[Bug 221708] [NEW] Brasero doesn't read tags on added FLAC files properly

2008-04-25 Thread Chris Close
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Using a fresh install of Ubuntu Hardy 8.04, with Brasero 0.7.1-3ubuntu1

When adding FLAC files to burn to a CD in Brasero, the first file added
will have its Artist/Track information read. Files added after that will
not.

Files were added first via dragging a whole folder into the 'New audio disc
project', in which case only the first file had its information read properly.
Files added individually after that did not have their information read either.

[Bug 221716] [NEW] No sound on Toshiba Tecra M7

2008-04-25 Thread cupajoe24
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

Running Hardy Heron 8.04 with a Toshiba Tecra M7, haven't attempted to install
any other drivers (couldn't quite figure out how). It's an on-board sound card,
and by default there is no sound playing out of the speakers nor from the
headphone jack. I am sure that the volume is all the way up from both the
hardware and in Totem. Additionally I ran AlsaMixer and the master and related
channels are up.
Card: HDA Intel
Chip: Realtek ALC262
(as reported from AlsaMixer)

I'm fairly new to Ubuntu though I'm a generally advanced computer user,

[Bug 221710] [NEW] Brasero doesn't order audio files correctly when adding from a directory

2008-04-25 Thread Chris Close
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Using a fresh install of Ubuntu Hardy 8.04, with Brasero 0.7.1-3ubuntu1

When adding FLAC files to burn to an audio CD in Brasero by dragging the
whole folder across and hitting the 'Search Directory' button in the
dialog that appears, the audio tracks are added in some sort of a random
order (maybe the order they appear on the disc?).

I would expect the files to be added in alphabetical order so that you can add
files from the same CD properly. E.g:
01 - Some track.flac
02 - Another track.flac

Attached screenshot of resulting problem.

I wonder if this should be higher then medium. This break affects
scrollkeeper, and possibly even prevents other documentation from being
updated. Additionally it generates an email to users monthly until it
is fixed. It's also been reported multiple times.

Also it's an easy fix, just fix a single occurance of an ampersand.

[Bug 221527] Re: Location in Clock Preferences

2008-04-25 Thread Tom
Sweden isn't that small, I'm sure. GNOME Clock is based on cities (or
whatever, if you specify your own longitude/latitude), but the installer
only asks about the nearest capital city (I assume it lists large cities
in nations where there's more than one timezone).

It would do me no good to know what the weather is like in London, for
instance, even though that's what timezone I selected - Europe/London.
So the current behaviour is correct, I believe.

[Bug 216901] Re: Gnome-panel adds 18 minutes to evolution's calendar events

2008-04-25 Thread Cpt-Falcon
I've just install hardy and the problem is STILL there !
BUT I've found why : Evolution at first start up ask for a time zone, that's
little strange because you do this at Ubuntu's install. But the time zone of
evolution is not the same as Ubuntu. (or Gnome's clock)

I'm in Reunion Island, so it's UTC +04:00. Ubuntu's clock is ok with that.
But in Evolution, Reunion Island is UTC +03:41:52, so if you take your
calculator, we have 18 minutes of difference. That's why I have 18 minutes more
in my panel.

The problem is not only for reunion island, but for many countries, just
look by yourself.

I hope this information was useful, and wait for a patch !

Still present in 8.04 final release. There hasn't been any activity

[Bug 221754] [NEW] intlclock applet crashes when clicking on it with google calendars enabled in Evolution

2008-04-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This is bug is the same as the one reported in:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/202569

In short: In Hardy, clicking on the time/date/weather applet in the top
panel when a google calendar is added to Evolution produces a crash. Not
only does the applet seem to crash but other elements of the panel don't
work anymore, the panel has to be restarted.

I believe it is not a gnome-panel bug but a bug in intlclock because running
gdb on gnome-panel doesn't show a crash.
If someone can tell me which executable is involved, I think I could provide a
backtrace.

I was running 7.10 i386 version on an AMD 64 because of the lack of

with Hushmail java applet).

After upgrading from 7.10 (i386) to 8.04 (i386) I experienced the
reported problem with launching Login Window. The HDD light flicks
rapidly, the starting Login Window icon on the bottom panel
disappears, and the HDD light continues to clicker. After a minute or

Have done this twice, same outcome.

Re: [Bug 221691] Re: Can't move window

2008-04-25 Thread Trond Husoe
Hi there,

After I installed the emerald-thingy I could move the windows. The
problem was present after a fresh and clean reinstall - except for the
Home partition (Which I had to have fresh as I have lots of important
data on that partition).

The desktop effects was set to middle if I remember correctly.

So you could say that the bug is not a bug, but at the same time that if
compiz is enabled that Emerald has to be installed.

[Bug 221795] [NEW] Sidebar forces Totem to grow larger than screen

2008-04-25 Thread John
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

When playing back a music file with a metadata comment (e.g. ID3 comment
tag) spanning multiple lines of text, the file property view of the
sidebar will always force Totem to scale to a height which is large
enough to display all lines of the comment in the sidebar at once. For
lower screen resolutions this often grows Totem beyond the visible
screen/desktop area. As resizing below this height is not permitted, the
playback buttons become unreachable.

Proposed solution: Offer a scroll bar in the sidebar if the maximum
desktop height has been reached and the file properties still do not fit
into the sidebar.

[Bug 201497] Re: GTK file selector dialogue file icons are of inconsistent size

2008-04-25 Thread Jan Rathmann
I also just stumbled upon this problem, it is annoying especially if you are
using a smaller application font size than the default one (e.g. 8 instead of
10).
However, the Gentoo guys seem to have found a way to fix this:
http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoo-x86/x11-libs/gtk+/files/gtk+-2.12.9-filechooser-fix-icon-size.patch?view=markup

I have tested this patch on my Hardy installation (attached below) and
it seems to work fine.

[Bug 202569] Re: panel crashes when opening calender

2008-04-25 Thread jiu
HI,
The reason why I think it's not a gnome-panel bug is that I tried getting a
backtrace using the wiki article on the link you gave earlier, running gdb with
the options as per the wiki (installed debug symbols for gnome-panel, attached
gdb to the gnome-panel process), and when I clicked on the clock applet to get
it to crash, it seems like gnome-panel was still running (see attached
gdb-gnome-panel.txt), hadn't crashed although the problem was there.
I looked at the running processes and some other panel items were running in
separate processes, but I couldn't find one for the clock.
Maybe I'm just not using gdb right, it's the first time I tried it. Let me know
if I need to change something to get a proper backtrace.

[Bug 221849] [NEW] Nautilus crashes when trying to paste files

2008-04-25 Thread Iñaki Calvo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Something is wrong with Nautilus: it crashes when I try to paste files
or folders.

I had been using the Hardy Heron from the upgrade packages and I was
having this problem. Today I installed it from the CD hoping it would
work fine, but it's still wrong...

I've been trying to sort when the problem arises and I've not been able
to find a regularity. I've just seen that I can't paste folders from my
external hard disk to my laptop's without Nautilus crashing; but if I
copy the whole content of the folder, create a folder in my home
directory and paste everithing in, then, it seems to work...

When I try to paste files, some times it works; some other times, it
crashes!

Until I changed to Hardy Heron everything worked perfectly on my laptop.

I hope you have all the information you need about this bug.

[Bug 221849] Re: Nautilus crashes when trying to paste files

2008-04-25 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-
file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where
_my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 220957] [NEW] Fails to see blank CD/DVDs for writing

2008-04-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm using Hardy, with latest updates.

Since upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy, I can no longer burn CDs/DVDs.

Now when I insert a blank CD-R or DVD-R into the drive, the drive spins
up briefly but nothing appears on the desktop. With Gutsy, up came the
options to burn a disc.

Also, if I manually click on an ISO for burning, then it asks me to
insert blank media even though there already is one in the drive.

When I run the cdinfo command from the cdtool package, it outputs,
simply:

no_disc

Exactly the same as when there is really no disc. The eject command
still works.

I've tried two different brands of CD-R, and two different brands of
DVR-R, all gives the same results.

This is probably a software problem. I have just booted Windows XP a
few minutes ago (not done that in months :-), and it detected all the
blank discs fine, bringing up a menu of burn options after I insert
them. I didn't actually try burning.

Then booting back to Ubuntu Hardy (after XP), it doesn't detect blank
discs.

This problem is worst since upgrading to Hardy: all blank media is not
detected. With Gutsy, I did see this problem with one brand of CD-R,
but other discs were detected fine.

The machine is a Fujitsu-Siemens Si1520, and the output of sudo hdparm
-I /dev/cdrom:

ATAPI CD-ROM, with removable media
Model Number: _NEC DVD_RW ND-6750A
Serial Number:
Firmware Revision: 2.42

Kernel is 2.4.24-16-generic (current version in Hardy at the time of
writing).

Any other info required, please ask.
Much thanks.

2008-04-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When the screen goes blank after a white after the screensaver session
when the computer has been idle for a while, I'm unable to recover the
screen. It's just black with the background light on.

The machine is an HP tx1270eo; Hibernate works, suspend doesn't work
(though that's not fully the exact problem here). The difference between
suspend and when the screen goes to sleep, is that for the latter, I
have still access to the system, i.e. I can restart X (and I regain the
screen then), on suspend, I can't do anything. Have tried both the nv
and the nvidia-glx-new driver, both borks.

System is Hardy 8.04.

Me? I didn't do anything to fix the problem, I just reported it :)
Thanks though!
Have a fantastic day.

  Hi:
I just finish the up grade true the actualization utility, after the
restart, some programs failed to initialize, this was one of them, I
followed the window instruction and sent a report, after reading some of the
former comments at this post, I turned Rhythmbox again, and it is working
 just fine.
  thank you any way.

[Bug 206439] Re: smb password protected share cannot be accessed

2008-04-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Lionel, your bug seems to be a duplicate of
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=529365, that was not clear
from your previous comment, that's the issue when everybody comment on
the same bug about different things
