish the connection
to transfer files created while travelling back to the desktop.

Does anyone have any idea why I should get this input/output error
message now but not before?

Ken Heard
