me a fragmented image, or a trashcan, while the remove from the list can

[Bug 162628] X - GDM resolution mismatch after upgrade

2007-11-14 Thread Jonas Bygdén
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I'm helping a friend at work with the upgrade of his laptop, from Feisty
to Gutsy, and after the upgrade the desktop is only 1024x768 (identical
to his laptop screen) - but X detects his external 1280x1024 monitor and
sets up a correct resolution.

It's a bit difficult to explain this in words, I'll try and attach a
screenshot.

I have tried everything I can think of.

- Reconfigured X
- Removed xorg.conf
- tried displayconfig-gtk (in which I'm unable to choose 1280x1024)

This seem to be related to gdm or GNOME and the way it interprets the
X-config.

xrandr reports (correctly) that the resolution is 1280x1024

But for some reason gdm and GNOME only believes that the resolution is
1024x768.

But emblems are not set for the Documents, Pictures, Music and
Video in the default out-of-the-box installation of Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy

Also, they are just a little red circle, you cant figure out what they
represent.

Documents, Pictures, Music and Video folders.

In Windows, there are icons for My Documents, My Music, My

There is static noise when the mic is on. Very low level, but enough
that it needs to be muted when listening with headphones. After muting

[Bug 162678] Ipv6 enabled gdm can't get host correctly in ipv4

2007-11-14 Thread nakee
Public bug reported:

When running ipv6 enabled gdm on ipv4 you get:

gdm[14762]: DEBUG: gdm_peek_local_address_list: Could not get address
from hostname!

This causes gdm not to add the right hostname to the xauthority file.
The problem is daemon/misc.c where the hint is only ipv6 when enabled.

2007-11-14 Thread noddeat
So and what? Two years past and still we don't have this in Gutsy. Is it
a complicated thing to add? It already works in Fedora 8, why not in
Ubuntu?

And also, will it disappear if i upgrade my system to another version
(e.g. 8.04) ?

[Bug 162679] php files get classified as html

2007-11-14 Thread Josh Barrick
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Create a file with the following or similar code in it:

?
session_start();
include('../auth.php');

$dothis=$_GET['dothis'];
$attribute=$_GET['attribute'];

echo !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN\
\http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd\;
html
head
titleConfigure Roll Call/title
style type='text/css'
td.head{
align:left;
cursor:default;
border:1px solid #ff;
}
td:hover.head{
border:1px solid #00;
}
/style
/head
body;
if($attribute='new-entry'){
switch($dothis){
}
}else{
switch($dothis){
}
}
echo
/body
/html;
?

Then close the file, and try to open with nautilus. You get the warning:

Cannot open file_name.php
The filename file_name.php indicates that this file is of type PHP script.
The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type HTML document. If
you open this file, the file might present a security risk to your system.

Etc...

The file contains html, but clearly is a php script. I believe this occurs with
any file that contains a html tag, even including .xls
Because the file is treated as html, the corresponding actions are altered. For
example, opening this file in gedit with syntax highlighting turned on will
reveal the highlighting for html is being used rather than the highlighting for
php.

[Bug 162695] will not play audio from library after changing location to new network folder

2007-11-14 Thread Jeff Traylor :: C9
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

- access to drive (library source) from other machines and applications is
confirmed
- permissions are set for access to library source

- set library source to be a network location; let library build tracklist
- change library source to a different network location

tracks will then not play from new source, and library doesn't build.
Errors accumulate when importing the tracks saying Gstreamer error report a bug.

Resolution:

Manually Delete all tracks in the library. Change library location source.
Close program, open program wait for a bit, and finally the library starts
to build from the newly set location.

[Bug 160714] Re: Please merge nautilus-sendto 0.12-2 from Debian unstable

2007-11-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your work on that. The change are mostly good, you dropped
the description changes though. Could you update the patch to fix that?
There is also no need to keep the previous ubuntu changelog entries

[Bug 96669] Re: [feisty] deleting a song from the ipod only updates the database

2007-11-14 Thread bardic
I don't have that problem. I just select the songs I want to remove,
right click and remove (delete doesn't work... don't know if it's
suppose to). Then empty my bin.

This is anyway I can help target this problem? Such as submitting a log,
or running a script to record data as I interact with my ipod?

[Bug 148701] Re: Search function in File browser does not function

2007-11-14 Thread Gabriel M.
Definitely not a duplicate of bug #150379, which I checked out: I have
tracker enabled. It could be a duplicate of bug #154692 as Nick says
above, but I think we may be facing two different problems here:

1- If you search a folder that tracker has not indexed, the search won't
return anything

2- Even if you search an indexed folder such as your home folder,
tracker search doesn't interpret your search query in the same way
nautilus used to do. As I reported above, it doesn't seem to allow you
to search for part of a file name. It may allow you to search for part
of a word IN a file, but that can get very confusing.

I can't help but think of the legions of newbie users who are being
confused to death right now... I install linux systems for friends who
are really bad for computers, so I know what their experience would be
with this.

[Bug 162705] different wallpapers on each desktop

2007-11-14 Thread Kaare Baastrup
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

It would be so nice if someone could fix this bug, especially now we have
compiz-fussion with the wallpaper plugin
http://gitweb.compiz-fusion.org/?p=fusion/plugins/wallpaper;a=summary

even without Compix it would be nice to set a different wallpapers on
each desktop, an as far as i know kde has been doing this for a while
now.

I will do my best to help, but I don't have any coding skills.
