La versió del nucli que s'indica al final cal que estigui instal·lada a la Debian que vols liveificar i que has muntat a /media/live i a la Debian des de la que la generaràs, sinó s'indica una versió específica s'utilitza la que retorni uname -r. Mais je préfèrerais, en tout cas dans un premier temps, éviter d'installer moi-même le serveur dhcp mais plutôt utiliser celui des modem/routeur. Et mon serveur Bind fonctionne bien. Dans le cas où j'installe ce serveur dhcp, cela signifie qu'il y en a 2 sur le réseau (avec celui du modem/routeur que je ne pourrai pas désactiver dans le cas où par exemple d'autres entités sur le lan l'utilisent) Et d'après ce que j'ai lu, il n'est pas possible de forcer des clients à choisir un serveur dhcp plutôt qu'un autre. Par contre, j'ai trouvé l'option sur le modem/routeur pour envoyer aux clients le serveur dns désirés. J'espère que c'est une option répandue sur les modem/routeur actuels. Dans le cas où je suis seul sur ce réseau, je peux faire ça. Je ne dois plus que mettre append domain-name mondomaine; dans le fichier dhclient.conf, ce qui ne crée pas de problèmes sur un laptop qui va se connecter ailleurs.. Dans le cas où je ne peux pas utiliser cette option Dns du modem/routeur, si je suis seul sur le réseau, je peux configurer mon propre serveur dhcp et désactiver celui du modem/routeur. Dans ce cas aussi, nickel pour les laptops. S'il y a d'autres entités sur le réseau (donc peux pas utiliser l'option dns du modem/routeur ni désactiver son serveur dhcp), je vais utiliser 2 petits scripts que je mettrai dans le menu et qui permettront de passer d'une configuration à l'autre, genre: cp -f /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.dns-local /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf /etc/init.d/networking restart Je dois juste trouver la meilleure solution pour donner le droit à l'utilisateur de faire ça (accès sudo?). De todas maneras a mi me entran dudas de por que hacer la copia de seguridad en un pendriver, por que o la copia de seguridad es pequeña o el pen es muy grande, en el segundo caso me parece que actualmente los pendrivers de gran tamaño (hablo de 100 gigas en adelante) son carisimos aun y me parecería poco rentable, Pero bueno esto ultimo ya no es cosa mia es simple curiosidad por que hasta ahora donde trabajo no se a utilizado ningún pendriver para copias de seguridad, es mas en algunos casos se siguen haciendo en cinta. Es el recomendado por los desarrolladores del kernel porque sus especificaciones están disponibles para todos. 3/ Driver propietario de nvidia: es el que proporciona nvidia en su página web, y que algunas distribuciones lo empaquetan para que sea más sencillo de instalar por los usuarios. Este driver es el que mejor rendimiento tiene, admite capacidades 3D y la pega es que es cerrado. Algunos desarrolladores del kernel no quieren ni oír hablar, precisamente porque es el causante de muchos de los problemas de cuelgues o bloqueos del sistema Es decir, que si tienes problemas con un driver concreto, prueba con otro para ver si obtienes mejores resultados. Lista: mirando un poco algunos manuales, FAQ, etc me encontre con este FAQ (1) de alli me puse a buscar en los repositorios que aplicacion me muestra en forma grafica el uso del procesador. tengo un AMD Athlon(tm) 7750 Dual-Core Processor. Ahora bien, entre otros instale xosview y aqui la duda, veo que siempre de los 2 procesadores uno de ellos (el cpu1) esta al 100% y el otro casi ni muestra actividad (1% en algunos casos) esto esta bien? o sea es normal que al primer procesador le consuma el total y al 2 lo deje ocioso? saludos (1) http://www.linux.org.pe/faq/faq3.php 3.10. Debes recompilar el kernel para que soporte los N procesadores que tengas. Para las versiones mas antiguas es necesario editar el /usr/src/linux/Makefile y descomentar la línea que dice SMP = 1. Controlar los Coolers
Hola gente de la lista! Estoy buscando algo de orientacion, el micro de mi laptop levanta mucha temperatura por lo general esta corriendo en 60ºC y lo que me resulta raro es que el cooler se activa a los 65ºC y el teclado parece una sarten. Estube buscando a ver como podria controlar el cooler para que ventile cuando el micro llegue a los 55ºC, probe con el ls-sensors pero este solo me arroja informacion y no me permite tocar nada. Se puede controlar el cooler por software? Hay alguna aplicacion que me permita controlar el cooler? o algun script que alguien conozca? Entiendo que como el micro calienta tanto el cooler lo voy a tener al palo todo el tiempo lo que se traduce en mayor consumo de electricidad pero por lo menos voy a dejar de hacer tostadas sobre el teclado. Ya solucione el problema, hice lo que me dijo Luis y edite el source.list para tener los paquetes de unstable y le di después un ( apt-get -t unstable install kde-minimal ) y asi ya pude entrar a mi instalación de debian. El problema era de dependencias rotas ( libxklavier ) que esta en sid. Luis Al tratar de instalar kde-minimal ya me había dado un error como el que tu dices, que linea debería colocar en source.list para remediar esto. No se si hay alguna manera de equilibrar la carga cuando hay más de un procesador. En los casos de los de doble núcleo siempre he observado que el primer CPU tiene mucha más carga que el segundo. Usé los comandos que me sugirieron (los que no existen los descarté) pero los paquetes que me sugieren los estoy usando (me dicen que ya no hacen falta Gnome, Evince, Eog y varios más por el estilo). Pero no aparecía ni uno de los que realmente no estoy usando. Así que no tuve más remedio que borrar una por una, las dependencias según lo que tenía apuntado en el cuaderno. Lo malo es que estoy segura de que me dejo cosas en el tintero de ésta forma. En cualquier caso, no entiendo por qué apt o aptitude me indican como paquetes a borrar programas que estoy usando. Gracias por la información Camaleon, mirare y me informare un poco mas sobre hal/devicekit aunque imagino que el sda siempre sera el primer disco duro sata, aun no se si eso solo afecta a los usb o a todo, pero en plan de discos me parece mucho mas util que sda sea el 1º sata, sdb el 2º y asi, y en plan de usbs montarlos por uuid, si me parece bastante útil. Similar es mi caso con un dual core modelo T2400, aunque con el kernel 2.6.26 la carga se la llevaba casi toda el procesador 0. Luego al instalar el 2.6.30 ya la carga fué más compartida. Pessoal, achei uma solução usando o próprio azureus e funcionou muito bem. http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-521940.html a única mudança que fiz foi utilizar o su para rodar o programa como meu usuario. Não sei se é possível rodar mais de um por computador, talvez seja mudando a porta do serviço web. Valeu a todos pelas dicas. Apesar de a bastante tempo já utilizar linux e o Debian tem coisas que ainda são um problema. Por padrão o crontab do debian vem editado para que o cron.daily, cron.weekly e o cron.monthly executem as 7 da manha. Mas mesmo editando este arquivo para outro horário, como no exemplo abaixo o mesmo continua a ser executado as 7 da manha. Claro, o serviços cron e anacron foram reiniciados e até mesmo a maquina inteira. Compiling kernel
Hello I have a doubt about kernel compilation. Two days ago I compiled by hand 2.6.31.6 and it crashed during the boot process. The configuration was made by hand, starting from the default configuration and perhaps I missed something. Since I had to restore my old slackware bakcup to recover some files and information, I got a copy of the already running (at slack) 2.6.31.6 kernel configuration that is finely tuned for my desktop... my question is: can I simply load such kernel configuration in the 'make xconfig' that is working (same desktop and cpu configuration) and compile it with debian? I mean, it is the same computer and hardware, the same kernel version, etc. More specific: Does Debian require a special kernel configuration due to its libraries/configuration or am I able just to load the kernel config and install it now on Debian? In theory it should work with any distribution, as far as I know it should match only the hardware... This is especially evident when I ssh to another server, while on other workstations (debian lenny and windows) the connection is almost instantly established, on my squeeze workstation it takes almost 10 seconds longer. This happens on all connections, for example, I recently enabled the MusicTracker plugin for pidgin, and set it to use my MPD server. Every time the plugin polls the server, pidgin freezes while it establishes the connection. I tried searching on the internet for similar problems, and found that it might be related to DNS lookups. I tried various fixes, but none of them seem to work. Unfortunately, I didn't keep track on what solutions I tried. In theory it should work with any distribution, as far as I know it should match only the hardware... No. I use vanilla kernels with not problems. I've been seeing it for quite a while actually, and couldn't tell you specifically when it showed up. It appears to be only related to the actual connection (in ssh), as everything else zips right along. I also see it in http... google can take up to 10 seconds to appear. Ive largely been trying to ignore it as I haven't really had time to figure out what it is. Also, I *don't* see this problem on a lenny machine on the same subnet, and really interestingly, I *don't* see this problem on my laptop which is running slightly more sid-ish than the squeeze machine that shows the problem. Basically you need to give more details. If using Gnome, right click the speaker icon (top right) and select Sound Preferences, make sure all the volumes for each channel / device is up and / or mute is off. All our firewalls (and not just the border firewalls) block any sort of port 25 traffic which doesn't have one of the endpoints in the MTA clusters. How could I write a script that enables quota on that partition, what contains a specific users home dir? Writing the usrquota, grpquota to the 4th. row in the proper line of fstab? Isn't there another method? A command or something? thank you!

Don't get me wrong; I *love* the sound of my VPI turntable, but sometimes, like at the end of wicked sixteen hour shift, the last thing I wanna do is futz with the record brush, stylus cleaning solution, etc., etc., when I need to salve my soul. 'Tis easier to pickup the Nokia N800 (instant on) and play some tunes via my tubed USB DAC. And please don't think for a minute that a quality USB DAC playing FLAC files is that far removed, these days, from a decent vinyl setup. It did here, and I needed a live-cd to fix the issue. It could well depend on your arch, kernel config, and set of packages installed, as well as whether you're using an initrd or not. Too bad I didn't have the time to fix or track it, so I used a live-cd, downgraded udev to 146-something, got it to boot, fixed things up in the kernel, and it is now working properly. problem with locale (characters codeset etc...)
I have not so far been able to get 'Lifelines' to work with the appropriate char codeset on my new Lenny system. What is amazing is that it did work on the same machine with my old Debian Sarge ; more amazing yet, it operates adequately on my laptop running on Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron). On both machines, I first installed Lifelines-3.0.61from the rpm packages available, then I removed this version and installed 3.0.62 instead, from sources that I compiled on both systems. I noticed no difference between 3.0.61 and 3.0.62 on either machines, but still the said differences between machines. More details thereafter : Both machines have 'French' as default language. Let me say that this is my first encounter with such problem : other programs such as OpenOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird etc.. did operate correctly right away in French with appropriate accentuated characters. So, something must be missing somewhere on one of my systems, as far as Lifelines is concerned. By the way, Lifelines works on 'vi' (vim), so I once suspected that the problem was there... but no : I tried to switch to 'gedit' with same faulty results. As previously said, after trying Lifelines-3.0.61 installed from RPM, I ditched it and installed 3.0.62 from a tarball that I compiled : it was the same tarball that was compiled on both systems... Mozilla claims that it can't be done: Configuring keyboard shortcuts Firefox does not provide any method of customizing keyboard shortcuts. Is this for real (and up-to-date)?! A serious, sophisticated GUI application that doesn't allow this sort of customization?! I suppose that I could file a wishlist bug, but if upstream already acknowledges the deficiency, is there any point? What I want to do is to bind keystroke combinations to bookmarks, so that I can open sites easily with such combos. Is there a way to do this? The Debian wiki doesn't help, probably because it is out of date, so wonder how others got it working. The ONLY thing in the Adobe tar.gz package was the flash library, which I manually copied to 2 plugin directories. I have since removed them. Even dpkg-reconfigure does nothing except complain that iceape is missing ( I never had it on this system) wierd.
