debian ftp crashes redhat
Hi, I have a strange problem which may have to do with ftp services. A RedHat Linux box (2.0.30) acts as a gateway to the internet. I has a built-in ISDN card (avm fritzcard) and is connected to a virtual ethernet with Linux, BSD, SCO and Minix machines. Via ip forwarding the rest of the ethernet can do ftp, http etc. That of course basicly works. But: my main workstation is a pentium with debian linux 1.3.1 (2.0.30). When I do ftp to the internet via the gatway (redhat) the redhat machines crashes totally. The last message is: kernel panic: skpush: under: 001a4bf0:2 in swapper task - not syncing. Now only a hard reset brings the redhat box back to live. This happens not every time I use ftp via debian but very often. And definetly it only happns from the debian box. Using FreeBSD, SCO OpenServer, SCO Unixware or even Minix is OK over weeks and months. Any idea what can be the reason for my problem ? Btw: network adaptors are WD8013 (redhat) and 3com509 (debian). thx berni mailto [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto [EMAIL PROTECTED] - / - homepage http://homepages.giessen.netsurf.de/~nk00455 /_ --- _ -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . debian 1.3.1 apache
Hello, I have an debian box with version 1.3.1 where I want to run apache as a http server. Works! But I am unable to run any cgi scripts or SSI in my html documents. I commented out the described parts in srm.conf. What else can I do or where should I have a special look for ? thx berni mailto [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto [EMAIL PROTECTED] - / - homepage http://homepages.giessen.netsurf.de/~nk00455 /_ --- _ -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . ISA Adaptec and RAM 16 megs
Hi, I installed debian 1.3.2 on my porty computer which is an older Pentium (60) with an adaptec 1542cf ISA scsi controller. As soon as I install more than 16 megs of memory the system crashes sooner or later without any message. Reducing the memory to 16 megs stops the crashes. Can I use the adaptec1542cf only with a maximum of 16 megs ? Can't believe ! Cursor problem
Hi there, is there a chance to force the cursor ? I installed debian 1.2 on an older portable computer with LC EGA display (which is maybe a little bit incompatible). During booting the cursor is there but is away as soon as the computers bios messages are shown. Then everythings is fine except the cursor which is NOT THERE. I tried to play a little with setfont, which gave me a very small cursor but cuts a part of the screen. Any hint how I can force the cursor ? A big block cursor like on SUN machines would be great. thx bye berni -- Please respond to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] or: [EMAIL PROTECTED] and to nothing else ! -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . debian with smail
Hi there, we have an internal (virtual) domain with 192.168.0.xxx IPs. Our debian box (1.3) is the gateway to the outside world. It has an ppp connection to a provider an several uucp connections for news and file transfer. This box is also the smarthost for our domain. So smail has to - route mail within our own domain with smtp - pass mail for the outside world to the provider with smtp - transfer mail to systems with direct uucp connections Basicly everything seemed to be OK. But sometimes there is mail to an address like [EMAIL PROTECTED] (only as an example) which is going wrong. This example mail has to go via the smarthost (provider) with smtp. But it did'nt! smail tries to force a direct smtp connection which doesn't exist. Please cracks, have a look to my routers file: # do I need this entry ? inet_addrs: driver=gethostbyaddr, transport=smtp; # for my neighbours, that works fine uucp_neighbors: driver=uuname, transport=uux # some special uucp adresses, works fine paths: driver=pathalias, transport=uux; file=paths # for the internal domain (maybe this causes the problem . inet_hosts: driver=gethostbyname, transport=smtp; # required=lahn.de domain=lahn.de # smart host, OK smart_host: driver=smarthost, transport=smtp; path=freeway # transport=uux; # path=dyob # When there is mail to such a critical address I comment out the inet_hosts entry. Then the mail goes correctly via the smart host. During this time ALL internal mail is routed via smart host and is lost there. Any hint for my problem ? thx bye berni -- Please respond to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] or: [EMAIL PROTECTED] and to nothing else ! -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
