Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] Wondering about Declude 3.x

Since things have been quite for some time, I just wanted to check up on
what is happening with 3.x. The last that I heard, there were several
people having issues with multi-processor systems. The thread settings also
concern me in the way that they are being implemented. It appears from
reports that these can greatly affect the performance of a system (and
therefore it's stability/ability), and knowing how variable E-mail can be,
I'm not sure that this is something that I would want to have hard coded on
my system. I would hope that there would be another way to go about this.

Right now I'm on 2.0.6.16 and have been for some time, but as bugs arise,
and bug fixes are released, I would like to have the peace of mind to
upgrade to the latest code, but I'm not sure that I have that yet.

I know that the folks at Declude have been working long and hard at this for
sometime now, and I don't want to disrespect that hard work, but I would
appreciate an update on where things are, and where they are going as far as
the service issues go.

Thanks,

Matt

2005-10-19 Thread Richard Lanard

We are using smartermail 2.6 with Declude 3.0.5.5 and have no problems.

We are a low volume, 6,000 a day with 1200 being legit, on dual
processor 533 with 2 gigs ram.
We run the following AV products, F-prot, AVG, and ClamAV (persistent)
on inbound and outbound. For spam we have Sniffer (persistent), INVuribl
2.7, and the usual spam tests running.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Wondering about Declude 3.x

2005-10-19 Thread Richard Lanard
Not at all, but my judgement is based upon user submitted emails to our
spam account for review and personal emails that I receive.

My guess is that those two problems would only occur under high loads.
When we send out broadcasts, ~ 10,000 emails, delivery times for
incoming messages to local users does go up, but I have not seen Declude
flat out miss any messages.

Local users are whitelisted and bypass spam check, but not virus checking.
System not under heavy load at time of issue.

End user reports slow mail delivery. She was sending a single Word doc file
(44kb) to other internal users and it was taking a long time. Got her to
send me the file and it about 11 minutes. What are some of the issues that
could cause this. Looks like it took nearly the whole 11 minutes for
Declude to start processing the message.

I am and the only problem that I am seeing so far is that the autowhitelist

Otherwise, it has been a flawless transition from IMail to SmarterMail.

[Declude.JunkMail] Kill List Generator NOT WORKING

2005-10-19 Thread William Baumbach
This is for those of you like me that are using Kill List Generator Found at

http://www.declude.com/Articles.asp?ID=100

It seems that some time in the recent past Kill List Generator stopped
working and is causing false positives

Off line, not working

http://www.imagefxonline.net/apps/delog/fromfile.txt

' Configuration file for Kill List Generator - [EMAIL PROTECTED]

' URLs to retrieve lists of current spam addresses/domains

ListURL=http://www.imagefxonline.net/apps/delog/fromfile.txt

KillListGen.exe is not fail safe, emails get deleted because this line

(requested URL /apps/delog/fromfile.txt was not found on this server.P).

gets inserted in the destination file that IMail reads which will be
combined Source file and retrieved list, causing a lot of emails to fail the
test.

Planning to post 3.0.5.9 tomorrow.

Fixes include COUNTRY and MAILFROM, improved installer, autoreview directory
option, error directory for files not able to be moved, smartermail forward
issue resolved etc.

In general we have been pleased with the results - of the outstanding issues
these seem to be isolated to a specific customer environments, and we are
currently working to try replicate these.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Slow internal mail delivery

I would say not. I watched it for a few minutes and it bounced from around
30 msgs (60 files) down to about 11 msgs (22 files) - none time stamped more
than 2 minutes old. Work folder moves well -- never more than a handful
there and they process on out.

More often than not, looking into \proc\ shows very few files.

Although something clearly happened, I'm starting to wonder if it wasn't a
temporary aberration.

John,

It sure sounds like that it was temporary. For situations like this you
might want to look at using a product like QueueMon which is a windows based
service that monitors the imail spool and declude proc directories and will
notify you when they exceed thresholds you set. In addition, it can also
run external scripts to correct issues. It has save my butt and alerted me
to many issues prior to my users alerting me.. Nothing is worse than having
a user tell you that there is a problem with your mail server.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Slow internal mail delivery

2005-10-19 Thread Matt

John,

Files being 2 minutes old in your proc directory would seem to indicate
an issue. I would think that they shouldn't be any older than 10
seconds under normal conditions (or maybe a little over 1 minute during
DNS timeouts).

Matt

[Declude.JunkMail] Free IMail Admin Utility - Password Decryption Reporting

2005-10-19 Thread Evans Martin

Hello
everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know that MartekWare.Com has decided
to release a free version of our popular IPlus Info Browser utility for IMail.
It is completely unlimited for up to one domain and will decrypt passwords for
all domains via the user interface (but not on reports). Sign into our website
(http://www.martekware.com) and you
can download it for free. Thanks for letting us give back to the IMail user
community in some small way. I hope you enjoy!

If
you need to run reports on multiple domains, there is a single server license
available and a site license also.

Heres
a little blurb for those who are not familiar with IPB.

Could you use a utility that allows you to
quickly do the following tasks:

 1.)
Quickly lookup forgotten passwords for your IMail users.
-
NEW faster, more accurate password decryption routines

 2.) Produce
reports for all of your IMail domains
-
List of domains with # of users per domain
-
