Hi Tom! System: up to date Debian Testing, 64 bit, Gnome 3.14 I'm trying Gnome again after several years of using Fluxbox and need some help with creating a custom keyboard shortcut. I'm using 8 workspaces and successfully created keyboard shortcuts for workspaces 1-4 using Settings- Keyboard-Shortcuts. Shortcuts for workspaces 5-8 require custom shortcuts. What is the command to use in creating these? I've had no luck finding the answer in the Gnome Help Guides, by using Google search, or by posting to the Gnome mailing list. Hello Marco! in the next few days I'll have to replace an old server running Debian Sarge with a new machine, and I was wondering: maybe I should directly install Etch on it, now that it almost reached its stable status? I know I could install Sarge and then upgrade to Etch afterwards, but a previous upgrade from Woody to Sarge was not totally successful, so I'd prefer to avoid this, if possible. It's a production server so stability is important, although it mostly serves as a Samba PDC and file sharing machine, mailserver only for internal (LAN) mail, and some other minor stuff (HTTP, Jabber...). Hi! I'm looking for a ssh client that runs on a webserver. Something I can connect to using a regular web browser and then connect to a ssh server from that server (Instead of the connection originating from the client) Trying to circumvent a firewall that only let's out port 80 and 443 AND proxied. I've browsed sourceforge and googled on it, but i'm only able to find java based clients, but they all start the ssh connection straight from the client instead of the server. Hello Tshepang! A killer app is an application that compels one to use a certain system. On Debian lists, someone mentioned that meld, a GUI diff utility, was killer. I can't think of any I have because I moved to GNU/Linux for its said overall magnificence, instead of a particular application, and today there's isn't one utility I admire so much I'd consider such... maybe gnome-terminal, lsof, grep, top, epiphany-browser, or less. I'd mention admirance for Blender, GCC, Python but they are cross-platform. I'd mention GNOME, but it's a 100 apps. So I give up and ask you, what's your killer app(s)? There are two sides of a killer application. One side is: - the useful one: vim, xmms, muttng, suspend-to-... - the apps which make me sad: firefox, VMWare, synaptics. But the real killer are my kids. I do not know how they able to crash the computer but they do it. My son destroy my x server and I have to remove and reinstall the complete stuff. Hello Paolo! I went back to debian sid after using ubuntu for a few months. So far, i've been able to configure my thinkpad t42p to resemble some ubuntu goodies except for fn-f12: nothing happens when i hit it, as supposed to hibernate using ubuntu. I have verified that echo disk /sys/power/state just works though. Any hint how ubuntu did it? Also, how do i enable graphical notification of screen brightness in gnome when i use the appropriate fn-key combination, similar to ubuntu? Thanks. You have to install the acpi and acpid stuff. Hallo Geronimo! Nur bei apache2 und php5 bekomme ich es nicht gebacken. Anfangs dachte ich, es liegt an dem fehlenden Link für php in mods-enabled - und habe diesen eingefügt. Jetzt wurde php wenigstens im Status mit angezeigt. Allerdings öffnet sich bei jeder php-Datei ein download-Fenster im Browser. Ok, dachte ich - vielleicht erkennt der apache noch net, dass er php anders behandeln soll ... und habe versuchsweise in der php5.conf die tags IfModule auskommentiert. Jetzt erkennt der apache zwar den Dateityp als PHP-Script, aber er schickt es immer noch als download. Wenn ich mich nicht irre, war bislang nur notwendig, bei apache2 das Paket libapache2-mod-php5 zu installieren. Danach lief es. Ich habe auch schon im bts gesucht - leider ohne Erfolg. Auch die Suche im Archiv der ML war nicht sonderlich ergiebig. ... by the way: In die Suchfunktion der ML scheint sich ein kleiner Käfer eingeschlichen zu haben, denn bei jedem Link bekommt man einen 404. Glücklicherweise läßt sich der Thread meist auch über die Datumsangabe finden, sodass man trotzdem weiter lesen kann. Für einen Tip, wie ich php5 und apache2 wieder zum Laufen bekomme (ohne den Weg über die Quelltext-Pakete) wäre ich sehr dankbar. Vielleicht fehlt ja so was wie: IfModule mod_php5.c AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml .php3 .php4 AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps /IfModule Oder vielleicht fehlt der Link im mods-enabled Verzeichnis. Das hier ist debian-user-german und nicht sell-your-old-laptop oder Falls Du es versäumt haben solltest, meine erste mail zu lesen, so möchte ich es Dir gern nochmals sagen: Ich habe leider nur negative Erfahrungen mit/bei ebay machen dürfen; zumindest überwiegend. Somit werde ich von diesem Portal weder heute noch morgen Gebrauch machen. Ebenso habe ich mit und in meiner ersten mail ja auch für dieses OT entschuldigt. Ich finde das ganz in Ordnung, auch mal so was zu diskutieren. Wenn es nicht interessiert, dem sei empfohlen, doch die Mails einfach zu löschen. Mich hat es interessiert und weiß, das der Laptop unter Debian läuft. Wenn ich nicht so weit weg wohnen würde (England), hätte ich mich auch in die Diskussion eingeschaltet. Hallo Klaus! wie kann ich meinen Rechner schlafen lassen, d.h. seine Aktivität auf ein Minimum reduzieren ohne ihn auszuschalten, wenn ich ihn längere Zeit nicht benutze? Das hatte ich schonmal hingekriegt, ich weiß aber nicht mehr wie. Bei kurzem Druck auf den Power-Knopf schaltete sich der Standbye-Modus ein, nach längerem Druck schaltete er ab. Das ist bei mir auch jetzt noch so, aber nach kurzem Druck passiert nichts. Im BIOS habe ich keinen entsprechenden Eintrag gefunden, wahrscheinlich macht Debian das, aber wie? Kann mir jemand auf die Sprünge helfen? Hast Du hibernate installiert? Die acpi* Sachen braucht man auch. Auf dem Laptop funktioniert suspend-to-ram und suspend2 wunderbar und auf Arbeit habe ich suspend1 am laufen. Mit dem Standardkernel CU Michael -- ,''`. More informations are not bad. But I believe that you use kernel 2.6 with Sarge. And that cannot find your SATA drive. My thinking was to download the first three ISO Binary images 31r3 on CD and start from there but it looks like that the right format is .deb or tar.gz. It was possible to unzip tar.gz files but after ./configure some error messages were displayed telling me compilers ect. are missing. What is the right installation procedure of the packages to build up a system from scratch able to office programs, to have internet access, be able to print? What can I do with these three iso binary images? Any use of 1.8GB of data and if yes, how can I use them? Sorry to bother you but I couldn’t find an answer to my basic question even not in my books which deals more with SUSE or Red-Hat. They make it easy just to mount CD1, CD2, … but I would like to build the system from scratch. If you have no background why do you try to build your system from scratch. I know that there is a project to create debian from scratch but the only real from scratch system is gentoo (aik). If there is any book you can recommend, please, do so! I think you happened upon a bug that needs reporting. AFICT there should be one place for such files e.g. a canonical place. Hello Victor! Hello. I'm having various problems related to audio cd. I'm using a T43 with sid installed. Here is a list of the symptoms: - If logged into my gnome session, I insert an audio cd and the system freezes completely. I hear the sound of the cd when it is being recognized by the system. An Audio CD appear on the Desktop, but when all this ends, the system does not respond at all. I can only switch it off and reboot. If the CD is in the tray at boot time, or if I insert the Cd before logging into gnome, there is no problem. - xmms does not find the audio tracks in /cdrom or /dev/cdrom However, other programs (grip, cdplay) are able to find the tracks and play the CD. - I can not rip the audio CD. cdparanoia, from the command line, freezes the system immediately (only output is cdparanoia version number, and then silence, and then freeze). The same happens with grip. It can play the Cd as I said, but trying to rip it freezes the system (I understand grip uses it's a built in cdparanoia code). Anyway, that's the situation. Any help? Hallo Evgeni! Du brauchst aiglx, um das zum Laufen zu bringen. Dann bring bitte AIGLX unter FGLRX zum laufen, dann bist du mein Held des Tages. Ach was, der Woche! AIGLX/compiz geht nur mit radeon und den neuen NVIDIA Betas gut. Wie es bei Intel aussschaut weiß ich nicht, sollte aber eigentlich auch. Über nvidia kann ich nichts sagen, aber mit dem xorg radeon Treiber geht es gut. Ich mußte nur die xorg.conf ändern und schon lief es. Config kann ich Dir nicht senden, da ich gerade auf Arbeit bin. Bloß radeon != FGLRX, und wenn OP oder ich ne Karte haben, die mit radeon nicht geht, dann gucken wir dumm in die Röhre ;-) Das Thema ATI und opensource ist wirklich traurig. Hello! When you say couldn't read DVDs, do you mean that you couldn't mount a data DVD, couldn't watch a movie, or couldn't mount a movie DVD? Hi Doug, The answer is yes :) The original drive reacted to movie DVDs and DVD-RWs by buzzing and whirring for a little while before giving up, sometimes ejecting the disk, but it could read normal CDs and CDRs just fine. Now, with the replacement, I can read DVD-RWs and CD-Rs, but not music discs. The icon will pop up on the desktop with label Music Disc (or something close to that), and within 30 seconds the machine will lock up. Clicking the icon causes the machine to lock immediately. Try to isolate the problem. In case its a desktop (Gnome?) problem, boot up into a regular shell, not graphics. Try to mount the CD-R and DVD-RW and read the filesystem. Try to play a music CD with a text-based cdplayer. If any of this fails, you should get some usefull error messages. If it all works then the problem is with Gnome. I have the same problem. Can play CD with an console player but not using gcd or sound-juicer. DVD no problem (when it works). I believe it is a problem with a gnome library. Using SID CU Michael -- ,''`. Doch warum läd er nicht im ausgeschalteten Zustand? Wird was im BIOS verändert das dazu führt. Vielleicht hast Du einfach tp_smapi so eingestellt. das er nicht mehr als 70 % zuläßt. Such mal nach /etc/init.d/tpsmapi-utils. Das ist bei mir dafür zuständig. Und so weit ich das gelesen haben, ist es gar nicht so schlecht die Batterie nicht immer ganz vollzuladen. Hallo Thomas! ich schreibe dir, weil mich einige Frage wurmen. Und zwar betreibe ich mittlerweile auf einem Debian (etch, aktueller Stand) erfolgreich den VMWareServer. Hierbei handelt es sich um einen handelsüblichen Rechner (FSC Esprimo) mit einer SATA-Platte. Da die VMs mittlerweile produktiv laufen mache ich mir Sorgen um die Ausfallsicherheit, da die VMs 24/7 laufen sollen. Ich möchte gerne zwei Fälle abfangen: - Plattenausfall/ -crash - Hardwareausfall/-crash (zB. Mainboard, CPU,..) Dafür habe ich einen baugleichen Rechner besorgt, den ich gerne mit zwei SATA-Platten ausstatten würde, um einen LVM (mirror) drüberzulegen... Jetzt habe ich folgende Fragen: - Reicht es (bei einem Hardware-Ausfall zB Mainboard) die Platten in den anderen Server einzubauen? Startet dieser ohne weiteres oder muss dabei noch Handarbeit angelegt werden?! - Reicht es (bei einem Festplattenausfall) den Server kurz runterzufahren, eine neue Platte einzubauen? Kommt das System dann trotzdem hoch oder wie rebuilded man dann? - Wie ziehe ich am besten von meinem bestehenden System (1xSATA) auf das LVM-System um? Die Rechner haben leider nur 2xSATA - falls das wichtig ist Habe ich irgendetwas vergessen? Gibt es Praxiserfahrungen? Oder hat jemand eine komplett andere Idee? Tipps und Meinungen sind gerne willkommen. 100 % gibt es nicht. Festplattenausfall: 2 Platten langen als Raid1. Beim Ausfall einfach runterfahren und neue einbauen. Hochfahren, neue Platte neu konfigurieren und ins Raid einbinden. Aber Du solltest eine dritte Platte auf Vorrat haben damit sie die gleichen Sektorengröße haben. Ich mußte mal nach 6 Jahren eine SCSI-Platte austauchsen. Die neue war sehr teuer, aber hatte die gleichen Grenzen, so daß ich die Partionen gleich sind. Hardwares: Wenn wirklich so wichtig, dann solltest Du auch richtige Hardware nehmen. Zwei Netzteile und so Zeug. Und die USV nicht vergessen. Und natürlich ordenliches Backup. Wenn das Dir zu teuer ist, dann besorge Dir gleich zwei davon. Was machst Du, wenn Samstag abend um 21 Uhr der Rechner ausfällt. Bis Montag ist es lang. Und dann kannst Du einfach die Platten in den zweiten Rechner einbauen und weiter gehts. Aber es immer eine Frage, wie wichtig alles ist und wieviel Geld auf dem Server gespeichert ist und wieviel Geld eine stundenlanger Ausfall kostet. Unser Server hat mal 6000 DM gekostet (1999), mit SCSI. Und vor einem halben Jahr mußte die erste Platte ausgetauscht werden. Aber langsam wird es Zeit für was neues. I am able to open xterm with the following line in .bash_profile # run the following programs xterm my C++ application proj is in $HOME/path/to/proj in .bashrc path/to/proj which is read by xterm every time it is fired, it works but then when I open another xterm to do othere things, it fires my proj which is not what I want, I want only one instant of the proj running. Hallo Stephan! Habe unter Debian Sarge ein Softraid 5 mit drei Partitionen + Hotspare aufgesetzt, das im Betrieb auch ordentlich läuft. Das Problem ist, daß ich die Hotspare-Partition nach jedem Neustart von Hand einbinden muss. Die mdadm.conf sieht folgendermaßen aus: MAILADDR [EMAIL PROTECTED] DEVICE partitions ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid1 num-devices=3 spares=1 UUID=8e2ef7a8:d309a884:d929b7c1:508bcb55 devices=/dev/hda1,/dev/hdb1,/dev/hdd1,/dev/hdc1 ARRAY /dev/md1 level=raid5 num-devices=3 spares=1 UUID=20e4e408:0edcc421:13c682ed:e76c39df devices=/dev/hda2,/dev/hdb2,/dev/hdd2,/dev/hdc3 Die Hotspare-Partition von md0 wird bei einem Neustart ganz automatisch eingebunden, diejenige von md1 aber nicht. Was mache ich da falsch, hat jemand einen Tip? In den Logfiles steht nix. Habe das selbe Problem mit Raid1. Muß jedes Mal die /-Partition neu einbinden. Hallo Christoph! Ich muss aus bestimmten Gruenden meinen Server neu aufsetzen. ICh habe aber nur einen Server, deshalb die Frage ob man es nicht irgendwie parallel aufsetzen koennte und die Dienste nach und nach bei der alten Installation abschaltet und bei der neuen Aktiviert... (hd-maessig sollte das kein Problem sein, habe dafuer ne neue hd) Das, was Du machen willst, hört sich verdammt danach an, als das Du einfach die neue Festplatte in den Server hängen willst und diese installierten willst. Im Server. Welchen Sinn hat das? Dein Server ist bestimmt keiner, der immer laufen muß. Dann einfach neue Festplatte einbauen, auf der neuen installieren und dann die Daten, die Du brauchst, auf die neue kopieren. Mit etwas Glück ist das in zwei Stunden passiert. 5 min für Umbauen ½ h für für neu aufsetzen (mit DVD) mit Sicherheitsupdates. ½ h für Server einrichten 55 min für Daten kopieren CU Michael -- ,''`. Hallo Peter! Hast Du schon mal versucht einfach ein aktuelles 2.6-Kernel-Packet zu installieren und den Rechner zu starten. Hmm, nein habe ich noch nicht :-( Einen neuen Kernel zu installieren erschien mir zu riskant. Wie muss ich vorgehen, damit ich alternativ alten 2.4.27- und neu installiertem 2.6-Kernel booten kann? Bei mir (mit grub) geht das automatisch. Bei lilo ist das etwas heikler. Welche 2.6-Kernel-Pakete wären für die CPU AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+, 2GHz zu installlieren? linux-image-2.6-k7 Kann ich dann mittels vorhandenem Lilo zwischen beiden Kernels wählen? Hi Peter! V ich habe im Herbst 2004 von einer Fa. einen Debian-Server einrichten lassen. Im Laufe der Zeit wurden viele Pakete neu installiert bzw. auf den neuesten Stand gebracht (testing). Der Rechner lief bis vor wenigen Tagen ohne Probleme. Nun sind allerdings (mir ernsthaft erscheinende) Probleme aus der Ecke Plattenfehler aufgetreten. Istzustand: Motherboard: ASUSTEK A7N8X-X CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+, 2GHz RAM: 1GB NICs: 100MBit (2 mal) Steckkartenmodem (f. Da brauchst Du aber nur eine anstecken. Neuen Plattenverbund rein. Dort Debian installieren als RAID1 und dann die Daten rüberkopieren Ich würde die Festplatte aber ein wenig anderes partionieren. Und wahrscheinlich brauchst Du auch nur die Userdaten kopieren. Was Du auch machen kanst, ist eine Platte austauschen gegen neue und diese dann partionieren und mittels den raidtools alle Daten zurückschreiben. Wahrscheinlich hast Du dann am Ende eine Partion von 140 GB Platz, aber da könnte man ja auch noch nachträglich Daten auslagern. Und anschließend das ganze nochmal bei der zweiten Platte alternativ b) wie a) aber gleichzeitig auf Kernel 2.6 umstellen [1] Hast Du schon mal versucht einfach ein aktuelles 2.6-Kernel-Packet zu installieren und den Rechner zu starten. Ich habe mit einer Netinstall/Etch-CD vor wenigen Tagen problemlos einen uralten Pentium III Rechner wiederbelebt, habe also so ein klitzekleines Bißchen Erfahrung. So und nun frage ich mich und natürlich euch, wie geht man da am geschicktesten vor. Der Rechner kann locker einige Stunden vom Internet abgeklemmt sein. Ich möchte *nicht* selbst kompilieren müssen, sondern nur DEB-Pakete aus stable/testing einsetzen. Festplattenpartition nach Tausch aus Software-Raid.
Hallo Ihr! Bei unserem Server wurde vor kurzen eine Festplatte getauscht. Da ich damals gerade nicht verfügbar war, haben wir das machen lassen. Die neue Festplatte hat die doppelte Größe als die alte (ist halt auch schon etwas betagt, das System). Nun habe ich mir die Partionen angeschaut und habe festgestellt, das auf der einen Platte gar keine einzige Partion drauf ist. Hallo Thomas! Ich nutze schon länger ein gdesklet(weather-full), welches mir , wie der Name schon sagt, das aktuelle Wetter presentiert. Seit einer Weile nun, muß wohl der Server von dem sich das desklet die Daten holt, down sein.Weder dieses noch andere Wetterdesklets zeigen da was an. Nun habe ich entdeckt, das man bei den meisten wohl auch selber eine URL eintragen kann. Allerdings bin ich diesbezüglich absolut unerfahren. Hätte da mal jemand ein paar Tips für mich?? Hallo Heinz-Stefan! Da bisher eher Anhänger der befreundeten Fraktion bin ich neu hier ;-)) Ich beabsichtige aber, in der nächsten Zeit meine vier Rechner (SuSE 9.1+9.3 und Mandriva 2005+2006) umzustellen. Meine erste Frage hier wäre nun: Auf allen Rechner hat /home eine eigene Festplatte bzw. Partition. Und die habe ich nun schon seit SuSE 8.0 bzw. Mandrake 8.2 praktisch unverändert beibehalten - d.h. bei jedem Update oder Neuinstallation ohne Schwierigkeiten weiter benutzt. Ich schon seit SuSE 6.x und auch bei RedHat. In wie weit ist das bei einem Umstieg auf Debian noch sinnvoll? Finde ich schon. Und ich mache es auch bei jedem neuen Rechner so, daß ich mehrere Partionen habe. Was ist, wenn mal eine Partion voll läuft? Vor allen mit den SuSE-Rechnern stelle ich mir das sowieso in so fern problematisch vor, weil da ja die Verzeichnisstruktur (z.B. KDE unter /opt) eigenen Regeln folgt. Wieso. Du kannst doch die Platte neu partionieren und das /home-Verzeichnis in Ruhe lassen, also /opt und /usr zusammenlegen CU Michael -- ,''`. Hallo Hannes Ich habe das Paket libapache-mod-php4 installiert, und möchte nun aber parallel auch noch Apache 2 (libapache2-mod-php4) installieren. Nun meine Frage: Muss da bei der Installation mittels apt-get irgend etwas beosnders beachtet werden? Soweit ich weiß, wird ja apache automatisch konfiguriert, und dann kommt dieser automatischen Konfiguration wohl der Apache1.3.x auf Port 80 in die Quere. Dass ich danach den Apache auf ein anderes Port oder eine andere IP-Adresse binden muss, ist mir eh klar ;-) Du mußt einem Apache eine andere Port-Nummer geben. Das geht aber nicht mit apt-get. Hello Paras! I have a question regarding related packages upgrades. Four weeks back i upgraded my gnome 2.10 to gnome 2.14 using etch and command apt-get install gnome-core and upgradeed to gnome 2.14 successfully.. At that time the related packages were still moving to the etch repo. Now when i do again apt-get install gnome-core it said gnome-core is already the newest version, but i belive now there are many related packages to gnome-core in the etch repository. I wanted to know how to upgrade the related packages of gnome-core ( rather than using apt-get upgrade or dist-upgrade ) since i am unable to upgrade them using apt-get install gnome-core. Do you update your system during the time using apt-get. If yes i believe all packages are uptodate. If you want know whether all your packages is uptodate you can use synaptic and search whether all the depencies are uptodate. But in etch gnome-core has version 2.12.3. Hallo! ich habe hier einige Rechner für die ich immer extra Monitor und Tastatur zur Installation vom Schrank hole. Schöner wär es, wenn man z.B. eine Debian netinstall CD hätte, die nach dem booten sofort per ssh erreichbar wäre. Also, Rechner steht in der Ecke, CD rein, booten, und per ssh zugreifen und die Installation leiten. Gibt es so etwas? Ja. Und zwar den Debian Installer für NSLU2. Gibt es eine Möglichkeit wie ich mir so etwas erstellen kann? Da es dies ja gibt, wird es auch möglich sein. Aber bei NSLU2 muß erst der Install Kernel auf die Kiste geflasht werden. Hallo Evgeni nachdem mein Vaio schon etwas älter ist und ein paar Macken hat wollte ich mir zum Studium ein neues Laptop anschaffen. Es soll keine mobile Zockermaschine oder sowas werden. Eher zum Surfen, Programmieren und ein bissi Multimedia (Musik hören und DVDs gucken - keine Filme schneiden). Das ganze sollte aber möglichst lange per Akku laufen können. 2-3 Stunden als 'mobil' zu bezeichnen finde ich ein wenig lächerlich. Deswegen wollte ich mal hier in die Runde fragen, wer ein bestimmtes Modell empfehlen, oder von einem abraten kann. Dabei sollte der Preis bei unter 2000E bleiben. Hoffe ich zumindest. Jetzt noch grob die Hardware: Intel P4 (oder Core Duo?), 512 (oder mehr?) RAM, Grafikkarte sollte egal sein, DVD Brenner wär toll, genauso wie vernünftiges WLAN und ein möglichst großes Display (13 bei 1024x768 machen kein Spaß mehr). Bluetooth und Fingerprintscanner sind Spielereien, aber evtl mal nützlich. Thinkpad ist schon eine gute Wahl. Blos je mehr Leistung das Teil hat, desto kürzer ist die Batterielaufzeit. Du kannst auch die Batterie aufrüsten. Zum Surfen und DVD anschauen lang eine Celeron Kiste, wie es z.B. meine Freundin hatt. Diese Kiste hat auch eine lange Batterielaufzeit (DELL), aber für Programmieren ist es schon schwieriger. Welche Sprache willst Du verwenden und wie groß sind die Projekte. Naja, jetzt ist es meistens PHP und Java. Aber durch das Studium wird das sich sicherlich erweitern und ja, wie oben geschrieben, Kernel werden auch gebaut ;-) Darf man fragen, was das Ding in deiner Sig (T43) gekostet hat? Dann langt eigentlich kein Centrino I bzw II. DualCore ist ein schönes Spielzeug, aber ein wenig überdimensioniert für Programmierung. Außer Du willst in den SMP-Bereich. Es ist einer mit 14.1 Zoll-Display und 1400x1050 Auflösung mit 1.5GB RAM. ATI Graphikkarte und hat mehr als 2000 EUR mit Steuer gekostet. Aber schnucklig CU Michael -- ,''`. Hello Michael! Does anybody have a howto how i tell network-manager to support wpa encryption? No effort required. If the hardware driver support it, it just works. It is an ipw2200 card. And it dedect my router but don't asked about the password or something. When i try to create a new connection then there is no wpa encryption, only wep. Network runs with netenv and wpa_supplicant Your driver/hardware has to announce its WPA capabilities via the wext interface (the driver needs to support v18 or greater). The easiest way is to install kernel 2.16, the included ipw2200 should work out of the box. Hallo Stefan! ich bin gerade auf der Suche nach einem neuen PHP Editor. Bisher verwendete ich einfach Kate womit ich auch sehr zufrieden bin und was eigentlich auch ausreicht. Nun habe ich aber ein Projekt wo in einer Datei oft ewig viele Funktionen bin. Ich bräuchte daher einen PHP Editor der mir in einer Seitenleiste die Funktionen in der Datei auflisten kann. GPHPEdit macht das zB was ich gesehen habe. Er will aber bei mir nicht richtig funktionieren. Wenn ich auf eine Funktion in der Seitenleiste doppelklicke springt er nicht zur Funktion. Auch fehlt mir der Verzeichnisbaum in der Seitenleiste. Bei ewig vielen Dateien ist es hart jedesmal auf Datei öffnen zu klicken. Er kann den Verzeichnisbaum mit Doppelklick nicht öffnen, aber mittels :ls und :b oder :bs springt er in die Datei. Außerdem kann mittels Tastatur zur Funktionsdefinition springen. einem Shellskript mittels einer eigentlich einfach sein muessenden
if-Abfrage ueberpruefen, ob ein String den Inhalt a oder b hat.
Das mit dem oder bekomme ich aber nicht auf die Reihe, und passende
Suchbegriffe fuer Google scheinen sich mir heute auch zu entziehen.

Hallo Andreas! eine Frage an die C-Programmierer unter euch: Es geht um Funktionen, die durch Ihren Rückgabewert anzeigen, ob die Funktion erfolgreich abgearbeitet wurde oder ob ein Fehler aufgetreten ist. Gibt es hier einen Standard für den Rückgabewert? Ich habe schon folgende beiden Varianten gesehen: * 0 bei Erfolg und 1 bei Fehler * 1 bei Erfolg und 0 bei Fehler Die main-Funktion sollte zumindest unter Linux bei Erfolg 0 zurückgeben. Dazu eignen sich die Konstanten EXIT_FAILURE und EXIT_SUCCESS aus stdlib.h. Aber wie sieht es bei Funktionen innerhalb eines Programms aus? Hier sind diese Konstanten meines Wissens nicht angebracht. Gibt es dazu einen ANSI- oder POSIX-Standard? Keine Ahnung. Aber es kommt immer auf die Funktion drauf an. Wenn Du Zahlen zurückgibst, dann ist das sinnvollste (was ich auch immer mache), bei Erfolg 0 zurückzugeben und bei bei Fehler ungleich null, wobei Du Dir auch einen eigenen Fehlercode wie EXIT_FAILURE ausdenken kannst. Das ist gut bei großen Applikationen oder Bibliotheken. Anders ist es, wenn Du eine Zahl aus einer Funktion zurückgeben willst. Da kannst Du entweder einen weiteren Parameter mitgeben, in der der Fehlercode gespeichert wird oder eine Fehlercode zurückgeben oder 0 und dann die Variable als Pointer in den Funktionsaufruf mit rein tun. Natürlich können auch Pointer zurückgeben werden. Und da wird NULL zurückgeben bei Fehler. In Standardfunktionen wird 0 zurückgeben bei Erfolg und oft die Zahl errno gesetzt, wenn es Fehler gibt. Hallo Werner! Gibt es dazu einen ANSI- oder POSIX-Standard? Also ich halts immer so, wenn kein anderer Wert erwartet wird, einfach bool als Rückgabewert. True bei Erfolg und sonst False. Find ich intuitiver beim lesen. Bool gibt es standardmäßig nicht in C. Deswegen führen ja Toolkits wie GTK gboolean ein, die dann als TRUE oder FALSE gesetzt werden können. Hallo Matthias! Aus man id3v2: ... Der Auszug fehlt in der Version in Sarge. man id3v2 | grep frame Formatiere id3v2(1) neu, bitte warten... Display all possible frames for id3v2 und sonst nix ... Sarge fängt offenbar an schon wieder an muffig zu riechen. Als was würdest Du dann XP bezeichnen? Verwest? Ich finde Sarge gar nicht muffig. Ich würde auch kein anderes System auf meine Server lassen. Aber was macht man, wenn bei Windows die Software veraltet ist? Man installiert eine neuere Version. Und da hast es bei Debian doch am einfachsten unter allen Linux-Distributionen. So lieber Matthias, wer soll nun Dein Herzblatt sein. Kandidat Backport Kandidat Selbst kompilieren Kandidat Updaten auf testing oder Kandidat Packages aus Testing nachinstallieren (mit allen Abhängigkeiten) Jetzt mußt Du Dich entscheiden.
