Mailfilter på lästa mail.

2003-10-24 Thread Lars Hallberg

tid (mätt i dygn)?

Men

enkel configfil i hemkattalogen. Vill göra nåt så här enkelt (eventuellt
kunna speca olika mailboxformat också):

file mbox inbox

inbox - ~/mbox
Mail - ~/Mail

Å sedan göra den till imap root... Är lite orolig för hur olika

Re: Svenska tecken i gnome? FIX!

2003-02-11 Thread Lars Hallberg

Att göra om locale konfigureringen hjälpte:

# dpkg-reconfigure locales

local raporterar:

$ locale
LANG=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_CTYPE=
LC_NUMERIC=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_TIME=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_COLLATE=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_MONETARY=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_MESSAGES=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_PAPER=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_NAME=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_ADDRESS=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_TELEPHONE=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_MEASUREMENT=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_IDENTIFICATION=sv_SE.ISO-8859-1
LC_ALL=

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

g++ targetcompali - dos 8086 code?

Is it posably (whit debian packages) to targetcompile C++ code

at all?

I prefere g++ or a g++ relative but if that is not possably
anything goes (even commersial).

If not again, is anyone runing an dos C++ compiler succesfully
under DOSEMU? Or just know about a dos C++ compiler that can
produce 8086 code and is more upp to date then the Borland

 1.2 What is rex/bo/hamm? unstable/stable?
 2. Installation and Upgrading
 2.1 Installing from Scratch

2.2 Upgrading from a Previous Release
2.2.1 - What do I have to do?
 2.3 Networking
 2.4 X Windows

you'll want to do that whether you're running bind or not.

Craig, sorry, got to ask You one thing...

Humm, I use diald. It do for some reason lose the first package on a new
fresh conection. My ugly workaround is to have no local nameresolving and
the nameserver listed multiple times in /etc/resolv.conf. This way the first
nameresolving atempt fails, but brings up the link, the nemeresolving is
then retryed (thanks to multipel entrys in resolv.conf) and evrething comes
upp as expected.

This ugly workaround is expensiv as I cant have any lokal nameresolving.
Much iritating as my ISP's DNS is frekvently down...

As I understands it this is a problem allot of peple on this list have and
I wonder: Do You know a way to 'cleanly' configuer diald/pppd? Or do You
know a less expensiv/ugly workaround?

Pointers to FM is welcome.

Hope I have not missed something obvius...

Depending on installation order, you could install xproc with xload,
xcontrib with xload, then upgrade to xcontrib without xload and loose
xload. Re-install xproc and it will be there.

If dpkg, when removing a pagage, check if any other package owns any files
before removing them - this kind of problem will not happen

I think this also will avoid futer problem like the curent swap of Latex

Where should I start? C, C++, Perl, Python, Tk, Bash script language,
 AWK, SQL, itcl?

When programming in the past I wrote menu-based small databases most of
the time and I would like to be able to write programs that are
useful to me and that can be ported to a Dos/Windows environment because
none of my colleagues are Linux-users. I have tentatively started
working on a book 'Learn C++ Today' together with some documentation on gcc.

Which is the best way from here?

If portabel GUI-databases is what you want i think SQL and Tcl/Tk is best.
I prefere Python before Perl but i think Python is UNIX only (corect my if
I'm wrong) so You probably want Perl to compliment Tcl... C and C++ is never
bad to lern and can do what you want if You chose (or write :-) the right
librarys. However, I think You both lern and use Perl/Tcl/Tk faster so if
Your apps don't NEED the power of C/C++ it might be a overkill. Then ther
is Java, but i dont know if it has god interfaces to local databases. I
have herd of DB2 clones for UNIX so You migt find a solution ther (but
not the most fun).

Re: DEITY TEAM -- REQUEST FOR FUNCTIONALITY and COMMENTS

1997-04-16 Thread Lars Hallberg
I like the consept of dselect as it is but som improvments are welcome.
The sugestions is sorted in thre cattegorys: 1) Small improvments to
dselects interface. 2) Bigger new featurs to dselect. 3) New / improved
featurs involving possably changes to the pakage managment system.

Lets start with 1) small improvments to dselects interface...

1.1 The enter key

When the user press ENTER no strange fings must happen. If its a menu, the
higlited item is shosen (as it works now). Some sugestuons for other cases:

ENTER in the package list: pop up a screan describing the pakage curent
status in verbose text at the top. The rest of the pop-up is a menu wher
You can chose wath to do with the pakage. All the pakage status in verbose
(instal, purge, hold, unhold etc). Seperated by a line some options not
conected to the curent package (abort menu, check dependensis and go to
main menu, go to main menu without checking dependensys, abort session
whitout saving changes, show pakage deskription full screan (aborted
whit enter), show pakage filelist in full screen, change
preferenses/view etc).

ENTER in the dependesy resuluton list shold be much the same whit som extra
opten like: abort dependency screen whitout saving shanges made (inkluding
the changes premade by dselect). The view description option above is werry
neded here.

All this option shuld have an accalrator key asigned. It shold also be
presented in an cosistent way in the menus, eg in squar brakets. This will
help newbes bekome DEITY-gurus an fly along...

1.2 Change focus
If the user press TAB Focus shold be moved. In the package list focus is
cycled thru deskripton window (allow scroll of deskription whit cursor keys
and space), some menus att the top of scrern (preferenses, help etc) and the
man package list window. The option to scroll the deskription window with a
accelarator key shold be keept.

1.3 Limited view
When presing enter on the header line the first menu shose shuld be to toggel
the if that group shold pe precented or not. In the begining all sections
shold be closed. This will make it easier to navigate the huge set of debian
pakages.

1.4 Posability to treat recomends as recomends
Or shold I say as sugests. This shose shold be posably to do from the
preferens menu. It's ok (possably best) if the preferenses is reset to some
default when the program is restarted. Changes to the default preferenses
should be posably thru a config file (dotfile).

2) Bigger improvments

2.1 Searched view
A advansed serch screen would be nice. It shuld seartch the pakage names,
descriptions, filelists, possably depenndensis in a powerfull manner. You

maching Your querry. Dependesy resulution most of corse check all pakage.
It would be nice to be able to save the querrys as well

2.1 Loging / Supressing of mesages
Loging of what dselect have done and any problem wold be nice. Supression of
the famus skipping mesage whold be nice. A preeview what dselect is about to
do wold be nice (a list of packages to install/deinstall/perge). If the
preeview is alreddy sorted in dependency order that wold bbe nice. Dependency
sorting is allredy in the DEITY project? else that is a major sugestion!

2.2 Different default for different distrubutions.
An exampel. DEITY is ponting both att stable and unstabel. I do have a pakage
from stabel in status unhold and want it to be automaticly shosen for
uppgrade if ther is a new version in stabel. But I only want it to upgrade
to unstable if I tell it to. What i want is some mekanism to tell that I want
to know about new stuff from some source and I want to bee able to install it
by selecting it but I dont want to automagicly uppgrade to it..
   undurstandable?

3.1 Pree Configure
If a pakage has a PreeConfigure script that shuld be run from DEITY when the
pakage is shosen for install BEFORE the dependensy resolution given the script
a change to resolv the dependensys in a more context avare manner. This will
add posabilatys to maake great meta pakages. This dose not demand that the
config info is stored in the selection database but it be nice to at least
hav a pointer to the config info in the database to make it posibly to
distrubute it automaticly betwen maskines. Posably adding an uninteraktive
option to install making pakages having wrong preeconfiginfo fail insted of
go interaktiv on install (makes it even more possably to make automated
upgrades of several maskines).

3.2 Meta and slave package
Slave pakages is pakages that is normaly not shoved i DEITY selections lists.
if thay are neaded they are chosen automagicaly an if the ar not neaded they
are removed automagicaly. For smal pakages that take no costom configuration
and comes in only one version. It shold be possably thru the preferenses to
make DETIY treat slave pakages just like ordanary pakages.

Meta pakages is pakages that makes it esier to install other pakages with a

As I understand it, Unix terminal IO is buffered, so nothing will

send at least one new line. (Similarly by default even character

I think buffers are suposed to get flushed when a program terminates

runing Your own 'test' by spesifying the path (./test).

  Hi.

I'm new to this list and Debian. I have the following question. I have
been using Linux for quite some time now and I recently upgraded to a

to dedicate this machine to Linux now (1,2gb). What would be the ideal
partition sizes to split up the hdd for Linux? It'll be used for
developing mainly and for internet connectivity. I will most likely also
be running X. Any answers to this will be really appreciated. I don't want
to put linux on one big partition.

  -Paul

The question of partitioning the harddisk is a question of beliefe, I think.
But if you have a stand alone home PC, I think it is not worth it to split
up the harddisk. The main reason to do this is to protect the data on the
other partitons, if one of them chrashes. So you don't have to re-install the
whole system. But there is a drawback:
+ It is only easy to reinstall if you backup regularly (the whole disk!).
Do you have a streamer to do this?
+ The modern harddisks should not chrash (ok, this is no guarantee...), and
on a stand alone PC the disk is not so hard used (indeed, most of the time
   it rests).
+ If you have a lot of partitions, a lot of harddisk space will be wasted,
because you have to keep the partitions big enough to hold the data, but:
+ you are in big trouble, if you have made a partiton too small, because you
can't change the partiton size without weeping the whole disk.

So if you take the risk of one big partition, you do not have the question
of partition it, on the other hand, IF something happens...

I use a smal root partition (~17M) and two smal swap-partitions (so I can
deactivate one and use for temporary use like a temporary root while
recovering from a mayor crach). The rest is one big filesystem (monted /ext0
and /usr /home /var and /tmp is soft symlink from the root partiton. This
give You the flexibility of a big partition and still a smal and hopfully
verry stable root.

(I dont know if hard symlink is better, the soft ones is working here so far)

Hope this is useful info /Lars

Intresting problem (and diald WARNING)

1997-03-12 Thread Lars Hallberg
Hello

First a smal warning about diald: If Your etc/diald.ip-up script for some
reason is 'hanging', then will diald keep the link up (this is probably
documented behavior, but I was suprised anyway...). I noticed this
becose my ip-up script was 'hanging' on a pipe to /dev/xconsole. I got
diald work as expected by making /etc/diald.ip-up just bakgrund another
shellscript (doing all the 'real' work). Sadly, that do bring up other
problems... This is the script i do background from /etc/diald.ip-up:

 /etc/diald.fetch-up --
#!/bin/bash
#
# Fetch and send mail
#
# Run by diald.ip_up when diald have conected to internet
# Got 30 sec to complete before killed by diald.fetch-kill!
#
echo -e `date`: Running /etc/diald.fetch-up\\r /dev/tty8
echo -e `date`: Running /etc/diald.fetch-up\\r /dev/xconsole
echo `date`: fetchmail run from diald.fetch-up /root/mail-log
#
# Stopp fetchmail if alredy runing (probably a bug).
#
/usr/local/bin/fetchmail --quit -f /root/.fetchmailrc -L /root/mail-log
#
# Starta fetchmail in deamon mode and send qued mail.
#
/usr/local/bin/fetchmail -f /root/.fetchmailrc -b 10 -L /root/mail-log -d 600
-t 300
runq
-- end /etc/diald.fetch-up

Some subprces of this script is hanging, probably the subproces
started by the line:

echo -e `date`: Running /etc/diald.fetch-up\\r /dev/xconsole

I suspect this line becose the problem do have something to do with
/dev/xconsole as it only hangs when the xconsole loging is broken.
I don't know what's braeking the xconsole but it happen in the first
day of system uptime (and is OK after a reboot). I do suspect the
cron.daily scripts. More intresting is the side-efects of this
process hanging on xconsole. For some reason cron-jobs starts to
hang when this process hangs. I can't login as root when this happens
but ther's no problems in using existing root-shells. User login is
OK to. If I kill the proces hanging on xconsole all cronjobs do finish
and the system is back at normal (exept xconsole who is still broke).
If I don't kill it the cronjobs keep piling up until the system load
craches the mashine :(

I do work-around this problem by leting /etc/diald.ip-up also
background this script:

-- /etc/diald.fetch-kill -
#!/bin/bash
#
# Kill ev. 'hangin' diald.fetch-up
# * DO NOT USE WITH ISDN CONECTION WITHOUT PRECOTION **
#
# Started by diald.ip_up when diald have conected to internet
#
# Give diald.fetch-up 30 secs to complete
#
sleep 30
#
# Then kill any remaining diald.fetch-up *twice*!
#
kill `ps -x | grep diald.fetch-up | gawk -- {print \\\$1}`
sleep 1
kill `ps -x | grep diald.fetch-up | gawk -- {print \\\$1}`
sleep 2
#
# Mean kill any diald.fetch-up *stil* remaining!
#
kill -9 `ps -x | grep diald.fetch-up | gawk -- {print \\\$1}`
sleep 1
kill -9 `ps -x | grep diald.fetch-up | gawk -- {print \\\$1}`
#
# Hope this is enuf. Don't dear kill anymore as diald might have a new
# *real* conection comming up soon... If You use ISDN it is probably
# far to lait already
#
 end /etc/diald.fetch-kill ---

This is (so far) keeping my system from craching :) but it is an
ugly work-around. I can live with an broken xconsole but I still
want to know wats realy is wrong with my system. Do You have any
ide:

o Why is xconsole broke? lsattr /dev/xconsole (when it's broke) give:
  lsattr 1.06, 7-Oct-96 for EXT2 FS 0.5b, 95/08/09
lsattr: Invalid argument While reading flags on /dev/xconsole
(dont know what it gives when xconsole is working, and I don't
want to reboot as I am trying to find out if this 'fix' can keep
my system up for a 'long' time).
o Why is root login broken when an proces is hanging on the broken
xconsole and why is cronjobs hanging at this time?
o Any sugestions on what to read or what to investigate on my system
  is welcome.

All the cron.daily script on the machine is as installed by Debian
(the standard script has some find ... rm lines commented out whit a
referens to a security hole. The other scripts do find ... rm call.
Any reason to worry? Where can I read about this security hole?)

I do know this is unexact questions but it is the best I can do. I
had this problem with Debian 1.1 kernnel 2.0.0 and I upgraded to
Debiann 1.2.6 and kernel 2.0.27 in hope it was an 2.0.0 related
problem but the problem did not go away... I use the prebuilt Debian
'install' kernels (no kernel compile). All the cron.daily script on
the machine is as instaled by Debian (the standard script has some
find - rm lines comented out whit a referens to a security hole.
The other scripts do find - rm call. Any reason to worry? Where
can I read about this security hole?)

This problem has become more 'intresting' and less 'frustrating' as
I don't need to do bad reboots avery day any more

Ask if You need to know anything more.

Sorry for my poor english and TIA /Lars

What can make login/bash(or somthing) 'hang'?

1997-03-06 Thread Lars Hallberg
I'm sorry I cant give exact description of the problem becose I don't know.
My system is craching almost every day becose it fills up with processes
(400) and run out of memory or gets to high system load (200). It seems
like cron job sleeps infinitly wating for some system-call. After some time
(3-4H) two new cron-processes starts to be added every minut (can be atruns
but I do not have any atjobs (I think)). This fills upp my maskin wich will
eventuly crash. To add to the problems I cant login as root once the
problem have started and I cant shutdown the system with Ctr-Alt-Del ether
:( User logins are fine as long system load is not *to* high.

The cron.daily scripts runs fine but the problems, at least usaly, starts
after the cron.daly scrips is run. I am a bit lost and I have run out of
ides. This problem started on Debian 1.1 kernel 2.0.0 and I have upgraded
to Debian 1.2.6 and kernel 2.0.27 without inprovments (in this respect).
The system is an I486 100 with 16MB memory ans EIDE disks. The uppgrade
to debian 1.2 left me with both a update-pakage an the new bdflush-pakage,
witch I think is suposed to replace update? However, i cant purge update
and I dont think --force is a good ide in this case? It cant be the main
problem as the problem was ther before the upgrade

I need help to find out wats hanging and why. Some indications:

At login prompt, typing wrong pasword results in an imediate Login
incorect. Login then produses NO new login but getty (or whatever) times
out in 60secs produsing a new login. If a type in right login as root it
reports last login and then hangs infinitly. At the same time I can login
as a user! This make me suspect the root .profile and .bashrc but i cant
find anything stange there. At the same time allot of script/cronjobs
starts hanging. If I do alredy have a root shell active I can still use
it and if I kill all the 'hanging' jobs and restarts cron the system
usaly starts workinng normaly again??? Do You have any clue.

Is it possably to tell what service a sleeping process is waiting for?
Anyone experienst somthing like this?

If You can tell what fine manual(s) I shuld read I be greatfull.

MH 6.8.4-8 broken or feature?

1997-02-19 Thread Lars Hallberg
I promiced to report my upgrade 1.1 - 1.2. I did belive I done that but do
so no more It was probably trapped by the spam filter and newer returned
to me. The upgrad of MH to 6.8.4-8 broke my From field. The upgrade story is
old by now but I repost it if You want to.

First the row localname: micropp.se was removed from /etc/mh/mtstailor
and the FAQ describing it was removed from /usr/doc/mh. Both werry
understndable as mh no longer care about that line when I put it back...

Is ther another way to specify the E-mail domainame whit this version of mh,
or is it a bug. It cant be intended to force the maskin-name into the E-mail
adress? Must be a comon case where peopel run the mail apps on network-clients
with maskin-names diferent from the right E-mail name.

I have read the docs in /usr/doc/mh/papers and many of the mh man pages
inncluding the man page of post (hwo is probably messing up IMHO).

Do anyone have a simular problem? Ponters? solutions?

AFIK smail cant change the From field in outgoing mail. Dont want to swap my
MDA over this and i starts to like both mh comandline tools and exmh...

A temporarly fix is to put a From: field in ~/Mail/components but that results
in an incorect Sender: field insted. Hope the Spamfilter dont trap the Sender:
field...

SWAP problem, have anyone seen it?

1997-02-19 Thread Lars Hallberg
Hello!

I do have a problem with my debian system. It do work OK for one day, but
then in one day or two i do get (lots of) swap errors like

swap_duplikate: trying to duplicate unused page
Bad swap-tabel entry (not exact wording)
trying to free unused page (not exact wording)

After a while the system runs out of memory (out of memory for cron, out of
memory for update...etc). I then cant log in or do anything usefull. Sometimes
I still can swap betwen wc but not do any Ctr-Alt-Del will sometimes start
to do somthing but will newer shutdown the system... lots of bad rebots...

This started under Debian 1.1 kernel 2.0.0, I then uppgraded to Debian 1.2.5
and kernel 2.0.27 (instaled kernel - no costom recompile). I have a intel
486 DX4 100 on an Asus mothercard AMI-bios and a 1.2 GB EIDE harddisc.
16M RAM and 64M Swap (later changed into two 17M Swap-partisions - No progres).

After uppgrading my kernel reports to be 2.0.27 at boot-time, but kerneld
reports 2.0.0 while booting. Is this normal?

The problem do (alvays?) happen when the machin is idle so I have checked the
BIOS powersave options an disabled some that was previos enabled (whitout
progress).

   Have anyone sen something similar?
Can this be a bad swap partision?
Hove du You check a swap partision?
(I have rebuid the swap whit mkswap)
   Pointers, anything?

If this is a bug somewhare, can I be to help with debuging info? This thing
is happening about 3-4 times every week so it shuld be debuggable. Is ther
anny loggs I shuld look into? Debuging mode I shuld aktivate? Tell me! If
You ned more info ask me!

I'm afraid all thes bad reboots gona bite me finaly. Help is werry welcome.

Any sugestion besides going thru the Bios setup again (pointers to the bios
setup is welcome to)?

TIA /Lars (Hope You can understand, and stand, my poor english)

Re: Better Categorization (was: improvements)

1997-01-11 Thread Lars Hallberg
Brian C. White [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
I think it would be a good idea to add a Keywords: line to the control
information for Debian packages. This would be an extension to the
Section: field with the section being considered the primary keyword.

A user-interface utility would then allow the user to narrow/expand
the list of package presented. For example: ^^

God, god, don't (necesary) need that fancy interface. Add a submenu in curent
dselect betwen main-menus selct entry and the select screen. In that submenu
You can chose one of the sections or all sections. Dselects standard way of
going to the next menu item when returning from previus selection will make
it real nice to browse all the sections one at the time. Keywords is god too,
but a posability to view one section at the time will help allot (it's easy
to get lost in 1.1's pakage-list, 1.2 is twice as big right?).

The dependency/conflict screen must of corse show all involved pakages,
regardless what section they in.

   Sections:

   [ ] admin [ ] base[ ] comm[ ] contrib
   [ ] devel [ ] doc [ ] editors [ ] experimental
   [ ] games [ ] graphic [ ] smail [ ] math
   [ ] misc[ ] net [ ] news[ ] nonfree
   [ ] shells [ ] sound [ ] text[ ] x11

contrib experimental and nonfree maybe should be prioritys (right term for
Required, important... ?) rather then sections? Probably complicated but an
editor is an editor even if exprimental or nonfree.

I do like this prioritys. don't take them out of dselect - it's a graet
hint to novice users. Like them so much I think they usefull to build an
esy install tool on.

EASY INSTALL TOOL SUGESTION

Let the user chose a priority fore eatch section then install all pakages
whit that or higer priority. Possably adding 'none' as an option on some
sections (You dont need games at all). The install should be done in the
least likely to break order. Debian is a Big and complicated. It's in the
nature of an 'complet' Linux (U**X - or anny 'real' OS) distrubution. To
make things worse, its a constantly moving target. The install must be able
to stand some dependesy bugs I dont know the safest order but to give
on exampel: Install all pakages of higest priority, then take every
priority in order. For every priority start whith the base section
follewed by the admin section and then the rest.

In this way will the info that controlls the easy install be visible in
dselect. That makes it easy to know what You have changed from the
default and esy to recover to the default if You get 'lost'.

This easy install tool will automaticly follow debians evulosion as
pakages change priority and new sections is introdused. Thats a good
thing too

I do know You can make selections i dselect on sections and on different
prioritys for eatch sections much as this easy install tool is sugested to.
I think it's still is a point in an tool that makes that even MORE easy...

Hope You can stand (and understand) my English... /Lars

Re: A proposal to improve dselect

1997-01-09 Thread Lars Hallberg
Hello

I think the ide of a simpel istall-tool as a compliment to dselect
wery-much-as-it-is is a god ide. Making dselect more a mangement tool
then an install tool. Dselect is a good managment tool, but less god
first install tool for inexperient users. Most of the problems that
comes with dselect comes of less sucessfull atempt to be a install
tool for a novice. One is the way dselect treats recomend dependece.
The intension, as I understand it, is to give more guidance to
novice users. To some extent it do help keeping systems sane, but
ther MUST (IMHO) still be a way to tell dselect to treat recomends
like it treats sugests. A comand line toggel wold do. Also a experient
user gain allot from using dselect, so ponting att dpkg as an
alternativ is not the answer her.

This leaves us with to questions

o How to inprove dselect further as an mantain-tool. I find most
of the previus posters 'smal' sugestions, like inproved searches,
less noice, logging e t c being god and construktive ones.

  o How a simpel install-tool may look.

To open a third question, when debian is first run dselect starts
automagicaly, then disapers from the startup equaly automagicaly.
IMHO it is better to start some 'debian install/maintain menu' from
root bashrc (or what ewer). dselect, the new install tool, the basic
docs, posably some of the tools from the install disks (module
config, kebordsettup, systemname setupp etc) and a shell is nice
fings for that menu. That menu shuld not disaper automagicaly!
Anny user not noving how to remove it will not want to remowe it!
It's great for a novice to have all the basic stuff handy in place.

This new esy-install-tool and smal fixes to dselect will fast make
debian better an more atractiv without loosing anny old featurs.

In the long run i think dselect should work aganst some library
that works both from a terminal and from X and svgalib e t c with
the same aplication source. Big changes (if neded) can wait untill
this rewrite.

I am working on one, but the documentation is poor and even worse
(for most of You) only in Swedish. In short, it's intended to be
som kind of 'Meta library' or wraparound not implementing much
self if its alredy availbly. But giving one programming-interface
to allot of userinterface. Also making it 'esy' to add new user
interface. Anyway, it not in a usefull state yet. If annyone is
intrested, mail me and I mail back when i have some desent
documentation on my Webpage. At that time, any help will be
welcome! Pleace dont expect rapid reply, I do not have all the
time i want :(

Sorry for my poor english /Lars

UUCP problems

1996-11-07 Thread Lars Hallberg Micro++
Hello

I have some problem with my UUCP. The line disconnects in the beginning of
the handshake. I have tried with another MYsystemNAME and then the remote
(ISP) side complains verbose that You are unknown to me so I'm apparently
using the right MYsystemNAME. Funny thing is that my ISP runs Linux (old hacked
and pached slackware) and Taylor UUCP. I don't know the version on my ISP's
UUCP but mine is Taylor 1.06.1. I have Linux kernel 2.0.0 installed from debian
1.1 (Pacific HiTech, Mo' Linux August 1996). I have purged and reinstalled
UUCP over FTP several times, The current package is:

ii uucp1.06.1-2 Unix to Unix Copy Program

I've struggled with this one for some while... Any tip would be appreciated.
How can I find out if it's me or my ISP that mess up? If you need more
information, please mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is the debuging log

session is over TCP, it's the same result over modem... Note the nested
