libcanberra-gtk-module is for creating/playing sound events. All that
will happen if you install it is that mutt still won't do what you want,
but you'll get an error sound to tell you.

Sounds like Firefox is thinking it crashed when it was last closed, and
so is automatically trying to restore the session which was running
before the crash.

I'd think there should be a way to prevent this auto-restore, but given
the settings you've said you already have in place, I don't know what it
would be. A bit of quick Googling suggests that the advanced preference
browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash may control the behavior, but I
can't say for certain.

Why Firefox is crashing (or closing in a way which it thinks is a crash)
is another question. I often see a duplicate "browsing session" and
"crashed session" in my session-history list, so the problem may be
happening here as well - but since I _want_ Firefox to restore tabs (and
have it set to prompt me for which session to restore, via an add-on for
the purpose), I've never had cause to dig into it.

I too launch Firefox (or rather, Iceweasel; I'm still on 38ESR, and have
seen my probably-the-same-issue symptom since at least 31ESR if not
24ESR) from a window-manager menu, although I run Enlightenment DR16
(locally built, since I keep not getting back to my effort to package it
for Debian again) rather than Xfce. Once upon a time I did habitually
launch it from a terminal window, but that was years ago, and I don't
know whether the problem happened back then.

[Xfce] firefox-esr keeps reloading previous tabs on startup

2016-06-23 Thread Mike Kupfer
Is anyone else on Jessie (x86_64) seeing a problem where Firefox
(45.2.0esr-1~deb8u1) wants to reload the tabs from the previous session,
even when the preferences are set not to do that?

I normally use "show a blank page" on startup, but I was getting either
the previous tabs or the "this is embarassing" screen (where FF tells me
it was unable to restore the tabs).

I changed to "show my home page", and I would briefly see my home page
before it was replaced by the "this is embarassing" screen.

The problem isn't 100% reproducible, but it's close to it.

I only have one extension (NoScript). Disabling it didn't help.

I have a few plug-ins installed, but they are all set to Never
Activate.

The problem seems tied to using exo-open. I see the problem when I
start Firefox via the "Web browser" entry in the main Xfce menu. I
don't see the problem if I invoke Firefox from the shell, Alt-F2, or a
customer launcher (which just runs "firefox").

Any ideas?

thanks,
mike

It might be a temporary problem with the testing installer image. Have
you filed a bug?

You could just use the jessie installer and dist-upgrade to testing.

Making sure that you have up to date firmware/BIOS and microcode

I've packaged neomutt for Debian. A Debian ITP [2] is filed. The
binaries are build in a sid environment. The sources are fetched
from [3]. The neomutt branch is used. I'll update packages as
needed. Please test the packages and let me know of any further
glitches you find. If you want, you can open an issue on [3]. The
Debian Bug Tracking System is not involved as the package isn't
uploaded yet, but will be soon.

Packages for amd64, i386 and ppc can be installed from [1].

A guaranteed technique is to install all printing related packages.

When Debian is installed it offers to install a Print Server task.
Newcomers (and others) who do this can use the web interface or 'lpinfo
-m' to get a complete list of supported printers. If the printer you
have is not listed you can be virtually assured you will have to use the
manufacturer's resources to set the device up.

If for some reason this task is not initially installed it can be
installed later with

  apt-get install task-print-server

A user would well advised to look at openprinting, org as a first step in
installing a print queue. It is usually possible to work out the name of
the required package on Debian from the advice there. Taking the
recommended option is not a bad choice.

Installing printer-driver-all is also a good move (but it does not give
you the same as task-print-server). It would lead to lpinfo giving you
the alternatives for your HP LaserJet P1102w.

> Also: a driver for the particular architecture.

I thought all drivers were built for all architectures.

Just FYI

I managed to solve this on the OptiPlex today - it took me 3h and several
reboots.

The thing is that the BIOS is locked by the admins and the built in raid
controller can not be deactivated. Thus obviously when upgrading the array
info was dumped into mdadm.conf from the built in array or may be even
before - I don't know, which lead to broken initrd.

When in the initramfs shell I had to unload all related modules because I
had only sda and sdb (no prtitions). After loading ata_piix I get all the
partitions and loading raid1 + ext4 was enough to start raid and mount
root.
mdadm -A -R /dev/md0 etc

then
mount -o bind /proc /root/proc
sys, run, dev ...

mount /dev/md2 /root
cd /root

exec /sbin/chroot . /bin/sh <<- EOF >dev/console 2>&1
exec /sbin/init ${CMDLINE}
EOF

install 3.16 kernel and update-initramfs, but first remove the wrong ARRAY
info from mdadm.conf

DONE.

messy

Problema con los logs de systemd

2016-06-23 Thread sio2

# systemctl --state failed
  UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUBDESCRIPTION
  ● systemd-journal-flush.service loaded failed failed Trigger Flushing of
Journal to Persistent Storage

# systemctl status systemd-journald
● systemd-journald.service
   Loaded: error (Reason: Invalid argument)
  Active: inactive (dead)

# systemctl status systemd-journald.socket
● systemd-journald.socket - Journal Socket
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/systemd-journald.socket; static)
   Active: inactive (dead)
 Docs: man:systemd-journald.service(8)
   man:journald.conf(5)
   Listen: /run/systemd/journal/stdout (Stream)
   /run/systemd/journal/socket (Datagram)

# systemctl start systemd-journald.socket
Job for systemd-journald.socket failed. See 'systemctl status
systemd-journald.socket' and 'journalctl -xn' for details

claro no sé por dónde tirar. He mirado a ver si había alguna modo de
no he encontrado nada.

¿Se os ocurre algo? Gracias de antemano.

I found some old reports about video output being redirected to the
external display, that might be something to investigate?

You don't run X at all? If so I'm not quite sure of to check for which
display is active or how to control backlight.

Do you mean this?: A user has or intends to buy, for example, an
HP LaserJet P1102w. How does she determine whether Debian has a
PPD and driver for it and what package to install to get them?
Sorry to be a little pedantic but it would be good to be clear on
what an answer should address?

Stretch, Radeon 4850, and backlight

2016-06-23 Thread James Lay
Hey all,

soI have an oldish iMac 24 inch.  It comes with a Radeon Mobility
HD 4850.  After install of Stretch testing, this worked fine, save for
one small issue of the backlight not going out.  As I run this as kind
of a server with no need to see the screen most of the time, I'd like
to get the backlight to go out.  So I installed firmware-linux-nonfree.
This actually causes me to get a blank screen...just the backlight on.
I can ssh into the machine, but I get no screen at all (http://askubun
tu.com/questions/688388/14-04-gets-black-screen-unless-radeon-modeset-0
).  I DO however see the backlight go out.  Right now I'm using
radeon.modeset=0 to get an active screen again.  My question is there
any way I can troubleshoot getting the backlight to go out?  I've got
to:

https://wiki.debian.org/ATIProprietary
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI

But I'm just not having much success.  Thanks for any assistance you
can giveinfo below.  lspci and dmesg:##SELECTION_END##

Meu Caro,

/usr/lib/pepperflashplugin-nonfree/libpepflashplayer.so (voir mon message

e `apt search mind map` traz pelo menos outros 2, `treesheets` e
`freeplane`.

Package: treesheets
Description-en: Data organizer that covers spreadsheets, mind mappers, and
small databases
Suitable for any kind of data organization, such as Todo lists, calendars,
project management, brainstorming, organizing ideas, planning, requirements
 gathering, presentation of information, etc.
 .
It shares many characteristics with more familiar tools, and augments their
abilities - like a spreadsheet, but supporting hierarchical data; like a mind
mapper, but more organized and compact; like an outliner, but in more than one
dimension; and like a text editor, but with structure.

Package: freeplane
Description-en: Java program for working with Mind Maps
Freeplane is a free and open source software application that supports
thinking, sharing information and getting things done at work, in school
and at home. The core of the software is tools for mind mapping (also
known as concept mapping or information mapping) and using mapped
 information.
 .
Occupying the middle ground between an editor and a diagramming tool,
Freeplane allows the user to add content as quickly and naturally as they
would in a text editor, yet producing structured content that can be
manipulated as easily as a diagram.
 .
Features include ordering ideas in nodes and freely positionable
nodes, connecting nodes, automatic/conditional styles, scripting,
add-ons, LaTeX, search/filtering, different export features, printing,
password protection of nodes/maps and more.
 .
 See http://freeplane.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page for a full

educational, and business situations. Possibilities include

As you said, i have to prepare proper chromebook to run Debian Linux (Stretch
or Jessie) or *BSD by 100-150$. Because android smart phone's display (4.8") is
too small to edit wml files for translation, plus i need real keyboard.

I'll read the links from you tomas and buy chromebook. After install all, then
i do edit wml files with Emacs day by day~

Thanks tomas again! You are good friend!

Sincerely,

Poossibly I don't understand. Do you want to install Debian on the
Chromebook?

That will depend on the hardware. But once you get running Debian on
it, Emacs won't be a big problem.

Not a complete list, but perhaps this is worthwile:

  https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/

Two randomly chosen Chromebooks there:

  https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Acer/C710-2615-Chromebook
  https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Samsung/ARMChromebook

Typically you'll get problems with some hardware support (suspend,
bluetooth, video...) but those are not crucial for Emacs to work
properly.

But perhaps I didn't understand you properly.

It's a step up on "An error has occured." :) "Filter hpcups has stopped."
is perhaps more of a precise message but it still leaves the user having
to look at an error_log and play detective.

Anyway, an enhancement request is on the table:

Thanks fort the link.
I made a mistake , I meant roxterm not xterm, xterm works perfectly
under stretch.

Re: [ot] Empresa especializada en recuperar discos duros

2016-06-23 Thread Rafael Cantos Villanueva

recuperables, no te cobraban.

Saludos

Rafa

They're not even debs -- they're build-from-source archives. But they
work great when I remember to set up multiarch.

Yes, but not having any context of 'what' filter(s) are being used, the

Més o menys seria el següent:

1. Descarreguem la imatge que ens interessi.

http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/debian-live-8.5.0-amd64-lxde-desktop.iso

2. Descomprimim la ISO.
serni@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~$ 7z
x debian-live-8.5.0-amd64-lxde-desktop.iso

 filesystem.squashfs
serni@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~$ su -
Contrasenya:
root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# losetup /dev/loop0
/home/serni/Escriptori/TMP/ISO/live/filesystem.squashfs

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# mount -t squashfs /dev/loop0 /mnt

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# mount -t proc none /root/FS/proc

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# mount -t sysfs none /root/FS/sys

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# mount -o bind /run /root/FS/run

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# mount -o bind /dev /root/FS/dev

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# mount -o bind /dev/pts /root/FS/dev/pts

i finalment fem el chroot.

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# chroot /root/FS

Ja a dins del chroot.

8. Afegim un nameserver a /etc/resolv.conf
root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:/# echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" >> /etc/resolv.conf

chroot i recuperant l'entorn.

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:/# exit

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# umount -l /root/FS/proc

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# umount /root/FS/sys

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# umount /root/FS/dev/pts

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# umount -l /root/FS/dev

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# umount -l /root/FS/run

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# losetup -D

10. A continuació generem el nou fitxer filesystem.squashfs
root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# mksquashfs /root/FS /root/filesystem.squashfs

root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# cp -a
/root/filesystem.squashfs /home/serni/Escriptori/TMP/ISO/live/

12. Regenerem la ISO amb alguna cosa com:
root@debianbox_192_168_10_2:~# genisoimage -o
debian-live-8.5.0-amd64-lxde-desktop_remake.iso -R -b isolinux.bin -c
boot.cat -A "mkisofs" -V "Debian LXDE amd64" -allow-limited-size
-allow-limited-size -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table
 /home/serni/Escriptori/TMP/ISO

O potser isomaster faria el fet.

13. Comprovar que els darrers 12 punts han funcionat ;-)

Bonjour,

It would also have found hpcups and hpijs PPDs, unless the packages
had been removed. Given the extra step of having to install a non-free
plugin and seeing foo2zjs is recommended would be a good enough reason
for choosing foo2zjs:

 lpadmin -p -v -E -m

A 10 second job after the preparatory work is done. :)

The file is in the driver file foo2zjs in /usr/lib/cups/driver. lpinfo
consults the driver file.

boot failure only on first try when starting computer

hi,

when I turn on my desktop computer (i5 Skylake) with Debian testing,
on the first try it always freezes right after the grub menu. Then
when I press reset, it always boots correctly. I have one SATA SSD (/,

mounted, has Windows).

How do I fix this? Thanks!

Hi,
this is not a critical machine. I let debian configure the raid at
installation time. Usually I do it myself and I use software raid - as you
said it is in many ways better.

What should I do to revive the raid and be able to boot? You said you have
done this.

J'avais laissé la ligne FREERADIUS_OPTIONS="-X" dans mon fichier
/etc/default/freeradius.

particions i et permet tenir vàries configuracions diferents que

makeliveusbcd /media/sda7 BoxLinux usuari homelocal

Si interessa ja diràs ...
