Instalar a keystore do ICP-Brasil no jre e habilitar o plugin no navegador.

FWIW, why don't you create a .desktop file -- firefox.desktop -- then
you don't have to start firefox from the command line. Here's mine:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=firefox
Comment= Internet Browser
Exec=/opt/firefox/firefox
Icon=/opt/firefox/browser/icons/mozicon128.png
Type=Application
Terminal=false
StartupNotify=false
Categories=Application;Internet;

Put it in /usr/share/applications/ and restart your desktop. The
system should create a menu item and icon.

LVM setup with snapshots

2018-05-10 Thread Forest Dean Feighner
I'm completely new to lvm.

lvs
LV VG Attr LSize Pool Origin Data% Meta% Move Log
Cpy%Sync Convert
root build-vg -wi-ao 463.52g
swap_1 build-vg -wi-ao 2.00g

I used the default stretch of an lvm partition with the gnome.

To me, it seems me the partition is too large to to reduce for snapshots.

I'm prolly not 'getting' lvm yet.

What would be a good layout for a stretch install doing lvm snapshots?

Thanks

Auto-assembled SW RAID in rescue mode

2018-05-10 Thread Niclas Arndt
Hello,

I have a question that I suspect comes from the way rescue mode auto RAID
assembly and grub restoration work.

I received unofficial BIOS files from Gigabyte with new versions of Intel ME
and CPU microcode. After upgrade, several Stretch machines no longer boot.
(Fresh installation works without any problem.)

I booted from USB in rescue mode, did auto-assembly of RAID arrays, mounted
/boot/efi and rewrote grub.

This made it possible to boot, but /dev/md2 was removed from fstab. I also for
the first time noticed that there is an additional /dev/md2p1 entry when
running blkid (although not in fstab).

Now /dev/md2 has a PTUUID of PTTYPE="gpt" and

/dev/md2p1 has a UUID of TYPE="ext4" with a PARTUUID.

Manual mount of /dev/md2 works, but the machine won't boot if I add an fstab
entry with the /dev/md2 PTUUID. With the /dev/md2p1 UUID in fstab it is mounted
at startup and the machine boots.

mdadm refers to the volume as /dev/md2. (I don't use lvm.)

I don't know if this is actually a problem, but I would very much like to
understand what happened. Should I / could I restore the system so that the
volume is only referred to as /dev/md2?

Thank you in advance and best regards

Niclas

Just a raw guess. NSPR address might be be taken from somewhere in current
directory, failing that from a config setting in your home directory. In /opt
directory there may be a pointer (conf file, symlink, etc.) to
"/opt/firefox/libnspr4.so" as NSPR address.

When you run firefox from within /opt, then this address is found in the
current directory, which fails. When you run firefox from anywhere else (not
just your home dir) then no pointer is found in the current directory, so your
default config setting for NSPR in your home takes precedence, which succeeds.

I would have tested this by running firefox from a completely different
(not /opt, not /home/user) directory. If it runs, then maybe this hypothesis
has a chance.

SQLite or Virtuoso might be interesting to reduce resource footprint.

And it would be nice if Akonadi works via NFS, where at least regarding
the wiki MySQL's inno db tables might be a problem. I asked on kde-pim and
kdepim-users mailing lists. And got quite some feedback. Apparently it
might just work if only one Akonadi is running and the network environment
and nfs servers are stable. Fair enough for now. KMail never worked in
mutiple instances.

And one user pointed out that its possible to use a central MySQL server
with local filesystem for Akonadi stuff.

Well let's see.

That reminded me that there can be an uncomfortable "hot smell" that's
an early warning sign that smoke and maybe a *pop-sizzle* is likely
imminent. I fried a couple different power supplies over the years
because my brain didn't cognitively register that hot smell for what
it was the second it appeared.

Those times it happened, I remember kicking myself (HARD!) for not
*simply* making sure there were no dust bunnies gathering inside the
case in the days just prior to the hardware loss. :)

Sure, it worked before some update. However, it is already fixed with

My first guess: you forgot to wipe out the old version before you unpacked
the new version into the same target directory. So now you've got a mix
of files from two different versions, and something gets confused.

Hm, dunno what version is "by default" anymore :). I just checked the

Problem with Firefox Quantum v-650.0

2018-05-10 Thread Stephen P. Molnar
I've encountered a strange problem with the latest release of Firefox
Quantum v-60.0.

Up to this point the previous versions, the 59.x.x, series had been very
happily residing in /opt/firefox. I uncompressed the downlo9aded file
as a user and thee copied the firefox directory tree as root

I did the upgrade exactly the same way, but now when I try opening
firefox I get:

comp@AbNormal:/opt/firefox$ ./firefox
XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /opt/firefox/libnspr4.so:
/opt/firefox/libnspr4.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file
or directory

Couldn't load XPCOM.

What I find really puzzling is that I can run the new version in my user
directory tree without any problems.

What is going on here?

Thanks in advance.

Fair enough. But the reason I wanted to use rmdir is precisely because
it will only remove empty directories. Any "real" information that
might happen to be present is protected from loss.

Yes, by definition, the directories only become empty (and hence
subject to rmdir) when starting at the bottom. find -depth
solves that.

The problem with using rm -r is that it wipes out any files too.
Also you can't sensibly combine it with -i (beyond the trivial).
So naturally the complexity increases with the care taken.

In summary, those two functions will remove only directories that are
empty, and only prompt for such directories regardless of how deep
they lie.

Cheers,
David.

Librement,
David

If you don't mind me asking, what is it about Stretch that you
didn't like? Jessie is quite old itself and very outdated.

As Dominic has stated, downloading source and compiling may
prove _incredibly_ painful, especially since you're running Debian 8,
which means you might have to end up downloading, compiling and
installing most of GTK, which might make things extremely difficult to
maintain in you system.

I'd go with Stretch any day instead of trying out alternate ways
of installing software. Keeping just one up should be enough.

I just noticed a similar problem on my system. I've installed systemd-cron and
purged cron.

Now systemd handles daily jobs:
$ systemctl status cron-daily.timer
● cron-daily.timer - systemd-cron daily timer
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/cron-daily.timer; static; vendor preset:
enabled)
Active: active (waiting) since Thu 2018-05-10 12:46:37 CEST; 3min 37s ago
  Trigger: Fri 2018-05-11 06:25:00 CEST; 17h left
 Docs: man:systemd.cron(7)

mai 10 12:46:37 gandalf systemd[1]: Started systemd-cron daily timer.

Now log files should be rotated again.

soft/driver.

cp -ax is not at fault, as it seems.
The reason for the problem has been identified as a file path on the
original disk which has nearly maximum length and went over the edge
when a 37 byte prefix was added to get a path on the backup disk.

It is yet unclear why the deep tree branch exists on the original disk.
Maybe result of a symbolic link loop and copying with link resolution.
Although i suspect cp to be able to detect link loops. It's not such
an unusual pitfall and the GNU core utilities surely have seen lots
of interesting situations.

So maybe it's the result of a buggy program which wanted to create one
directory with the name "grub2 problem-2018-02-13" and ended up creating
161 of them.

Have a nice day :)

Thomas

Which desktop environment (if any) are you using? It's a punt but that
might be a good first place to file; the bug can always be reassigned as
we narrow down the problem.

This is one excellent illustration of why cp is the wrong tool for this

mupdf is excruciatingly fast, but that would make four.

(BTW, Zathura was the polymorph goddess of document viewing chez the
Atlanteans in the platonic mythos. Of course, the island did sink so
maybe not a top choice.)

Not recently, because I don't use it for them, but I've had a number of
PDFs fail to render properly in Evince. Generally with drawing stuff in
them, I don't think I've seen it mess up a text-only file. Okular is
very slow to start up, but always works properly. It was generally
exports from LibreCAD and gschem, which probably weren't perfect PDFs
but which rendered fine in Acrobat on Windows. Sorry, that's the
reference standard, as it's what everyone sees my drawings with.

As always, this kind of problem occured in the middle of an urgent job,
so I did the bare minimum to get working again, (i.e. found another GUI
PDF reader) and didn't document anything. I believe I reported the bug
and attached a small example file. A quick glance at half a dozen
random old drawing PDFs with Evince doesn't show any obvious problem
(and they were) so maybe the fault has been fixed by now.
