[Bug 87502] [feisty] inconsistent keyboard icons
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu Feisty Herd 4 (i didn't try previous herd versions) the two keyboard icons in the new control center are different. The one in category Personal under Keyboard accessibility looks old and ugly. Then in category Hardware under Keyboard there is a cool looking icon (from tangerine icon set I guess). I had a similar problem using the new jamendo plugin. I am using rhythmbox compiled from source (9.8) on a ubuntu edgy system. Maybe that was also caused by the size of the jamendo archive. [Bug 85766] mouse doesn't work in War§ow any more
Public bug reported: Problem: After an upgrade of Ubuntu from Edgy Eft to Feisty Fawn, mouse doesn't work in War§ow any more. Steps to reproduce: 1. Upgrade to Ubuntu Feisty Fawn. 2. cd /tmp/ ; wget http://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/games/nofrag/warsow/warsow_0.21_linux.tar.gz ; tar xfz warsow_0.21_linux.tar.gz ; cd warsow ; ./warsow 3. See that you cannot move the mouse at all. However, mouse-wheel and -buttons may work. Notes: - My mouse does work in a downloaded version of OpenArena. Despite that, I guess it has to do with Ubuntu, because downloading the latest development source of War§ow and compiling it doesn't help at all. - in_dgamouse 0/1 does not change anything. - I successfully built a debian package of War§ow 0.21 with the sources from svn.debian.org and installed the packages, but that didn't help either. uname -a: Linux sodium 2.6.20-8-generic #2 SMP Tue Feb 13 01:14:41 UTC 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu GNOME Status: Unconfirmed -- mouse doesn't work in War§ow any more https://launchpad.net/bugs/85766 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Hello Sebastien, Firstly, I'd like to say sorry for re-assigning the bug all the time, it was just what I thought might be the best candidate to fix it. After starting gnome-settings-daemon, I could play for about 30 seconds (like described above) and then the mouse stopped moving. (Mousewheel still works.) Please also note that my above post (providing the backtrace and strace) was a little overzealous -- in my effort to get a useful backtrace (with the built debug-packages) I have been unable to preproduce the described situation since the bugreport, but when I noticed the mentioned 100% CPU activity today I thought that the bug went back -- checked via ps to see if the duplicate gconfd-2 is running and then followed the steps from the wiki to obtain a backtrace of gconfd2. Hello Sebastien, This is how I do it: my_script.sh: sudo cp local /var/lib/locales/supported.d/local sudo cp environment /etc/environment sudo dpkg-reconfigure --force locales local: sv_SE.ISO-8859-15 ISO-8859-15 sv_SE.UTF-8 UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 environment: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games LANG=sv_SE.ISO-8859-15 It would be really nice if there was an new option in the control-panel to do this kind of adjustments. And another thing ... I am migrating from an old red Hat installation but wan't to take with me my userid of 500 and group-id of 500 which is standard in Red Hat. However when I add user-id 500 i the control-panel I can add the user but I can't modify it later since the useradministration menu don't show lower values than 500. This goes for Ubuntu 6.10 also. [Bug 87584] Gnome-panel launchers cause shared pgid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity All applications launched from gnome-panel launchers, menu, or alt-f2 share the same pgid. Gnome developers claim this is not typical behavior for the panel, so may be a result of an Ubuntu customization. The same applications launched from the terminal do NOT share PGID. This is a problem for several reasons (some highlighted in this forum thread: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=347023): 1. Pressing Ctrl+C in Matlab with shared PGID closes gnome-panel. 2. fbpanel cannot raise applications via the taskbar with the shared PGID (it can raise applications fine if they don't share PGID). The applications receive focus, but do not raise. This may also tie into metacity, as it may not be a problem with other window managers, but again I think it is Ubuntu-specific. Note that the windows properly receive focus, they just don't raise. 3. Python's IDLE environment fails to raise the shell window when that window receives focus (e.g., by pressing F5) after the initial opening. This is only true if running metacity, e.g., xfwm4 properly raises that window each time it receives focus. I submit this as a single bug report, because it appears to be an issue in how the customized gnome build Ubuntu provides handles raising windows and sending focus when applications share a pgid (which is really a metacity problem, but it is compounded by the odd gnome-panel behavior). This is true at least in release 6.10. ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Gnome-panel launchers cause shared pgid https://launchpad.net/bugs/87584 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 87589] [feisty] No theme active
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver I just reinstalled feisty from daily-live (g-s 2.17.7-0ubuntu4) and - like with the last herd-4 install - there was no screensaver theme set. Earlier, the default was random, but now there is none at all. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- [feisty] No theme active https://launchpad.net/bugs/87589 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 87591] Rhythmbox launches gnome-screensaver
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Launching Rhythmbox in a non GNOME environment results in a bunch of GNOME apps being called, including gnome-settings-daemon and gnome- screensaver. This results in a conflict with xscreensaver which I use by preference. I will attach a ps output from before and after. ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Rhythmbox launches gnome-screensaver https://launchpad.net/bugs/87591 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 68300] Re: adding songs to ipod shuffle doesn't update iTunesDB properly
I added a ton of information about this problem directly on the gnome bug report. Thought it would copy here, no such luck. Anyway if you look there you can find dumps of the shuffle data structure. This should allow fixing of the problem even for those without shuffles. From looking at it myself, I am pretty sure that the problem is that rb does not write the iTunesSD file. This is a file that is on every ipod but only used on the shuffle, so other devs have not bothered with it. So when you open gtkpod it senses that iTunesSD is not written to and constructs the iTunesSD file from the info in the iTunesDB file. This would make it shuffle specific. I hope apple in a firmware upgrade makes the other ipods use this file. It would make all of the ipods easier to support and force the devs to do it right. For the record, banshee does write it perfectly, but it does not have transcoding and is missing the browse feature of rhythmbox and itunes. -- adding songs to ipod shuffle doesn't update iTunesDB properly https://launchpad.net/bugs/68300 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
