[Bug 150072] Re: nautilus crashed on login with SIGSEGV in g_slice_alloc()

2007-10-08 Thread Brett Johnson
Hmm. I don't even know how nautilus is being run on login, much less
how to start it up under valgrind. AFAICT, I don't see any reason that
nautilus should even be trying to start up. It's not in my session
script, I'm not using it to manage my desktop, etc...

Anyway, I'd be happy to try running nautilus under valgrind on login, if
you can explain how I can do so.

[Bug 133567] Re: nautilus hangs on accessing vfat drives - statfs() blocks for a long time

2007-10-08 Thread Michael R. Head
I've been trying to figure out what the implications are for using the
usefree mount parameter.

Using the drive with some (which? Vista?) versions of Windows doesn't
update the filesystem's free_clusters, and Linux's vfat driver doesn't
know where the data is now written (if it is at all).

So, if I use the drive with only Linux, and older versions of Windows
(which? XP? 2000?), everything will work peachy, but if I use the drive
with some version of Windows, the free counts will be incorrect in
Linux.

Is this a severe problem? What are the implications if this happens? Can
data loss occur, or is there just a chance that incorrect free space
will be displayed?

[Bug 150653] Only one Workspace

2007-10-08 Thread Päscu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Hi

Since yesterday the nice Cube-effect doesn't work anymore on my
unbuntu-notebook.
When I try to enable it System Preferences Desktop Effects then the
Workspaces a reduced to one and the effect isn't working.
The wooble-effect works.
This problem appears since I tried to install the original ATI-Driver. But my
screen flickers with this driver, so I removed it. (Restricted driver manager)
After that, the Cube-effect was gone.

It's also really annoying with the compiz desktop wall in gutsy. You
can't switch to the next desktop as it moves 4 desktops at a time (at
least in my case). I see no work around in compiz or gtk.

It work with newly added podcast, but on some old podcast it's only
possible to remove the file. Removing the file or the feed don't have
any effects on them. I have also many problem on uncompleted feed,
some download crash before the end and resulting podcast must be
removed by hand.

[Bug 150691] Printer installation paper type does not follow locale

When you install a printer in Ubuntu. The paper type remains A4. In
the US standard paper size is Letter the result of this mismatch is
that a postscript printer sees a conflict in paper type and will not
print.

This is a first citing so I would like confirmation.

[Bug 150379] Re: Nautilus built-in search doesn't work if tracker is disabled

2007-10-08 Thread sengo
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nautilus

Nautilus integrated search (CTRL+F) does not return any result without
tracker indexes. I don't need an indexing daemon running all the time so I
disabled trackerd in System - Preferences - Session and disabled indexing
in System - Preferences - Indexing Preferences.
- But every time I try to search through nautilus trackerd is spawned
automatically and I have no results at all.
+ But, every time I try to search through nautilus, trackerd is spawned
automatically and I have no results at all.
Searching through Places - Search file works as usual.
In my opinion nautilus should fall back to the classic (without tracker)
search if trackerd is not installed or disabled.

[Bug 132357] Re: files with unusual character sets are sometimes completely invisible to the driver : locale not set correctly

2007-10-08 Thread palbarra
I have the same problems. My locales are properly set in my box and
/etc/init.d/mountall.sh is fine, and fstab explicitly include locale
option.

However, I cannot see files with accents, etc. in my external hard disk
with ntfs partition; but if I manually mount the partition (with locale
option) I can see them... very intriguing for me.

All this happened after upgrading from Kubuntu Feisty to Gutsy.

[Bug 150733] [gutsy] Nautilus does not show 'free space' on removable drives

2007-10-08 Thread Matthijs De Smedt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Somewhere in the past two weeks Nautilus stopped showing me the 'free

Nautilus shows 'N items, free space:' on CIFS and a local ext3 partition.
It does NOT show 'free space' in the status bar on two removable usb drives

[Bug 150161] Re: Status bar says item will be moved when copying

2007-10-08 Thread cdekter
My apologies - I'm running Feisty AMD64 with kernel 2.6.20-16-generic.
Nautilus version is 2.18.1.

I can definitely replicate this on any partition. I have two drives in
my system - my Linux drive and an NTFS drive. In either case, if I open
a Nautilus window in any folder on either of those drives and select
copy, the status bar immediately changes to that incorrect message.

[Bug 132357] Re: files with unusual character sets are sometimes completely invisible to the driver : locale not set correctly

2007-10-08 Thread Vangelis Tasoulas
So It`s not only me with the problem.
I am at least happy that I am not alone :)

I think that the status of this bug should be changed to In Progress again?
if it is in progress...
Anyway it is still a not fixed bug for a few people.

I think that the only way to be fixed this for all of us, is to set gutsy to
set the locale parameter to the fstab automatically as I mentioned before.
I remember Colin`s reply about trying to avoid creating more things that needs
to be changed when the default locale is changing, but I have not found another
solution so far.

[Bug 147943] Re: [MASTER] broken initial stacking (was: compiz hides quick loading windows at login)

2007-10-08 Thread Mr Freeze
Well, the panel problem persists after latest update, but now compiz is
crashing . I'm running an ATI Radeon 9600 video card, and with compiz
enabled, I have a most annoying flicker. It wasn't there 2 weeks ago.
But then again, the panel problem wasn't there either a couple of weeks
ago. IMO, the two problems are related, since they both started at
around the same time on my system. Anyway, I'm finished with compiz
until the next FIX is released, then I might turn it on and see if it
actually works.

[Bug 150762] Re: Graphic are messed up

2007-10-08 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
