RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Declude 3.0 / 4.0

2006-02-13 Thread Chris Anton
Now that I know more about the switch, I am more comfortable with the changes.
I think that we collectively jumped to some conclusions. I am interested to see
how the whole thing plays out.

[Declude.JunkMail] MY understanding of difference in version 4

2006-02-13 Thread John T \(Lists\)
Previously, under versions 1-3, you purchased each item and version of item
you wanted.

If you purchased EV Pro, JM Pro and Hijack with a 1 year SA, cost would be
as such:

JunkMail Pro - $895.00
EVA Pro - $1,295.00
HiJack - $295.00

That is a total of $2485

A SA for all three is thereafter $309 per year.

What Version 4 is offering for new purchases is a combined product of all 3
of the above for one single subscription price of $1450 per year. This is
instead of an outright purchase and then yearly SA.

Now, some my want to argue (oops meant discuss) the ups and downs of a
subscription service rather than a perpetual license compared to a purchase
and then yearly SA if desired, but that is not want I am going into here.

For exisiting clients as of 02/08/06, we already own the software and as
such we are not subject to the subscription. Instead, we are being offered
to upgrade at a special price to EV Pro, JM Pro and Hijack if not already
there, and there after we will continue to pay a yearly SA of (current
price) $309.

Hope this helps.

[Declude.JunkMail] V4 and Console

2006-02-13 Thread george kulman

I noticed a console.txt file after upgrading
to v4. This appears to have the summary line information from the V1
Console (deccon.exe).

Is this a step towards the Console functionality being added
back (I hope)?

V4 seems to be OK so far.

Thanks,

George

That file came back in a 3.x version, I do
not remember which one.

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Declude 3.0 / 4.0

2006-02-13 Thread John Shacklett
I'm in a fairly unique position in that I actually have a brand new system
sitting on the bench as part of our LONG delayed migration away from
NT4/Imail6 and into the new millennium. So timing is everything, and a
Version 3/Version 4 decision had to be made in fairly short order to be
considered at all. At least as part of the initial build.

I received a call from Barry today in response to a routine support@ email
request for information about the upgrade pricing [I have EVAPro and JMPro
already, so I also only needed Hijack to round out the set].

Except for the actual pain of doing the upcoming migration itself,
everything declude-related worked out to my satisfaction [and even exceeded
my expectations]. I think there's a fair case of Ipswitch Fever going
around, seemingly as bad as Bird Flu, but I think the treatment in this case
is much more tolerable than the IMail situation was.

Now, Barry, having giving credit where credit it due, let me reiterate the
statement that has been given a couple of times on the list previously: we
need a recognized-as-stable version out, and we [as the users] need to feel
that development efforts match somewhat with identified needs and feature
requests. The fact that long-time users feel the need to stay back as far as
Version 1.8x in order to run stable installations has been a serious
breakdown of the expectations of the group. It's a genuine opportunity for
the company, not a threat.
