[Bug 257519] [NEW] File Roller With P7zip Broken on Rars

2008-08-13 Thread nullack
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

As part of the new changes with Intrepid, gnome has upgraded file roller
to use P7zip. Amongst other enhancements this allows for RAR support via
P7zip out of the box. It is however broken.

a) trying to extract from a rar archive, file roller will fail to
extract and will provide the following:

7-Zip 4.58 beta Copyright (c) 1999-2008 Igor Pavlov 2008-05-05
p7zip Version 4.58 (locale=C,Utf16=off,HugeFiles=on,1 CPU)

Processing archive: blah blah

Extracting blah blah Unsupported Method

Sub items Errors: 1

b) When trying to test a rar achive, a user will also get Unsupported
Method

Basically rar support is broken through file roller.

Ofcourse a user can use the unrar package via the cli as a workaround
until it is fixed.

I get this error only on secured shares. so it can be some seahorse problem or
some thing like this. You can try some unsecure workaround and reconfigure
your samba server with:
security=share

guest ok=yes.

yelp man:convert is not rendered so nicely. All the options are listed in one

A snip:
Image Settings:

  -affine matrix affine transform matrix
  -antialias remove pixel-aliasing
-authenticate value decrypt image with this password

@Roti: It's hard to tell from that debug output which mp3 decoder it's

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: brasero

 Hi,
  bug regarding Brasero.

I choose to make an Audio CD. Browse my mp3, select a set of them, drag
drop them into the right frame in order to import them.

Brasero start to load them correctly, but sometimes it hangs forever in a
state where some mp3s have been loaded and others not.

I've noticed one interesting thing though, in the .xsession-errors file,
 perhaps it can be related:

 (brasero:5849): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_range_set_range: assertion `min max'

This bug happens quite often, if you need some help to debug it let me
 know!

Distro is Hardy up-to-date as of now.

[Bug 257531] [NEW] bad file names (truncated) in iso images

2008-08-13 Thread polo974
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

in iso files
some last char of long file names are truncated. for example:

ubuntu-8.04.1-server-i386.iso, (or alternate desktop, not the playable
desktop, or initial release)

/pool/restricted/l/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24/

3 (long) filemanes (over 4) are shortened
example:

nic-restricted-firmware-2.6.24-19-generic-di_2.6.24.13-19.44_i38
missing 6.deb

same bug for some other files in the same iso file with less or more
missing chars.

the same iso files mounted with Gmount-iso gives good names (but other

[Bug 243769] Re: Hebrew text is broken on gtk text messeges

2008-08-13 Thread Mark Krapivner
But this one has not, and it is pretty serious, as you've just noticed
with a lot of other users.

thing is it's solved in Ubuntu 8.10 - i didn't find any bug that reports this
problem in GNOME's bugzilla and not on launchpad (may be you will have better
luck with it...) so i thought it was fixed in another bug not deliberately.
and of course i might be very, very wrong :)

2008-08-13 Thread Ralph Corderoy

Hi Pedro, Sorry I have only one machine here and it's running 8.04. I
suppose I could try the Alpha CD under qemu or something.

BTW, is this a correct use of the Incomplete status? I gave a very full
description of how to produce the problem in 8.04 but if it remains
Incomplete for four weeks then the next step is to make it Invalid.
That doesn't seem right.

using -R and -J together give badly Joliet result...

to but we can get info from here:
isoinfo -d -i ubuntu-8.04.1-server-i386.iso| grep Rock Ridge
Rock Ridge signatures version 1 found
so use -R

and if not -R try with that:
isoinfo -d -i ubuntu-8.04.1-server-i386.iso| grep Joliet
Joliet with UCS level 3 found
in order to use -J

It sounds like the pam module is talking to the fingerprint scanner and
then doesn't close/kill that resource when the password prompt times
out.

[Bug 257567] [NEW] [Hardy] Evolution badly displays URL with ampersand

2008-08-13 Thread Paweł Tęcza
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Today I've noticed that my Evolution 2.22.3.1 from Ubuntu Hardy badly displays
an URL
with an ampersand sign ('') in the middle.

Please look at my attached screenshot. You can see strange fuzzy 'J' letter
instead of
an ampersand and a name of parameter (top red border). However, the URL
displayed
on status bar seems to be OK (bottom border).

More details:

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1

[Bug 161071] Re: evolution segfault

2008-08-13 Thread Martin G Miller
I am having the same problem suddenly in 8.04. Attempting to click on the
calendars or memos or tasks buttons results in an immediate crash of evolution.
Also clicking the date in the top panel causes the panel to crash and
reappear. Running evolution from terminal shows the following error:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ evolution
evolution-shell-Message: Killing old version of evolution-data-server...
calendar-gui-Message: launch_alarm_daemon_cb(): Child process did not give an
error message, unknown failure occurred
