[Declude.JunkMail] is it ready?
So now I guess the big question is if Declude 3.0.5.20 is compatible with and ready for Imail 2006. Is there any official word on support? Re: [Declude.JunkMail] is it ready?
Regardless of any word, anyone that jumps on board a totally new release right after it is made available is asking for trouble. I have seen several instances over the years where Declude had issues with minor changes made in IMail. Some of these things didn't rear their heads until weeks or even months after the release as not everyone pays sufficient enough attention to catch some of the issues that occurred. It is always best to wait. Another note on IMail 2006. While they are making huge strides with the new Web mail client, they reportedly currently lack sufficient support for almost all Mac Web clients and therefore anyone with Mac users will probably want to wait until patches are made before even attempting the upgrade. While many of us already realize this will be the case, I can almost certainly assure you that there will be an outcry on the IMail list after some time passes where admins are complaining about the lack of full Mac support. IMail knows about the deficiency, but it appears that their plans are to release with it being Mac deficient and then subsequently go back and fix the incompatibilities. Maybe they have changed their minds? I still wouldn't touch it for at least a month. Darin, are you sure? In their documentation they explicitly state Windows only. Well on the same overview, We are still running 2.0.6 due to the fact that declude confirm has not been integrated into the new release. An other show stopper for us is the fact that the new web interface support only english at the moment. Since many of our customers are French talking, it's kind of odd to remove a feature we got for years... Re: [Declude.JunkMail] is it ready?
Robert, I suppose that hearing from them that everything is AOK would be consoling to some extent, but that shouldn't change the fact that you should wait. I don't expect that Declude will find but a small percentage of the bugs on their own, and it will take users like us to test and then help find any existing issues. Regardless of my own advice, many around here will rush to upgrade and they will subsequently start to report any issues that they find, and after it gets quiet for a period of time, I will then consider upgrading. FYI, 2.0.6.16 has been rock solid for me with IMail 8.15 HF2. I am pretty close to jumping on 3.x but there isn't a lot of stuff in it that I need at this point, so I am just holding out for a while longer. I'm pretty sure that it would work fine, and that the bugs that are present are probably no worse than the bugs that were fixed since 2.0.6.16. Matt Robert Shubert wrote: All true. [Declude.JunkMail] v1.32 (beta) ready
We now have Declude JunkMail v1.32 available online. It takes care of a couple of minor issues, and also changes the way that it starts external programs (smtp32.exe, scanners, etc.) which should help to eliminate the 0xC142 DLL initialization problem ( http://www.declude.com/dq.htm ). -Scott --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list.
