maybe change the grub line (press edit at boot up time on the grub
screen) delete out the quiet option and boot and see where it gets upto.
also maybe try single user mode. and lastly did you try the magic sysreq
keystroke to see if the kernel is listening to stuff.

I have a problem on my hp mini (just started recently), it gets stuck
when my wireless / bluetooth / 3g wan is enabled - I have a rfkill
switch on the box, seem like the kernel is having a hard time
initialising stuff. went it happens I disable the things via the kill
switch and it progress on and then once it started i turn them back on
with the kill switch - all is okay

If you (pch0317) need to build a custom kernel, you might want to look at one
of my web pages, http://www.wowway.com/~zlinuxman/Kernel.htm,
which gives a fairly detailed tutorial of the process. But that's a
rather drastic step. I've had to build a custom kernel before, but never
to create one which is not dependent on an initial RAM disk.

The first thing I'd try is to rebuild the initial RAM disk. Do that with,
for example,

   update-initramfs -u

By default, it will update the initial RAM filesystem for the running
kernel. Then shutdown and reboot.

The second thing I'd try is a different bootloader, such as lilo.
Grub version 2 is still beta code and there have been a lot of problems
with it. I remember the last time Grub version 2 was updated I had
to help someone through the process of replacing Grub with lilo because,
for his system, it just wouldn't boot.

Wow! That is bad. A couple of things I'd try is

(1) Rebuild the initial RAM filesystem
(2) Try another boot loader, such as lilo

WLAN and Bluetooth

2010-03-13 Thread pch0317

Hi
I have problem with my wireless embedded device.

I use Debian testing and Compaq 615 notebook with Broadcom 802.11 b/g.

Only if I enable in BIOS "embedded WLAN" and "embedded bluetooth" my
Debian can't boot up.
When this option are "disable" linux boot up, but I can't play with
wireless and bluetooth device.

I use linux 2.6.32-trunk-amd64.
What can I do?
