Re: nautilus fora de gnome no mostra particions

2008-06-30 Thread Alex

desmuntar).
a fluxbox, tornen a desaparèixer.
 fluxbox?

Re: nautilus fora de gnome no mostra particions

2008-06-30 Thread rpb
l'escriptori, on tinc també lenny actualitzada a diari.

vzctl set veid [--save] --vmguarpages P[:P]

ping www.suinot.org
PING www.suinot.org (81.56.179.119) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- www.suinot.org ping statistics ---
9 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 8009ms

Name Server:NS6.GANDI.NET
Name Server:MASTER.SUINOT.ORG
Un problème de config à ce niveau? Lequel est le primaire?
As tu des traces d'activité (requêtes DNS) sur ton serveur?

par curiosité, tu es sur quelle ville?

village ;)
Saint Sernin sur Rance, entre Albi (81 Tarn) et Millau (12 Aveyron)
Je dépends des installations orange de Toulouse.

Cordialement,

 ça me paraît assez bizarre ?

A primeira é a placa onboard.

No arquivo /prod/net/dev aparece o seguinte:

Inter-| Receive| Transmit
face |bytespackets errs drop fifo frame compressed
multicast|bytespackets errs drop fifo colls carrier compressed
lo: 16309 36000 0 0 0
16309 36000 0 0 0
  eth1: 34796 374000 0 0 0
35004 257000 0 0 0
  eth2: 0 0000 0 0 0
  0 0000 0 0 0
  sit0: 0 0000 0 0 0
  0 0000 0 0 0

debian:~# dmesg | grep eth
eth0: IC Plus Corporation IP100A FAST Ethernet Adapter at
00011400, 00:06:4f:55:ee:63, IRQ 58.
eth0: MII PHY found at address 0, status 0x786d advertising 01e1.
eth1394: eth0: IEEE-1394 IPv4 over 1394 Ethernet (fw-host0)
eth1: Link changed: 100Mbps, full duplex
eth1: no IPv6 routers present
eth1: no IPv6 routers present

Fernando

Valeu pela resposta Renato.

Executei o comando e ele atualizou a lista.

Imprime normal, inclusive fotos, embora nunca tenha testado a qualidade
máxima e utilizo o scanner com o xsane numa boa.
Os cartuchos são baratos e individuais. Comprei hj 5 jogos de 4
cartuchos por 98 reais. Claro que são alternativos, mas funcionam muito
 bem.
Eu recomendo.

 []'s,

Driver da Nvidia: NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.09-pkg1.run

Resumo do problema: Atualmente a interface gráfica sobe normalmente e a

Procedimentos executados:

- Reinstalação do driver da Nvidia;
- Alteração do driver do vídeo para vesa;
- Inserção da opção single no boot;

LDAP addressbook/contacts

2008-06-30 Thread kj

Hi guys,

At work I have to connect to an Exchange server for mail. I use Kmail
mostly, but'I've tried this in Thunderbird too, just to check. In both
these, I have LDAP addressbooks configured, and this works well enough,
except for one thing. Consider the following:

Joe Soap [EMAIL PROTECTED]

for some reason, both apps use the cn to get the Joe Soap part. In
the LDAP repo, cn is actually joe.soap. Joe Soap is found in displayName

Does anyone know how to make Kmail look at the displayName instead of cn?

Thanks

During this time the chroot'd lighttpd webserver is hosting pages fine,

I have the great idea of switching from usernames to user IDs: this
solves the chown problem, but lighttpd.conf has a username. I switch to
a user ID in lighttpd.conf but that doesn't work either, so I back out
those changes. Note, I've made no changes to /etc/group or /etc/passwd

Linux-image-2.6.25 won't boot - target filesystem error

2008-06-30 Thread Anthony Campbell
I just installed linux-image-2.6.25-2 from Sid. Boot fails with a
mwwage:

target filesystem doesn't have bootarg

This is followed by:
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

2.6.23 still boots normally.

Google shows a number of people with similar problems, mainly on Ubuntu.
I also found a Debian recommendation to modify /etc/fstab in order to
get the file systems recognized, but I'm reluctant to do so for fear of
losing the ability to boot any kernel at all.

Any ideas about this one?

Yes, I do know about rescue CDs, backing up /etc/fstab etc. But I didn't
really want to go down that route unless it's necessary and I really
don't know where to begin sorting this one out. None of the Goggle stuff
is very helpful. I'm not at all sure that messing about with /etc/fstab
would help.

I don't seem to be alone with this one. There was a recent (June 21)
post with almost identical errors:

I have no idea where to start debugging from. I think that the
problem is more about the kernel, not about the mdadm. I suppose
I somehow did not comiped in the kernel something needed for
finding the sATA devices, but I used the default kernel
configuration and I was thinking that this should work. Morover,
I cannot boot the LinuxOLD image (which was working perfectly
before), since it ends in a kernel panic message.

Any idea on how to boot this machine and bring back in a working
condition is welcome.

Time for a bug report, I think.

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

The kernel is correct; I'm currently using linux-image-2.6.23-amd64.

I take the point about using a rescue disk but I'm not sure of what to
try for /etc/fstab. I know that a fresh installation of linux uses
different syntax but I don't remember what it is or how it works.
 Currently I have:

   /dev/hdb10 / ext3errors=remount-ro 0
 1
 /dev/hda5 noneswapsw 0 0
 proc/proc procdefaults0 0
 # none /proc/bus/usb/ usbdevfs user,noauto 0 0
 none /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0
 /dev/fd0/media/floppy autouser,noauto,rw 0 0
 /dev/hdc/media/cdromiso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
 /dev/hdb6 noneswapsw 0 0
 /dev/hdb7 /usr/local ext3defaults0 2
 /dev/hdb8 /home ext3defaults0 2
 /dev/hda1/backupext3 user,defaults0 2

You can use UUIDs or labels to refer to the partitions. This is
robust if a newer kernel changes the device nodes (e.g. from /dev/hda to
/dev/sda). You can use the blkid utility to find out the UUIDs of your
partitions, or you can set your own labels with e2label (and mkswap -L
for the swap partition).

To give you an example, I labeled my root partition root and this is
the corresponding fstab entry:

LABEL=root   /   ext3defaults,errors=remount-ro 0   1

If you want to use UUIDs then the syntax is UUID=.

You can try this with only your backup partition first to see if it
works, i.e. if the 2.6.23 kernel mounts it correctly if the fstab entry
refers to the label or UUID instead of /dev/hda1.

The corresponding syntax for /boot/grub/menu.lst is

# kopt=root=LABEL=root ro

(plus other boot options that you might want to pass to the kernel)

I would first try to switch to labels or UUIDs completely (including
root) with 2.6.23. If you subsequently run into a problem with 2.6.25
then you may have to boot into 2.6.23 once more and change every
reference in /boot/grub/device.map from /dev/hdX to /dev/sdX.

(I have no idea how this works with LILO.)

Re: CPU Frequencies Don't scale independently

2008-06-30 Thread Volkan YAZICI
Hi,

On Sun, 29 Jun 2008, Hakan BAYINDIR [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
 I'm running debian testing on a Intel Core2Quad Q6600 CPU with 4
gigabytes of RAM for 7 months. Until 2.6.22, the kernel was scaling each
of my cores independently of each other but starting with 2.6.22, every
core is running in the same frequency. While this doesn't pose any
stability or performance issues, causes higher temprature and noise when
I run a single threaded computing intensive job.

I tracked the cause a bit. I was able to dig upto
 /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuX/cpufreq/affected_cpus. This file says
which CPUs should scale together. Since file is read only even to root I
think it's an unconfigurable option. I also found that cpu frequencies
are adjusted by cpufreq_acpi module and I cannot find any configuration
related to it files in my system (with my current knowledge).

The weird thing is I'm running an exact clone of this system in my
office with a core2duo system which scales its cores independently. I
cloned my home system to the office when I was running an Athlon64,
 approximately 1.5 years ago.

If anybody can say what is wrong, is it the expected behavior, where
should I look further, or whom I can talk to?

BTW, I'm running 2.6.24-1-686-bigmem kernel prepackaged from debian testing.

Did you solve your problem? I may recommend you to read files under
linux/Documentation/cpu-freq directory. BTW, sending your
/proc/config.gz might be helpful.

Regards.

wireless with Netgear WG511T

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a Netgear WG511T. I see it has an atheros chipset in

So, does the madwifi driver support it?
And, where can I find instructions on how to set it up, including

networks.
Does anyone know where this info can be found? I didn't find much with
google.

Gigabit Notebook Adaptor for networking Debian

2008-06-30 Thread Vwaju
I have an antique Gateway Solo 1100 laptop, in mint condition, running
Debian Linux. I would like to use it to administer my headless
internet server (also running Debian). However, it needs an ethernet
card.

The Linksys network adaptors I've seen for sale in stores require you
to be running Windows.

At the Linksys website, I found the the Gigabit Notebook Adaptor
(PCM1000) which, it says, is supported by all major operating
systems.

Here's the link:

I am wondering if this would do the trick. I would be greatful for
any insights
