bo - hamm upgrade failure
Montreal Sat Jan 30 10:19:03 1999 Hey, anyone know what's going on here?: [asimov] [/cdrom/debian/main/upgrade-i386] sudo apt-get -f dist-upgrade Updating package status cache...done Checking system integrity...ok E: Internal error, ScoredFix generated breaks. Exit 100 I'm using 0.1.4.bo. Btw, I think it would be a good idea if apt-get supported the --version option. Please CC: me as I'm too lame to subscribe to YA extremely high volume mailing-list. bo-hamm upgrade
Hello everyone, I need an advice on how to do it. The situation is the following: I have bo system installed and I have changed ISP and can not seem to configure ppp to conect to it. I can do it from a different machine and transfer files using floppies (sorry no network...) Could someone tell me where I can find instructions on doing upgrade manually, not from CD. Which files to download and in which order. Or may be some one can tell me how to do it... Of course, one of the solutions it to make installation disks and do everything from the begining (without reformating hard drive). Any advice is appreciated. bo -- hamm upgrade..
I find a lot of small changes, logs moved from (non-existent) /var/adm, to /var/logs, pppd argument changes, ppp setup changes, etc.. It took a bit of fiddling to bet the system re-working. E.g. pppd now needs a noauth argument, files have moved, etc.. Is there a list of these changes, structural and functional? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact
Can't find bo-hamm upgrade instructions.
Hi, I am currently running a bo system, but want to upgrade to hamm. I think I have read that upgrading to hamm requires special care and involves taking special steps. I was under the impression that there existed documentation that would explain all this, however I have searched a debian mirror site and can't find anything. Could someone please tell me where this information is? Perhaps a link to this information could be included in a prominant place on the debian web site? (Of course it could be that it is staring me in the face and I am just blind :-) Thanks, Mark. __ _\/___\__/___Mark_Phillips___/ \__/_\__/--\__// \__/HE___\__/--APTAIN/ \__/_\__/--\__/__/ /__To be is to do.__I. wtmp, last wrecked (bo-hamm upgrade)
Hello, I'm about upgrading to hamm, probably in the middle of it. THe system works and no problems detected at all until I realised that my 'last' is broken. 'login', 'sysvinit' packages are the new ones, but 'last' writes complete garbage, and a slight view at wtmp shows something different than my old bo ones... Can be that logout / leaving an account wrecks it... hard to tell. What can be wrong? What programs can modify/handle/wreck wtmp or last? I'm using login ('course), mgetty (autoppp), several acct packages... but can't figure out what's the problem. ideas? bye, Peter -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to . The version of libc5 in hamm can handle the different utmp file (which keeps track of who is on NOW), but didn't have functions to deal with wtmp. Upgrading everything that is responsible for logins (ssh, xterm, login, etc) and zeroing out wtmp will clean up your problem. -- Scott K. Seems that wtmp really needs the reboot entry in the file. Without it there was still garbage -- since reboot it is allright.
