[Bug 273294] Re: Rhythmbox can not use samba as library location

2008-11-15 Thread markba
This bug only takes place when using a gvfs connection (smb://...). When
mounting through smbfs in /etc/fstab, it all workes fine. This can
considered as a workaround. Also, title should be changed, more
detailed, Samba it self is not to blame.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I will discribe the steps I am taking and hopefully someone will know
what to do.

I created a folder /home/marion/Vault.
I right click on the folder and select Encrypt...
I get a dialog No encryption keys were found... The program Passwords and
Encryption Keys will now be started... either create a key or import one. I
click ok.
The Passwords and Encryption Keys window opens.
I click the New button at the bottom.
The Create a New Key window opens.
I click PGP Ky and click Continue.
The New PGP Key window opens.
I enter my full name, email address, and a comment. Then I click Create.
The Passphrase for New PGP Key window opens.
I enter the passphrase twice, and click Ok.
The Generation key window opens, with primegen in and a progressbar moving left
and right.
After approximately 4 minutes I get the following error.
bigbCouldn't generate PGP key/b/big
General error
and a close button.

[Bug 298320] [NEW] Since upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10 Evolution can't refresh my folders (imap).

2008-11-15 Thread g00se
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Hi!
My problem is evolution only shows my folder structure of my imap account
(cyrus 2.2; server configuration known to be running; no recent upgrades; auth:
gssapi) and says: Error while refreshing folder. Could not connect to -
Connection refused.

I reset all the evolution gconf stuff and deleted .evolution. Readding
my account results in the same. Furthermore evolution can't detect for
imap the authentification type... but he can connect, cause he asks if
the certificate is valid.

Thanks at all. Hopefully it will be fixed fast, cause webmail sucks.

[Bug 298331] [NEW] Mahjongg's there are no more moves dialog should have a new game button

2008-11-15 Thread botticchio
Public bug reported:

This is a wishlist bug. Now, when in Mahjongg there are no more moves,
it is presented a dialog which allows to press two buttons: undo and
shuffle. Since there is a one minute penalty when choosing the shuffle
option, I choose one of the buttons only to close the dialog, and I
press the new game button, either in the menu, or on the toolbar
(which I keep invisible, by the way).

This, in my opinion, is an usability issue, and it is frustrating.
Therefore I ask if it is possibile to add a new game button directly
in the there are no more moves dialog.

[Bug 292585] Re: Evolution Mail Notification has no sound

2008-11-15 Thread Dirk Meijer
Same here,
I noticed that by changing in Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex System/Preferences/Sound the
other sounds play fine while using Ubuntu sound profile.

When changing the mail alert sound file (wav) and thus changing the
sound profile to Custom the other sounds were also gone.

Changing back to Ubuntu sound profile restored the other sounds, but
still no email alert.

In Evolution the check boxes for email alert is checked and there also I
pointed to the .wav file

I am not sure if this is an Intrepid issue or Evolution.

[Bug 256749] Re: Unable to mount location -- Internal error: No mount object for mounted volume

2008-11-15 Thread seldon7
I can confirm also that the problem remains in 8.10 final.

A bit annoying because I use this machine to stream video to a media
device and every time I boot it up I have to go into the computer, click
the ntfs drive I want to mount, get the error message and then click it
again. I seem to remember that 8.04 mounted the ntfs drive automatically
on bootup which meant I just had to power on this machine and itd do the
rest itself.

I'm also suffering of this bug. Both PulseAudio and Alsa (killall pulseadio)
shows high CPU usage while streaming on Rhythmbox and Totem. On OSS CPU values
are low and normal.
Please note that is not directly related to Rhythmbox but perhaps to Gstreamer.

[Bug 298372] [NEW] battery power criticaly low does not clean shutdown

2008-11-15 Thread eldragon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

using intrepid ibex, same behaviour in hardy

when the battery power is criticaly low, and the gnome power management
setting is set to shutdown. what it actually means, is it powers off the
laptop directly, without doing a clean shutdown. maybe its the correct
behaviour, but it gives me the creeps, and i cannot set it to hibernate,
since it doesnt work on this laptop.

ways to reproduce:

1. set it to shutdown.

2. drain the battery

[Bug 298385] [NEW] Reflow terminal contents when resizing the window

2008-11-15 Thread Markus Amalthea Magnuson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Currently, if I resize a terminal window with text content that wraps, the text
block size stays. The reason for resizing a terminal window with wrapping
content is 99% of the time because I want to reflow the text, to which the only
solution now is to rerun the last command, possibly with different results (=
useless).

[Bug 298397] [NEW] Remove preferences for scrollbar placement and/or disabling

2008-11-15 Thread Markus Amalthea Magnuson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Is it just me, or is it complete usability madness to allow moving the
scrollbar to the left side of the window? Also, allowing to disable it
altogether seems equally non-standard.

What is the rationale for this behaviour?

My suggestion is to put the scrollbar on the right side, and removing
all such preferences. And it should only be visible when needed, as in
most other text fields in most other applications.

[Bug 298412] [NEW] Constant change of side taskbar items height and column split

2008-11-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have my taskbar panel placed on the right corner (see attachment) and
I am used to have many apps open on the same moment.

The problem is that having many items on the taskbar results in constant
split into two columns or height change of the taskbar items (see
attachment), sometimes it suddenly splits into columns on moving mouse
over one of the items and therefore prevents from clicking on it.

I would somewhat expect the items to stay on the narrow height mode and
not to mutate depending on the open task count.

Funny case, when I have some file being downloaded on firefox and the
download manager title is chaning every second due to percentage change,
the taskbar splits into two columns and gets back to a single one
synchroniously with it.

I have Ubuntu 8.10

[Bug 298425] [NEW] nautilus cant open file from 'Places' panel

2008-11-15 Thread Johnson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When running gtk apps like GIMP, and choose File-Open, filechooser
dialog pops up, drag a file lke picture.png into the Places panel.
Now each time when u click this file in the places panel, will go to
the directory where it is held and highlight that file.

open nautilus now, and that file will also appear in the 'places' panel.
However clicking it produces error
not a directory and does not go to that directory where file is held.

Not consistent and confusing to user. Whats the point of having that
item in 'nautilus' if cant acess it.

somtimes also the file in 'places panel' is rendered as a folder icon
too.

[Bug 298436] [NEW] brasero is extremely slow at reading cd

2008-11-15 Thread haddock
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

On my notebook (Thinkpad T40p) it takes Brasero usually around 45 minutes to
read the data of one audio cd's and write it to disc (before I can start
burning). It's much, much faster for me, if I reboot in windows and burn with
nero, or, if I rip the cd to disk using rhythmbox and then burn it from the
compressed files.
Maybe brasero has a problem with my cd-drive? It's been like this with previous
ubuntu installations, and it's still like this with intrepid ibex.

[Bug 298443] [NEW] Contacts print preview

2008-11-15 Thread akoya69
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When using print preview the boxes in which name, family name, given name,
phone number, etc. are too small to take any more than half a phone number. I
can see no way to alter their size and printing a list of contacts to take on
the road is useless with only half the phone numbers!
I am using Evolution 2.24.1 on Unbuntu 8.10
Is there any way to solve this problem?
Thanks!

[Bug 249592] Re: Brasero: hangs during mp3 file loading

2008-11-15 Thread Ralf Nieuwenhuijsen
Can some one please confirm it is even possible with brasero as it is
released with intrepid to burn an audio-cd. Adding mp3 files takes
_FOREVER_. Sometimes, after a minute or someting it finally adds the
file, sometimes it never adds the file and just hangs forever.

I have a intel quad core, with 2 gb of rams. It shouldn't take a minute
to add an mp3 file. Something is wrong.

[Bug 181703] Re: Brasero does not recognize audio CD or blank CD-R

2008-11-15 Thread Brandon Whaley
I'm experiencing the issue in Intrepid 32bit. I was able to burn two
disks yesterday morning (the first two since Intrepid upgrade), however
yesterday evening and today, every blank disk inserted reports 0 bytes
available. The same disks burn fine in Rhythmbox on the same machine.
A reboot did not fix the issue, however after burning with Rhythmbox, I
was able to burn a cd with Brasero again. The next blank I inserted
also reported having free space available, however I do not have
anything else to burn. Is anyone else seeing similar behavior?

[Bug 298469] [NEW] Calander not working properly

2008-11-15 Thread Bob
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

When I try to change a recurring event I am asked if I want to modify
the single recurring event or  all instances related to that event. When
I tick All Instances and then click OK the whole application freezes and
I need to do a hard close of the application.

Many times I open the calendars and an item just is missing. I close it
and open it later and for some reason it is there again.

I can't seem to get the alarms to function at all.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Bob.

I'm having a similar problem. I recently did a fresh install, but at

I've since switched back to the default theme, but my FUSA is still not
working like it did initially (i.e., have all the power management and
shut-down entries). Can anyone help me?

2008-11-15 Thread Chris Coulson
Thank you for your bug report. Could you please post a screenshot of
your F-Spot window after you have pressed the Edit Image button? My
guess is that the left-hand pane with all of the actions is hidden (this
was an earlier bug which is now fixed, but may still affect older
profiles)

[Bug 284663] Re: [Intrepid] X Window System error on startup

2008-11-15 Thread Marc Nozell

I see this problem too and rebooting doesn't resolve it.

The system is up-to-date as of Nov 15 running 2.6.27-8-generic.

f-spot 0.5.0.3-0ubuntu4

Using fglx non-free video driver

BTW, 'f-spot --sync' does not work although it is documented by 'f-spot
--help'

[Bug 298522] [NEW] gimp-svg freezes desktop (when inkscape is also running?)

2008-11-15 Thread zcat
Public bug reported:

When importing an SVG file (two different fairly simple svg files so
far, importing to 'reasonable' resolutions eg 330x310 or 800x1200), GIMP
will cause everything else on the desktop to stop working. I can still
move the mouse and drag windows about but window contents and clock
don't update, I can't open menus or alt-F2 to launch a new program,
close windows via gui or alt-F4.

I can ctrl-alt-F1 to a terminal and log in there. In text mode
everything is still totally responsive, top shows normal CUP and memory
usage, pstree shows a process named 'svg'. If I kill svg and return to
the desktop everything works again.

Originally I thought this was 'random' but after playing around a little it
might depend on Inkscape also being open.
The freeze is not completely random, usually if it's happened once it will
continue to happen for the next three or four attempts and then not happen
again for a while.

And consistent with Murphy's law, it will of course happen when attempting to
demonstrate the ease of use and stability of the Ubuntu desktop in front of a
roomful of people...

[Bug 298525] [NEW] GNOME: Changing an icon on custom launcher is confusing

2008-11-15 Thread Peter van der Meer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When I want to change the icon on a gnome-panel launcher and browse for
my icon, I first have to select the directory containing the icons
(graphics files) and after that get an option to select the actual
graphic.

This is a little bit confusing, since I didn't understood that initially
only directories were shown. It's not really a serious bug, but people
having this confusion would probably click on 'Cancel' rather than on
'Open', effectively failing to select a new icon.

Attached are the browsing screen not showing the graphics files and the
actual icon selection screen that I missed until I found out that the
browsing is for directories only.

I'm runing Ubuntu 8.10. With Gnome version 2.24.1.
