[Bug 246251] Re: Calendar Contacts Birthdays Anniversaries forgets displaying birthdays

2008-11-11 Thread Little Jawa

Same here, with Ubuntu Hardy Heron.
Did not solve with the upgrade to Intrepid Ibex.

The contacts that are shown seems random. Those that don't appear are coming
up when I edit their information, and disappear again after the next reload.
Most of my contacts have a birthday after 1/1/70.

I'm still searching for a link between those that appear, or those that
don't appear, to try to understand what causes this, but it really seems
random.

Note : I'm using SynCE synchronization tools to have contacts and
calendar synchronized with my mobile. Does anybody else having this bug
do this kind of synchronization (or with a Palm, an iPod or anything) ?

[Bug 296692] Re: Upgrade gnome-session package

2008-11-11 Thread Chris Coulson
Intrepid is already using gnome-session 2.24.1, which should have fixed
your issues (I can't check at the moment whilst I'm at work):

gnome-session (2.24.1-0ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low

  * New upstream version:
- Add GTK and GNOME categories to session-properties.desktop
- Fix leaks
- Rename variable to avoid symbol conflict
- Fix padding and spacing, and make the dialog resizable in
  gnome-session-properties
- Make the strings appear translated in gnome-session-properties

-- Sebastien Bacher [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed, 22 Oct 2008 13:43:22

Are you sure you're not already running this version? Have a look at the
output of apt-cache policy show gnome-session?

Anyway, I'm going to close this bug report, as what you've requested has
already been done. If you have any specific issues with gnome-session,
please open separate bug reports for these issues.

I just downgraded rhythmbox to 0.11.6svn20081008-0ubuntu4 but still no

It could be that I did get more patches at the time I upgraded so the

[Bug 287689] Re: gthumb --import-photos doesn't work in intrepid without intervention

2008-11-11 Thread Martin Pitt
Debdiff for intrepid-proposed. This is a regression compared to hardy
and thus worth an SRU.

** Description changed:

In 8.04 I had configured gthumb --import-photos to run when I plugged in
my camera. (System | Preferences | Removable Drives and Media...).
But 8.10 when I plug in my camera, Nautilus mounts it via gphoto2 vfs
which makes gthumb complain that it can't grab the device.

I can't find any way to tell Nautilus not to mount the camera. I tried
setting the File Management Preferences for Photos to do nothing but
it still does the something of mounting it.

The only workaround I've found is to open up nautilus, unmount the
camera and then run gthumb --import-photos from the command line.

I don't know if this is a bug in hal, nautilus, or gnome-volume-manager.
It's probably not a gthumb bug per se but I'm not sure where to file it
  really.
+
+ SRU TEST CASE:
+ * Install gthumb, plug in a gphoto camera. Choose gThumb in the dialog
about what to do with the device.
+ * intrepid final: gthumb opens main window and selecting File - Import
Photos fails with a device access error.
+ * with proposed fix: gthumb opens import dialog, device access works.
+
+ * Plug in a mass storage camera. Choose gThumb in the dialog about what to
do with the device.
+ * intrepid final: gthumb opens main window
+ * with proposed fix: gthumb opens import dialog

[Bug 64869] Re: GEdit opens java files with C source highlighting

2008-11-11 Thread BigBoy_PDB
This is a confirmation about the problem.

It happened for me as well. The problem is identical to that mentioned
in the post on Ubuntu Forums.

To reiterate, javascript files ending in '.js' are detected as C source
code files. The mime type in nautilus is 'application/javascript' and in
gedit it is 'C source code (text/x-csrc)'.

The beginning of the file starts with a comment of the form '/* ... */'
and a line of the form 'function f(var) {'. Removing the comments causes
the mime type to change to 'MATLAB script/function (text/x-matlab)'.

[Bug 296877] [NEW] clock applet resizes strangely when location time string is too long

2008-11-11 Thread Daniel Kończyk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

It's a very minor issue, but it may be a bit annoying in some special cases.
When a location time information string is long enough the Set... button,
that appears after a mouse moves over this location, causes the whole applet
width to increase and part of the applet becomes hidden behind the right side
of the screen. Please see the attached image for details.

[Bug 285323] Re: Losing keyboard and mouse control when changing screen brightness with fn + arrow under intrepid

2008-11-11 Thread Karl M.
So it is me with Dell Inspiron 5100 again. To answer Lethe's question,
the model is identified as:

 sudo dmidecode | grep 5100
Product Name: Inspiron 5100

I attached the output of dmidecode on my laptop previously, I understand
that most info should be there. Please let me know if you need more
information beyond that.

I recompiled the kernel with the only change being that in
/drivers/input/keyboard/atkbd.c, the line

DMI_MATCH(DMI_SYS_VENDOR, Dell Inc.),

replaced with

DMI_MATCH(DMI_SYS_VENDOR, Dell Computer Corporation),

and now the recompiled kernel indeed does not have any problem with
Fn+Up, Fn+Down keys on my machine. Of course, this kernel would not work
for those Dell laptops which are from Dell Inc.. So it is really about
differences in how these laptops identify themselves.

[Bug 296890] [NEW] Ctrl-S does not save Memos

2008-11-11 Thread raccoonone
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10, I upgraded from 8.04. I'm using version
2.24.1-0ubuntu2 of Evolution.

When I open a Memo to edit it, pressing Ctrl-S does nothing, even though
the menu entry for Save says that it's bound to Ctrl-S. I expected it to
save the memo and close it just like it did in Evolution 2.22

I'm able to reproduce this bug 100% of the time on two different
computers.

[Bug 296900] [NEW] Usenet subscription broken

2008-11-11 Thread Mike Humphrey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution 2.24.1-0ubuntu2 in Ubuntu 8.10
It's not possible to subscribe to Usenet groups in most hierarchies - small
ones work, but anything with more than 20-30 subgroups fail.
To reproduce, create a Usenet account. Select Folder, subscriptions, then the
account just created. Select to expand a top-level group with lots of
subgroups, suck as news or uk. Two sub-items of Loading... appear.
Nothing else happens. The program is not obviously doing anything, no excessive
CPU or disk activity etc. You can un-expand the top level and expand it again,
and it retains the same two sub-items. If you click the check-box next to
either of them, Evolution exits with a segmentation fault. There is no way to
access the actual sub-items of these top level items. It also happens in
second-level items - e.g. expanding comp works, but comp.os has the problem
described.

[Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines

2008-11-11 Thread zcrar70
I forgot to mention, I'm using Intrepid and I wasn't getting this error
on Hardy (though I may not have had the latest version of seahorse or
gnome-keyring, as I had update-manager disabled for a while).

[Bug 295812] Re: eog applet can't view ubuntu 8.10 standard wallpaper warty-final-ubuntu.png

2008-11-11 Thread Procion
It's eog bug, because it must view file headers to open it properly
instead of file extention. It is not a ms windows application!!!

imho file extention means nothing in UNIX-way...

[Bug 296723] [NEW] places menu in panel, folder icons don't change with theme

2008-11-11 Thread captaintrav
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Using tango icon theme, or most other icon themes besides the default
Human icon theme set - Open places menu - bookmarked icons for
standard home folders, Documents, Music, etc, revert to Gnome defaults.
Bookmarked folders show proper icons in nautilus. Bookmarking a network
location (SMB share), shows the correct folder icon from the theme in
the places menu, though. Probably something missing in the theme, but
why does gnome-panel need a differently named folder icon than nautilus,
etc?

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
