Minor correction -- you need to run it once so you can tell it the correct audio output driver to use. (hence my problems back when I tried to install it) After that you're golden. oops! i forgot - i installed alsa0.9rc1 and hadn't rebooted yet so the kernel modules were in a bit of a state - ... now its fine. Yeah, rp does that if it can't grab /dev/dsp (real robust code, is it not?).
