[Design-team] Re: Introduction for Thorsten Panknin (thopan)

2023-01-20 Thread Marie Nordin
Hi and welcome, Thorsten! Thank you for the introduction :)

I see you are in the Fedora Design chat which is a great start. I am most
involved in badges design(more towards the cutesy page about cats end of
things ;) )- but I would point you to https://gitlab.com/fedora/design as a
starting place to check out what the Design Team is working on lately. I
think Máirín will be best suited to help you find you an issue to work on.

I would suggest joining into the weekly Fedora Design Team Live session if
you're able, here's the next one:
https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/design/2023/1/23/#m10057
A video call link will be posted in the Design Team channel right before
the meeting starts.

Cheers!

Hope your exams went well (online I guess?).

You're not late. I'm sure there's plenty Fedora stuff you can do.

Mirëseardhje Kristina! Nice to see you here. :)

I think the best places to start looking for where to begin is on issues
tagged outreachy-2020 on the design and fedora-badges repos hosted on
Pagure, Fedora's git forge:

https://pagure.io/design/issues?tags=outreachy-2020=Open

https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issues?tags=outreachy-2020=Open

Marie or Máirín are better able to provide more details about specific
tickets or other questions about contributing.

See you around!

Some specifics:

Design Requests + Discussions: https://pagure.io/design/issues
Hackergotchi Requests:

I'd say the first two links are where the most action is, I believe Máirín

Given your background in python and html you could also help with web based
projects as well if that is your fancy!

[Design-team] Re-Introduction

2020-03-02 Thread Zachary Snyder
Hi all,

Just wanted to reintroduce myself as I've been dormant/away for a while. My
name is Zachary Snyder, you can just call me Zach. Ive been using fedora
since about F16. I started making small contributions within the Design
team like release banners, wallpapers etc. Last big thing i've participated
in was the Fedara Design FAD at the Redhat Westford location in 2015 so its
been a while! Currently im a PLSQL Developer working for PJM
Interconnection, a power grid oversight company for the north eastern
united states but I dont get my open source fill here. :) I'm recently
returning to contributing time to Fedora and the Design Team starting with
working on the supplemental wallpaper process for the upcoming release.

I look forward to reconnecting with the people I've met previously within
this community as well as get to know the new people that have hopped on
board while I've been away!
you can find me on IRC as sadin

Cheers,

up files for printing (color matching, resolution, edge bleed
requirements) and let me tell you, some of them did NOT come out good
(cmyk vs rgb – it’s part of the learning curve)

Otherwise, I’m always ready to lend a hand and brainstorm with
people, patient with criticism and open-minded to suggestions.

I’m interested in helping out with whatever I can.   I’m looking

I actually came by here after Benson Muite suggested from the
marketing list.  Thanks Benson!

Hi Grace,

welcome! That's an impressive list of skills!

One of the things you can help out with is Fedora Badges
. You can download the resources you will
need here

and follow this tutorial

step by step. The tickets that are great to start with are labeled
artwork-easy
. We
are always happy to have new design contributions and there are many issues
that need help.

If you have any questions, log on to #fedora-design on freenode and ask
around :) You are also welcome to attend the bi-weekly Fedora Badges
Meeting and ask for help with any badge related question there from 7 to 8
a.m. US/Eastern at #fedora-meeting-1 on irc.freenode.net.

We look forward to working with you!

Fedora Badges Team (riecatnor & mleonova)
I'm sure there are also a lot of other design issues you could help out
with, as well as web design. You can see some of the open issues here
. Fedora design meeting is held every
other Tuesday from 13:00:00 to 14:00:00 US/Eastern at
fedora-des...@chat.freenode.net.
You are welcome to stop by and participate :)

Greetings, Varun, and welcome to the Design Team mailing list! Happy
to have you here with us. :) Sounds like you have a broad range of
experience working with Linux.

I just sent some of this info a day or two ago on the mailing list,
so I'm going to repeat it for your benefit as well to help you find
ways to get started with Fedora Design!

The way I would recommend getting started and becoming familiar with
contributing to the Design Team is to check out Fedora Badges.
Badges are a unique thing in Fedora that allows contributors to earn
virtual badges for doing things in the community. You can learn a
little more about them at this page:

https://badges.fedoraproject.org/about

It gives you a chance to mess around with Inkscape and actually get
to see some of your art become Fedora official. There's some starter
resources and style guides I would recommend downloading / reviewing
before you pick a badge. All of Fedora's badges follow design
guidelines so they all fit in with each other and follow a common
theme. Check these out:

https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/attachment/wiki/DesignResources/FedoraBadgesResources.zip

https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/attachment/wiki/DesignResources/styleguide_full.pdf

Once you have a chance to dig through some of these, you can start
hunting out a badge to find and try working on. The easiest way to look
for badges pending artwork is by going here:

https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/report

{8} and {9} may have a few to pick out, but {26} may have a few buried
in there too. Don't be afraid to pick up a ticket if there hasn't been
any activity on it for a while either.

This is probably a lot to throw at you all at once, but hopefully it
helps. If you have any questions, please ask them!! We're happy to
help in any way we can. Thanks for sending your introduction here on
the list! Again, welcome to the Design Team.

2016-12-12 Thread Chhavi Shrivastava
Hello Justin :)

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, been checking my mail every hour
for one of these.

I made an account on FAS and joined the mailing lists, and with the help of
an alumni who is a fedora contributor, worked my way around fedora batches.
Also, tickets now make sense. The resources you sent for creating badges
seem like DIY kit, makes me happy to build with, thanks for that :) Though
I am hoping to find some work related to UX.

Looking forward to start contributing,

Chhavi :)
