[Bug 87502] [feisty] inconsistent keyboard icons

2007-02-24 Thread lenooh
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu Feisty Herd 4 (i didn't try previous herd versions) the two
keyboard icons in the new control center are different.

The one in category Personal under Keyboard accessibility looks old and
ugly.
Then in category Hardware under Keyboard there is a cool looking icon (from
tangerine icon set I guess).

I think it makes no sense using different icons for the same thing,
especially when one is from an older icon theme (and very ugly).

[Bug 85051] Re: Rhythmbox hangs when it can't connect

2007-02-24 Thread Max
I had a similar problem using the new jamendo plugin.
I am using rhythmbox compiled from source (9.8) on a ubuntu edgy system.
Maybe that was also caused by the size of the jamendo archive. I do have a 50
MB crash file here. don't know if uploading that would help.

[Bug 85766] mouse doesn't work in War§ow any more

2007-02-24 Thread hangy
Public bug reported:

Problem:
After an upgrade of Ubuntu from Edgy Eft to Feisty Fawn, mouse doesn't work in
War§ow any more.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Upgrade to Ubuntu Feisty Fawn.
2. cd /tmp/ ; wget
http://ftp.club-internet.fr/pub/games/nofrag/warsow/warsow_0.21_linux.tar.gz ;
tar xfz warsow_0.21_linux.tar.gz ; cd warsow ; ./warsow
3. See that you cannot move the mouse at all. However, mouse-wheel and -buttons
may work.

Notes:
- My mouse does work in a downloaded version of OpenArena. Despite that, I
guess it has to do with Ubuntu, because downloading the latest development
source of War§ow and compiling it doesn't help at all.
- in_dgamouse 0/1 does not change anything.
- I successfully built a debian package of War§ow 0.21 with the sources from
svn.debian.org and installed the packages, but that didn't help either.

[Bug 85766] Re: mouse doesn't work in War§o w any more

2007-02-24 Thread hangy
I can confirm detto's statement that this problem is related to gnome in some
way.
Simply using xfce4 instead of gnome makes my mouse work in War§ow.

Because of that, I'm re-assigning this to the ubuntu-gnome team.

[Bug 87553] Listview Column Header Volume Icon Does Nothing

2007-02-24 Thread kvieto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

In Rhythmbox version 0.9.6 on Ubuntu Edgy, currently the volume icon in
the header of the list view does nothing. It is located in the same
area as headers that do have an action associated with them (sorting

pressing Ctrl + J.

[Bug 87566] Nautilus should show CD label for mounted iso image

2007-02-24 Thread Onkar Shinde
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Ubuntu 7.04.

I have downloaded feisty alternate CD and I keep the ISO image mounted at
/media/feisty and use it as file repository.
I will be nice if nautilus could show CD label for this (or any other) ISO
instead of directory name.

Currently we see drive labels for hard disks and usb disks. So I believe
this shouldn't be too hard for ISO images.

Please consider this a wishlist if not a bug.

[Bug 87567] Rhythmbox still uses old translation from Breezy in Feisty

2007-02-24 Thread Tomasz Dominikowski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The problem lies somewhere in the translation infrastructure. I've
updated the translation of Rhythmbox and it's fully translated for
0.9.8. It's in SVN since 0.9.70 version. However the 0.9.8 version still
uses the translation found in the edgy package. Since edgy there weren't
any translation templates of rhythmbox in launchpad:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/feisty/+source/rhythmbox/+translations

Now the old translation is used:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/edgy/+source/rhythmbox/+translations

disregarding an updated upstream translation. This needs to be fixed.

  Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The problem lies somewhere in the translation infrastructure. I've
updated the translation of Rhythmbox and it's fully translated for
0.9.8. It's in SVN since 0.9.70 version. However the 0.9.8 version still
- uses the translation found in the breezy package. Since breezy there
- weren't any translation templates of rhythmbox in launchpad:
+ uses the translation found in the edgy package. Since edgy there weren't
+ any translation templates of rhythmbox in launchpad:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/feisty/+source/rhythmbox/+translations

Now the old translation is used:

-
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/breezy/+source/rhythmbox/+translations
+ https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/edgy/+source/rhythmbox/+translations

disregarding an updated upstream translation. This needs to be fixed.

[Bug 87564] Re: Can't switch between keyboard layouts in Feisty

2007-02-24 Thread Alberto Milone
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 86013 ***

I have just found out that it might depend on 2 problems:
1) a well know bug according to which the keyboard layout is not displayed in
the applet.

2) the fact that nvidia-xconfig (the one packaged with driver 9631 in Ubuntu)
removes the following lines from the Section Input Device of xorg.conf (which
was not a problem in Ubuntu Edgy):
Option XkbRules xorg
Option XkbModel pc105
Option XkbLayout it
Option XkbOptions lv3:ralt_switch

Anyway I'll set my report as a duplicate of that well known bug

[Bug 85766] Re: mouse doesn't work in War§o w any more

2007-02-24 Thread hangy
Hello Sebastien,

Firstly, I'd like to say sorry for re-assigning the bug all the time, it
was just what I thought might be the best candidate to fix it.

As the GNOME failsafe session starts gnome-session-deamon, I started a Xterm
failsafe session. Then, playing War§ow for a minute or so, no problem with the
mouse occured. After starting gnome-settings-daemon, I could play for about 30
seconds (like described above) and then the mouse stopped moving. (Mousewheel
still works.)
Looks like you know the problem/found the right candidate.

Best regards,
-hangy

[Bug 85521] Re: gconfd-2 doesn't stop for previous user logged into GNOME

2007-02-24 Thread Ivailo Stoyanov
Please also note that my above post (providing the backtrace and strace)
was a little overzealous -- in my effort to get a useful backtrace (with
the built debug-packages) I have been unable to preproduce the described
situation since the bugreport, but when I noticed the mentioned 100% CPU
activity today I thought that the bug went back -- checked via ps to see
if the duplicate gconfd-2 is running and then followed the steps from
the wiki to obtain a backtrace of gconfd2. But when I just checked which
process has 100% CPU usage it turned out to be... ekiga, NOT gconfd2!
But I hope the info was useful after all.

[Bug 87570] Switching keyboard layout does not work properly

2007-02-24 Thread EspenG
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

I got a laptop that i got in America, but i am a Norweigan so I use the
Tastaturutforming (keyboard layout?) applet to change between
Norwegian and American keyboad layout. In Edgy Eft this worked just
fine, but when i upgraded to Feisty Fawn nothing happens when i click
the applet.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Add a Tastaturutforming (keyboard layout?) applet on one of your menu
panels.
2. Add one more keyboard layout to your settings.
2. Try clicking on the applet, and now it should change to the other keyboard
layout, but nothing happens.

Version information:
Gnome-applets 2.17.1-0ubuntu6 in Feisty Fawn.

Sorry for the Norwegian words, but I only got Norwegian language on my
computer.

If there is anything else I can do to fix this bug please tell me.

Re: [Bug 86557] Re: [apport] gnome-control-center crashed with SIGSEGV in g_markup_escape_text()

2007-02-24 Thread sven.nordblad
Hello Sebastien,

This is how I do it:

my_script.sh:
sudo cp local /var/lib/locales/supported.d/local
sudo cp environment /etc/environment
sudo dpkg-reconfigure --force locales

local:
sv_SE.ISO-8859-15 ISO-8859-15
sv_SE.UTF-8 UTF-8
en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8

environment:
PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games
LANG=sv_SE.ISO-8859-15

It would be really nice if there was an new option in the
control-panel to do this kind of adjustments.

And another thing ...

I am migrating from an old red Hat installation but wan't to take with
me my userid of 500 and group-id of 500 which is standard in Red Hat.
However when I add user-id 500 i the control-panel I can add the user
but I can't modify it later since the useradministration menu don't
show lower values than 500. This goes for Ubuntu 6.10 also.

Best regards
Sven

[Bug 87584] Gnome-panel launchers cause shared pgid

2007-02-24 Thread tweedledee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

All applications launched from gnome-panel launchers, menu, or alt-f2
share the same pgid. Gnome developers claim this is not typical
behavior for the panel, so may be a result of an Ubuntu customization.
The same applications launched from the terminal do NOT share PGID.
This is a problem for several reasons (some highlighted in this forum
thread: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=347023):

1. Pressing Ctrl+C in Matlab with shared PGID closes gnome-panel.
2. fbpanel cannot raise applications via the taskbar with the shared PGID (it
can raise applications fine if they don't share PGID). The applications
receive focus, but do not raise. This may also tie into metacity, as it may
not be a problem with other window managers, but again I think it is
Ubuntu-specific. Note that the windows properly receive focus, they just don't
raise.
3. Python's IDLE environment fails to raise the shell window when that window
receives focus (e.g., by pressing F5) after the initial opening. This is only
true if running metacity, e.g., xfwm4 properly raises that window each time it
receives focus.

I submit this as a single bug report, because it appears to be an issue
in how the customized gnome build Ubuntu provides handles raising
windows and sending focus when applications share a pgid (which is
really a metacity problem, but it is compounded by the odd gnome-panel
behavior). This is true at least in release 6.10.

[Bug 68300] Re: adding songs to ipod shuffle doesn't update iTunesDB properly

2007-02-24 Thread will_in_wi
I added a ton of information about this problem directly on the gnome
bug report. Thought it would copy here, no such luck. Anyway if you look
there you can find dumps of the shuffle data structure. This should
allow fixing of the problem even for those without shuffles.

From looking at it myself, I am pretty sure that the problem is that rb
does not write the iTunesSD file. This is a file that is on every ipod
but only used on the shuffle, so other devs have not bothered with it.
So when you open gtkpod it senses that iTunesSD is not written to and
constructs the iTunesSD file from the info in the iTunesDB file.

This would make it shuffle specific. I hope apple in a firmware upgrade
makes the other ipods use this file. It would make all of the ipods
easier to support and force the devs to do it right.

For the record, banshee does write it perfectly, but it does not have
transcoding and is missing the browse feature of rhythmbox and itunes.
