Provide the default GNOME theme in gnome-core please

2010-09-28 Thread Tong Sun
Package: gnome-core
Version: 1:2.30+1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I'm quite satisfied with the Clearlooks to be the default GNOME theme,
and I don't want anything else.

Please provide the default GNOME theme (whatever it is) in gnome-core,
instead of putting it anywhere else. The current situation for me is,
I either don't have any GNOME theme, or am forced to drag in tons of
theme that I never need.

So once again, please provide the default GNOME theme in gnome-core.

Thanks.

Re: system load spike

2007-10-22 Thread Kent Tong

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. I've identified that it's pdflush that is causing
the problem.
I have 3 of them running in D state along with usb-storage. This is enough
to
cause a system load of 4. Adding gzip will make it 5. I've found some
references
stating the problems of having multiple pdflush:

system load spike

2007-10-21 Thread Kent Tong

Hi,

I am using a shell script to perform backup. Whenever it is launched, the
system load average
reaches 3-5 regularly. I am already launching it script using nice -n 19.
The script is using
find, cpio and gzip. They should automatically inherit the nice value of 19.
I am already using
gzip -1 so that it uses the least CPU. It is possible that the bottleneck
is I/O, not CPU.

Is there any way to reduce the system load?

Thanks!

Carl Fink-4 wrote:

 Why is a lower load important to you?

 Depending on the script you could introduce a sleep 1 between each
 compression step, which gives the system I/O a chance to catch up.
 Obviously you could also vary the 1 as needed.

Thanks for the reply. We have a performance monitoring system and that
high system load is triggering quite some alerts. The backup is basically
done in a single command pipeline:

find -L $SRCROOT -xdev -size -50G | \
cpio -o -H tar | \
gzip -c -1  $DSTPATH

Therefore it's difficult to insert sleep into there.

Making use of the default printer

2007-09-16 Thread - Tong -
Hi

What's the Default Printer actually means?

I've setup one of my printers to be Default Printer,
http://localhost:631/printers/

and I unset the LPDEST environment variable, in hoping the consequent
lpr will be using the Default Printer, but this is what I get:

 lpr: Error - LPDEST environment variable names non-existent destination !

So, how can I make use of the default printer without specifying any
environment variables?

thanks

Is it possible to temporarily disable a repository?
If so, how?

I think it is mplayer's packaging problem. To overcome it, what is
the name of OpenGL(?) package should I install?

[OT] low-budget camcorder and avi dvd player

2007-08-26 Thread - Tong -
Hi,

I know there are way too many camcorder types analog/digital, recording
media, etc, than I could possibly know. Is there any good site that you
recommend for the reading? (I've done googling, no thanks to any googling
suggestions)

I'm planning to buy a low-budget (digital) camcorder, as long as I can copy
the video to my PC, do some minimum transcoding if necessary but definitely
not full-fledged fancy transcoding that takes hours to finish, then put the
result avi file onto dvd disk, so as to play it on my avi-compatible dvd
player.

Is it ever possible? and for low-budget camcorder? I think I must be
dreaming to have a ~$100 camcorder + a ~$60 avi-compatible dvd player
that can fulfill above, is it?

Sorry for OT.
Thanks for any comments.

 prevent versioned dependencies from forcing an upgrade, unfortunately.

I was planning to file a support bug report to [EMAIL PROTECTED], now
I'm thinking, I should file a separate bug report on the package
dependencies, because all I've been using was tetex, and it is only
because some packages wrongly depends on texlive instead of tex-common
that drag me into this mess.

However, I think I'd better ask for advices before doing so.
Please comments.

 Personally, I would just bite the bullet and do the
 upgrade -- tetex is going away and you'll have to switch over eventually
 anyway.
  Is there a particular difficulty you're running into with the upgrade?

Yeah, I guess that is an easier solution now. Previously, as stated in OP,
I hoped that keeping tetex from upgrading to texlive will ease the Etch to
Lenny transition for the moment, because I've upgraded over 500 packages
already, and there are still over a thousand packages waiting to be
upgraded. Moreover, I've read that there are still several pending issues
with texlive. I just want to avoid troubles as much as possible.

 also to list in which file the string was found? Or any modification to
 the command given above?

 I wrote a perl script that does this (and other stuff)

I wrote such a perl script as well when in Window$. But now I stick to
plain *nix solution -- why bother a script if you can do it with pure
*nix command. Try this:

 grep -Hn 'a_certain_function' `find . -name '*.c'`

If the find command returns over hundreds of files, which might yield
command line too long error, try this:

 find . -name '*.c' | xargs grep -Hn 'a_certain_function'

You can also substitute grep with agrep for much more advanced searches:

 agrep text search tool with support for approximate patterns

See, the combination of pure *nix command can solve every possible
problems you may have, whereas in window$, you have to have thousands of
individual tools for thousands of different tasks, and even with the same
task, say rename files, you may have to choose from hundreds of tools to
pick the one that suits your needs. Yuck.

However, it also has it drawbacks. Check the details at

Its installation does not require human intervention. So whenever I

Command touch and irregular file names

2007-08-14 Thread - Tong -
Hi,

How to let command touch to work with irregular file names?

In my script I have

 touch -r $file1 $file2

the file1/2 can be anything file, ../path/file, /root/file, etc.

The problem is when file1/2 are irregular file names. E.g., -test.file1/2.

I.e., anyway to make the following touch command works?

 $ touch -r -test.file1 -test.file2
 touch: invalid date format `est.file2'

FYI, I tried this but didn't work:

 $ touch -r -- -test.file1 -test.file2
 touch: invalid date format `est.file1'

I think if the touch command uses the standard gnu getopt lib, then
the above code should work, shouldn't it?

Thanks

Booting CD with grub, no menu

However, if I specify (within the booted grub shell)

the menu loaded fine, and every entry boots fine as well.

So it seems to me that everything works fine, just grub itself can't

 Can't you just call less -X or set the environment variable LESS
 to contain -X?

Thanks for all replies. On reviewing them and the faq, I think my wish
still holds.

Just like John Hasler has pointed out, the -X disables termcap
initialization and deinitialization. The effect is that, when I
browse say a big file, paging up and down several times, and then
exit, my xterm will be left with all contents that I've browsed,
with  ...skipping...  in between them.

So having a keyboard command 'x' or something can allows me,

- have the freedom to decide whether I want to leave the content or not

- invoke less the same way, no matter whether I want to leave the
  content or not

- leave my xterm with the only pageful of info that I deliberately
  chosen, instead of cluttering it with all the contents that I've
  viewed.

I don't know if this is possible. But it's a nice feature. It comes
especially handy when you want to preserve your xterm scroll-back
history as much as possible, but still able to copy the content out
of the man page, which might be lengthy and might took a while for
your to locate where you want to copy from.

Thanks

RAD tool for debian?

I think the subject needs to be fixed, 'cause when talking about RAD tool,
you would definitely want that it is not limited within Debian.

Nahh, just kidding...

 i've got a friend who's trying to get a license-free solution that'll
 provide an html/web front-end to a database... similar to ms access,
 but we're seeking 1) no licensing fees 2) an html interface, not a
 proprietary interface. we're NOT looking for a cms like joomla, but
 rather an engine for presenting forms to interact with a back-end
 database.

IMHO, for such requirement, no tools fit better than symfony.
http://xpt.sourceforge.net/techdocs/language/php/symfony/sf01-SymfonyGeneral/ar01s02.html#_What_is_symfony_

Extract:

It is based on the following concepts:

* compatible with as many environments as possible
* easy to install and configure
* simple to learn
* enterprise ready
* convention rather than configuration, supporting fallback calls
* simple in most cases, but still flexible enough to adapt to complex cases
* most common web features included
* compliant with most of the web best practices and web design patterns
* very readable code with easy maintenance
* open source

FYI, Symfony uses some code fragments of other open source projects:

* Creole, for the database abstraction layer
* Propel, for the object-relational mapping layer
* Mojavi, for the Model-View-Controller model layer

On seeing that, I told myself, boy! That's it, That's what I want!
And it turned out that I made the right choice -- all you need to do
is to describe your database schema in .xml file, or better a more
human-readable, more easy .yml format. That's it!

Put it this way, you only need to focus on the logical of your database
design, ie, the schema, and describe it in a format much obvious and more
human-readable than .xml, then Symfony takes care of the rest!!!

for presenting forms to interact with a back-end database I bet I could
finish all your preliminary requirements and give you such presenting
forms within a day or even half a day!

And definitely, Symfony does not simply ends there. Need to build a blog?
Want AJAX support? How about drag and drop (shopping cart)? ... Your limit
is only your imagination. Check it out:

Use MS-DOS-file format, if you want to share text files between Linux and
Windoze.

As most have pointed out, most Linux text editors can recognize and use
the MS-DOS-file format files. I'll add emacs to the list.

 The remedy is to cut the text
 and paste it into an MS Word file, then cut it again and re-paste it into
 the
 text file, which is not so good because this way I need rebooting every time
 into the Windows partition.

That's too much troublesome. Use
unix2dos (/usr/bin/unix2dos) and dos2unix (/usr/local/bin/dos2unix)
to convert file formats between Unix Dos.

The unix2dos dos2unix is from the tofrodos package.

How do I make my DVD-ROM regionfree?
How do I make WinDVD,PowerDVD,Win2k... region free?
How do I make Hollywood Plus DVDStation region free?
How do I make my standalone DVD region free?

If you DO want another region, I don't understand why but, sure it is
possible under Linux. Here is something to get you started:

/* compile me:*/
/*   gcc -o region-zero region-zero.c */
/* set my perms:  */
/*   chmod 0755 region-zero   */
/* move me to someplace useful: */
/*   mv region-zero /usr/local/bin*/
/* run me in directory VIDEO_TS   */

#include stdio.h

main() {
  FILE * fd;
  fd = fopen(VIDEO_TS.IFO,r+);
  fseek(fd,0x23,SEEK_SET); /* hex offset 0x23 is the region code byte */
  putc(0x0,fd);/* zero all the region code bits */
}

You need to look up what code to put there in order to get your region.

BTW, the c file is from Transcode wiki.

Thanks everyone for the respond.

I tried Partimage before when it was v0.6.2. But by then it was not
totally a logical backup tool. E.g., it insisted that partition size has
to be exactly the same, during back/restore. This is insane. Hope this has
been fixed. Anybody has such positive experience with Partimage?

FYI, here is what I have noted when I tried it:

partition size has to be exactly the same

The partition is too small to be restored:
Original partition
size:2097414144 bytes
Destination partition
size:.1052803584 bytes

I only have 427M used on it, which should well fit into the 1G destination
drive. With this limitation, I think by now partimage is practically
useless.

  There are a lot of minimal linux distro, and many are debian based
  (DamnSmallLinux, Knoppix, for example).
  I think that for your aim you must use a live distro.

  It's quite easy to use a live distro in a usb device.
  You can :
  - format usb devices as fat:
  # mkfs.vfat -n volumename -F 16 usbdevice_partition (/dev/sda1, for
  example)

  - mount the live cd iso and usb device:
  # mount -o loop iso mount point
  # mount -t vfat usbdevice_partition usbdevice_partition_mountpoint

  - copy all content to usb device.
  # cp -a iso mount point/* usbdevice_partition_mountpoint

  -if it's a livecd, probably use syslinux/isolinux to boot, so find
  syslinux.bin and syslinux.cfg (in root directory) OR isolinux.bin and
  isolinux.cfg  (in /boot directory);
  if you find isolinux.* in /boot directory, copy those files in root
  directory, renaming those in syslinux.*:
  # cd usbdevice_partition_mountpoint
  # cp boot/isolinux.bin syslinux.bin
  # cp boot/isolinux.cfg syslinux.cfg

  (you can modifiy syslinux.cfg to change default boot delay, background,
  font or to add another distro)

  - umount usb device:
  # cd
  # umount usbdevice_partition

  - and make it bootable with syslinux:
  # syslinux usbdevice_partition, /dev/sda1 for example

  ...

 I may be wrong, but I remember there was a LiveCD that if you put .deb
 files in the /deb folder it would automatically install them at boot
 time (And there was a certain way to handle dependencies, too).

 Perhaps I'm thinking of DSL or Knoppix?

YES, all the steps you described are for DSL. and yes, DSL allows you to
automatically install .dsl (not .deb) files the way you described.

DSL has already come with X windows, email/browser/word processing/slide
presentations, etc. What's amazing is that it is ONLY 50M. Feel free to put
more packages onto CD/USB if you have space, and there is a huge list of
tools to choose from.

It's an amazing distro that saved my day...

By logical backup I meant, at least the backup tools don't do blind sector

I can use it to backup Windoze partitions under Linux, and restore to

but my disk fsck fine, mount fine, boot to grub fine,
just can't mount root. I want to know what other check
points I should do...

Here is my grub/menu.lst

title   GRML Live

Note, that although the USB disk is (hd0) during grub

Solved: X won't start having upgraded from xsever to xorg

2005-09-14 Thread Tong

I installed the xorg, try its hardware auto-detection,

still, the screen gets into graphic mode, with garbage
on it, and the whole system just freeze. I tried
Ctrl-Alt-\, Ctrl-Alt-F?, Ctrl-Alt-Del, nothing worked.

 Are you running Sarge (nope; no X.org yet), Testing, or Sid? (Uninstall
 all of X, change your /etc/apt/sources.list file to the older version,
 and then install X, would be one possible tactic.)

Thank you Aurélien Campéas! you message saved my day.

I choose to follow up on this thread because it is more complete --
reinstalling xserver-xfree86 wasn't enough, still freeze my Box.
As Kent and James have pointed out, it only worked when I un-installed
and re-installed all the xserver-xfree86, xserver-common and
X-window-system-core packages.

HTH for other people as well.

 Is the problem really with X, or with a certain
 einvironment/manager/client? (Have you tried other means of starting X,
 such as kdm, gdm, startx, with different window managers/environments?)

Pure X, i.e., xorg. I use startx to start my fluxbox, which was intact
during upgrading. Restoring xfree86 (from xorg) alone solved the problem
is the strongest proof.

Thanks God I have my X back. This is the worst time for me to mess up
with my working environment. I've been following Debian Testing for ages,
never had such bad experience before. I think I'd better stick with sarge
for a while, until the dusts settle down a bit.

Thanks everyone for sharing! I love you.

Ie, say I'm running Debian Testing, and notice that a bunch of packages

kernel version and gcc's

2005-09-14 Thread Tong
Hi,

Do I have to install the gcc that corresponding to what was using when my
kernel was compiled?

Googling on the web tells me that it might not be necessary. But I
get the following message when trying to compile modules for vmare:

Your kernel was built with gcc version 3.4.3, while you are trying to use
/usr/bin/gcc version 4.0.1. This configuration is not supported and VMware
Workstation cannot work in such configuration. Please either recompile your
kernel with /usr/bin/gcc version 4.0.1, or restart
/usr/bin/vmware-config.plwith CC environment variable pointing to the gcc
version 3.4.3.

I applied the latest any-to-any patch, but still the runme.pl stopped. Do
I have to install a 3.4 version of gcc before proceeding?

Thanks

Any general way to disable a service

Hi,

Is there any general way to disable a service along all updates?
I mean, I think I've stopped my rsync service, but noticed that it is now
starting again. I think having a new version of rsync installed will
default the rsync service being runned on startup. Is that so?

I know how to stop it, but I want to know if there is ways for me to do it

weird acl behavior

2005-09-05 Thread Kent Tong
Hi,

If I create a file in a directory, it should get a copy of the default
ACL of that directory, right? But somehow it is not inheriting the
execute (x) right. Here is a sample session:

cladms003:/var/Share/Packages/Qemu# getfacl -d .
# file: .
# owner: root
# group: root
user::rwx
group::r-x
group:staff:r-x
mask::r-x
other::---

cladms003:/var/Share/Packages/Qemu# echo hello  f1
cladms003:/var/Share/Packages/Qemu# getfacl f1
# file: f1
# owner: root
# group: root
user::rw-
group::r-x  #effective:r--
group:staff:r-x #effective:r--
mask::r--   #Problem: it should be r-x
other::---

As you can see, the mask is set to r--, while it should be r-x.

I'm using Debian sarge on sparc.

Re: upgrade from kernel 2.4 to 2.6

2005-08-26 Thread Tong
Thanks everyone for the reply. I installed kernel-image-2.6.11 in Debian
Testing.

 I want to upgrade my kernel from 2.4 to 2.6. Yeah, I know the simple
 answer is install the 2.6 kernel and boot into it.

It actually *IS*.

 For me particularly, I use SCSI emulation for my CDs in kernel 2.4...
 If I upgrade my kernel to 2.6, I think I have to tweak those CD modules
 manually -- to use the ATAPI interface only.

To my greatest surprise, they just work out of box

upgrade from kernel 2.4 to 2.6

2005-08-25 Thread Tong
Hi,

I want to upgrade my kernel from 2.4 to 2.6. Yeah, I know the simple
answer is install the 2.6 kernel and boot into it. But I'm thinking, it
might be more than that.

For me particularly, I use SCSI emulation for my CDs in kernel 2.4. (I
know I shouldn't but the ATAPI interface didn't work out of the box, and
I didn't know how to fix it, so I had to revert to SCSI emulation)

If I upgrade my kernel to 2.6, I think I have to tweak those CD modules
manually -- to use the ATAPI interface only. What is the right setting?
I've mess my module setting so much that I am afraid next change would be
the last hay to break my camel. Thanks for you help.

Another thing about kernel. Say I know a very cool kernel that has all
nice features built within, will just grab it and boot into it works in
Debian? I presume that lots of dependencies would be broken, wouldn't it?
What is the right way?

Thanks

tong

PS. The very cool kernel is precompiled Linux kernel 2.6.12.2 with
unionfs and squashfs modules included, and with alsa sound drivers and
madwifi drivers. http://www.linux-live.org/

Hi,

Several questions about chroot.

- I need to chroot into an alien system. I.e., I need to chroot into a 2.6

- I heard all the fuzz about un/mounting the /proc, but I can't find any
documents on that. Can somebody explains me why it is so critical, or give
me a link to refer to please?

- I need to apt-get from the chrooted system. but on my 1st attempt, I
was not able to connect to outside, even ping. But all the documents I
read (I'm remastering a live CD) didn't mention anything about the
connection problem. Have I neglect something, or there is something to do
before I can connect?

thanks a lot!

sftp sets acl mask to r--

2005-08-22 Thread Kent Tong
Hi,

If I use sftp to upload a file to a directory, for some reason
the acl mask of the file created is set to r-- instead of
inheriting the default acl from the directory. For example:

cladms003:/var/Share/Packages/Tapestry# getfacl -d .
# file: .
# owner: root
# group: root
user::rwx
group::r-x
group:staff:r-x
mask::r-x
other::---

If I update a file test.sh using sftp, then:

cladms003:/var/Share/Packages/Tapestry# getfacl test.sh
# file: test.sh
# owner: root
# group: root
user::rw-
group::r-x  #effective:r--
group:staff:r-x #effective:r--
mask::r--
other::---

As you can see, now the default group and staff group no
longer have execute right on the file.

Any solution?

Thanks!

nForce NIC), device mapper and some other patches.

Re: Manipulation debconf database and package unatteneded installation and configuration (locally)

2005-08-11 Thread Tong
On Thu, 11 Aug 2005 13:46:25 +0300, Anton Liaukevich wrote:

 clone my installation to many machines. But I want to backup the
 debconf database (configdb) in order to automatically preconfigure some
 (but not all) packages getting answers from my backuped db.

Exactly! I've been trying to find the very same solution for ages. Tried
and failed many times...

 Project for experiment on: slapd (from Sarge)
 File with database  backup: newbackup.dat (db name: newbackup;
 driver=File, obviously)

 To backup the debconf database (configdb) I simply run:
 debconf-copydb configdb newbackup --config=Name:newbackup
 --config=Driver:File --config=Filename:newbackup.dat
 It always runs successfully creating full backup of the configdb db
 (config+passwords).

Some extra input:

1. You may have known that there is another approach to save/restore the
debconf database -- debconf-get-selections/debconf-set-selections:

 SYNOPSIS

   debconf-get-selections [--installer]

 DESCRIPTION

Output the current debconf database in a format understandable by
debconf-set-selections.

To dump the debconf database of the debian-installer, from
var/log/debian-installer/cdebconf, use the --installer parameter.

debconf-set-selections - insert new default values into the debconf database

2. I don't like the debconf Dialog frontend, I always use the readline
interface.

3. I do have noticed some packages that will ask you the very same
question again and again, despite I've set the default values into
thedebconf database...

Just my 2c.
Really hope there is a good solution to this.

Good luck.

Those disabled goodies in mplayer

2005-08-05 Thread Tong
Hi,

I guess most of people is like me, seeing these messages over and over but
never pay attention:

MMX2 supported but disabled
SSE supported but disabled
SSE2 supported but disabled
3DNow supported but disabled
3DNowExt supported but disabled

This is what my mplayer outputs when it start decoding. I'm wondering how
to enable them so my decoding would be faster (I'm decoding from file to
file)

I searched the google, and seems no discussion on this either. Moreover,
they seems to be compile time options. I.e., they are disabled at compile
time, is that so?

Beside, which one (or ones) should I enable for my AMD Athlon, if I could?

Please comment. Thanks

Strange modules loading problem

2005-07-31 Thread Tong
Hi,

I have the following devices in my system:

hda: SONY CD-RW CRX195E1, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hdc: HL-DT-ST GCE-8526B, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hdd: Toshiba DVD-ROM DSM-1712, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive

I want my hda and hdc to be ide-scsi device, while hdd being ide-cd.

This is my /etc/modules

- - - - 8 - - - -
$ cat /etc/modules
# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file should contain the names of kernel modules that are
# to be loaded at boot time, one per line. Comments begin with
# a #, and everything on the line after them are ignored.

ide-cd ignore='hda hdc'
ide-detect
sd_mod
ide-scsi
- - - - 8 - - - -

Which I think should work. However, after reboot, the result is not what I
expected:

- - - - 8 - - - -
$ cdrdao scanbus
Cdrdao version 1.1.9 - (C) Andreas Mueller [EMAIL PROTECTED]
  SCSI interface library - (C) Joerg Schilling
  Paranoia DAE library - (C) Monty

ATAPI:0,1,0  Toshiba , DVD-ROM SD-M1712, 1808

I.e., my hdc is not ide-scsi but ide-cd.
However, if I load modules manually from command line, I get what I want:

- - - - 8 - - - -
% rmmod ide-cd ide-scsi; modprobe ide-cd ignore='hda hdc'; modprobe
ide-scsi

$ cdrdao scanbus

Is this tidy converting correct?

2005-06-22 Thread Tong
Hi,

I have this file:

$ cat test | od -t u1
000 181 220 210 221 149 132 163 168 183 189 193 166 201 234 163 169
^^^ ^^^

When using tidy, it gives wired result:

$ cat test | tidy -quiet -numeric
[...]
#181;#220;#210;#221;#8226;#8222;#163;#168;#183;#189;#193;#166;#201;#234;#163;#169;
^^
[...]

Notice the extreme big number pointed by ^^^?

Why can't tidy encode exactly as the od -t u1 output, i.e., #149;#132;
instead of #8226;...? It will give me trouble when the result is further
processed by other tools, e.g., Perl XML::XPath.

Moreover, after using the -bare option to strip out smart quotes and em
dashes, etc., the result is even more wired, even seems wrong to me:

$ cat test | tidy -quiet -numeric -bare
[...]
#181;#220;#210;#221;#8226;#163;#168;#183;#189;#193;#166;#201;#234;#163;#169;

[...]

Anybody has some comment on this?

Thanks

PS. to produce the test file:

echo '181 220 210 221 149 132 163 168 183 189 193 166 201 234 163 169' | perl

Hi,

There is an excellent tool -- xsel in Debain. I've been using it ever
since I used Debian. However, there is one anoying bug in it (I

See, the result is empty, But, using any other ways, I can see the
highlighted string,

1st my xselh sg is just a wrapper for the [selection get] command in
tk. and 2nd is the standard xfree command:

$ xselh sg
test string highlighted in emcas

$ xprop -root CUT_BUFFER0
CUT_BUFFER0(STRING) = test string highlighted in emcas

Any comment?

Thanks,

OT, simple bash alias expansion question

How can I use my aliases in my bash script?

This seems a very simple question but I just can't get it working. For
example, I have an alias

$ cat cmd.bash

alias

acpl apt-cache

Now, no matter how I invoke the script, I always get the error:
cmd.bash: line 4: acpl: command not found

Here is how I invoked:

bash -O expand_aliases cmd.bash

bash -i cmd.bash

bash -i -O expand_aliases cmd.bash
bash -O expand_aliases -i cmd.bash

Please help.

Thanks

PS, my environment:

$ uname -rm
