[Bug 194065] Re: Allow me to change the appearance of the cursor

2008-05-21 Thread Bjørn Lindeijer
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 188732 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188732

Uhm, this bug is most definitely not a duplicate of bug #188732. It's
not about whether the cursor blinks or not, but about it appearing as a
block instead of a line.

While we're at it, I'd like to request an underscore style cursor, like
the one used in text mode and the old DOS. But mainly for nostalgic
reasons. ;-)

[Bug 232389] Re: Nautilus Crashed: symbol lookup error

2008-05-21 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

2008-05-21 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 232430] [NEW] Rhythmbox crashes GDM session changing between songs

2008-05-21 Thread Guillermo Pérez
Public bug reported:

Rhythmbox crashes all the GDM session, closing all the X when changing
between songs.

This *only happens if you are on another X session*. I suspect the new
ubuntu changes the device permissions because you are on other X
session. When rhythmbox ends playing songs, closes and opens the device,
so the permissions get noticed, and crashes, and all the GDM session
too!!!

I'm using directly the alsa device on sound properties, because with
pulseaudio I don't get any sound on my speakers. Just after boot I can
get it to work, but it ends not working. With pulseaudio this doesn't
happens, the sound get muted instantly on the change.

Steps to reproduce:
1. On System-Preferences-sound Select your sound device directly, not
Autodetect or Pulseaudio.
2. Open rhythmbox, play a song
3. Open a new X session with another user
4. Wait to the song to finish. When rhythmbox tries to change the song, the
other X session will crash and GDM will re-launch a new login screen!

To get file sharing up and running in Ubuntu Hardy, I recently followed
instructions to install nautilus share. The result is that my the
file browser no longer responds to letter and number keys from the
keyboard.

First I am running a fresh install of Ubuntu Hardy.

Here are my steps:
- right clicked on a folder-sharing options
- clicked on share this folder
- updated nautilus when prompted
- restarted my machine

Following the restart
- mouse input works
- keyboard input (letter, numbers etc) works in the terminal

- In the file browser
  - letters and numbers do not respond in the file-browser
  - the delete and enter keys still respond

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

[Bug 173837] [NEW] 'new login in a window' should use Xephyr rather than Xnest

2008-05-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gdm

I have gdm-2.20.1-0ubuntu1 on gutsy.
1. Select Applications - System Tools - New Login in a Window.
Observe new GDM login window displayed. Good.
2. Minimise GDM window.
3. Maximise GDM window.
Observe the window is white, and not refreshed correctly. The cursor is
visible, and the user is still able to enter a login name.

I am running *without* Desktop Effects (compiz-fusion). Same thing happens with
both xorg nv driver and the restricted Nvidia driver.
The same thing happens if run from the command line, or from the User Switch
Applet (after selecting the 'Create new logins in nested windows' option).

Running from command line with debug enabled:

gdmflexiserver --xnest --debug

I was trying to find the problem. I removed the symbol (and the
spaces - trying to track down the problem - However I do nto think the
spaces made it not work) and it worked.

[Bug 232433] Re: Rhythmbox crashes when updating podcast feeds

2008-05-21 Thread Ralph Janke
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
 2. the behavior you expected, and
 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thanks!

[Bug 157396] Re: Copyng a file to a NTFS drive change the date and the time of the file

2008-05-21 Thread Forrest Samuels
This particular bug IS fixed in 8.04 (and in 7.10 in the backports
repository). There is a new bug in GNOME with the new GVFS that is
causing modified dates to get changed for file copy/move across ALL file
systems. That is bug 215499
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/215499). Using
'cp -p' on the command line or gnome-commander both preserve the
modified date if you are looking for a work around. They are not the
best but they do work.

[Bug 232470] [NEW] Malformed PDF files crashes evince when showing the sidebar thumbnails

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

I think evince crashes when showing malformed PDF files with the
thumbnails sidebar on my Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 Translated in Brazilian

I observe this when I tried to open a Sun PDF document twice. The first
time, evince done it OK. But, when I tried to open the same file again,
it crashed without throwing an error message or any other information.
And now, when I try to open it again, it acts the same way.

One thing I notice: If I disable thumbnail showing, evince opens the
document OK. Once with the opened document if I instruct evince to show
the thumbnails again, it doesn't crashes. It does wrong only if the
sidebar is enabled by default and I try to open the document from

[Bug 225615] Re: Heavy memory leak in gvfsd-http

2008-05-21 Thread Michael R. Head
Confirmed in gvfsd-dav, too.

Reproducable using gnome-user-share on machine 1, and connecting using
network:// on machine 2.
Transfer any file from Public on machine 1
Fire up top and watch the memory blow up.

You'll also find that when the total size of the files copied exceeds
free memory, that the copy process fails and the dav mount must be
unmounted before it can be used again.

I've been hunting through gvfsbackendhttp.c and soup-input-stream.c
(and libsoup itself), but I haven't found the leak yet. Presumably
there's some buffer that's not being freed somewhere after the data is
pulled out...

Guess I'll mark as confirmed.

[Bug 232470] Re: Malformed PDF files crashes evince when showing the sidebar thumbnails

BTW i cannot reproduce the crash with an english or spanish locale.

Hey Sebasian,

I'm sorry to have not responded to you. My hard drive is damaged and also a
second one on a different machine after I installed SUSE on it before switching
to the final release of Hardy Heron. It seems there is some trouble with the
SUSE disck management which make it impossible to load an operating sysem after
Novelles system has been on the hars drive. I'v tried using the WD hard drive
tools and the Maxtor Max blast to re-configure at the lowest level. Still these
drives will not load after installing an os. (they give error loading OS
message)

I'll try again as soon as I can get a new hard drive.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04, but with 7.10 it worked fine.

[Bug 33214] Re: gnome-screensaver restores default color-correction settings

2008-05-21 Thread dashua
I've installed that patch on my Dell XPS m1530 laptop and my Desktop
running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. It works flawlessly. Nvidia-settings
no longer reset after gnome-screensaver is activated.
