[Bug 112518] Re: Switch User freezes at blank screen

2008-12-03 Thread LukasDegener
Just to clarify this:
Please don't be confused by my previous comments, the problem I mentioned there
is clearly not the same as the one initially reported by Nick B.

The problem I describe above only occurs when I run the RT kernel. (2.6.27-3-rt
#1 PREEMPT RT)
No problems when using the generic one. Also the symptoms are different from
what is described by other comments here. I will file a separate report for it,
once I find some time. Sorry for the mess.

[Bug 304704] [NEW] Changes in gnome-control-center do not take effect after system reboot

2008-12-03 Thread Jesusfreak
Public bug reported:

Since I updated to Ibex a couple of weeks ago sub-pixel hinting is
activated by default. It is possible to switch it off in the gnome-
control-center, but after a system reboot it is activated again. When I
start the gnome-control-center go to appearance - fonts and close it
without making any changes (sub-pixel hinting is still deactivated
there) the deactivation takes effect.

[Bug 304765] [NEW] Evolution mail renames attached pdf's to dat's...

2008-12-03 Thread Peter Schmidt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

First of all - thanx for your great systems !

Secondly, sending mails from Evolution, recently Evolution started to
rename attached pdf's. Both first name and second name is changed, ie a
file named Økonomichef GEO.pdf was renamed ATT10103937.dat. Upon
request from the receiver, I resend the mail, this time attaching
Økonomichef GEO.doc. This file was renamed ATT10103936.doc.

My suspicion is, that one of the last updates introduced this error.

I am using UBUNTU Intrepid, it is fully updated from the repository.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 205018] Re: Hardy - Doesn't detect Firefox 3.0 for web searches and bookmarks

2008-12-03 Thread Mikkel Kamstrup Erlandsen
I think Ohad's solution is pretty much as clean as one can hope for
without an extension needed on the Firefox side... I am a bit worried
about copying the entire DB though.

On my system the places db is about 1mb and I clean my data almost
daily. Moreover as far as I can see the db is updated each time I change
a page in firefox. This will not be good for battery powered laptops...

I may be mistaken though. If the database doesn't update as often as I
assume (fx. maybe only when I actively change something in the
bookmarks), then it is not really a problem as I see it.

thanks to your reproduction of the bug and some research i found a way

The panel will disappear as normal, but you wont have the zoom animation
anymore ; /

[Bug 304839] [NEW] Cannot open .cbz file with # in it over smb

2008-12-03 Thread Syver Enstad
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

I have never had any problems with evince and .cbz and .cbr files
before, but when I tried opening a cbz file with '#' embedded in the
file name it said: Can't open document. Operation not supported
(Translated from norwegian).

If i rename the file, skipping the '#' character evince opens the file
just fine. If I download it from the fileserver to local disk it also
opens just fine. Also using comix to open the file works just fine.

This leads me to the conclusion that this has something to do with
evince using smb and the '#' in the filename. BTW: The fileserver is a
Lacie Ethernet Disc v2, the file is shared over SMB (Windows
Filesharing).

[Bug 304869] [NEW] taskbar groups can't be reordered

2008-12-03 Thread darkweasel
Public bug reported:

Normally, in the GNOME taskbar on Ubuntu Intrepid, you can reorder the
taskbar buttons by dragging them around the taskbar. However, this
doesn't work with grouped windows (such as the 4 spatial Nautilus
windows I'm currently using). It should be possible to drag the whole
group to another place in the taskbar.

For example, this is my panel at the moment:
http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/057bv5kn/BildschirmfotoOberesKantenPanelausge.png
(that's the German localisation, in case you wonder)
I wanted to have Irssi and Firefox at the beginning of the list, so I tried to
drag the Dateimanager button (i.e. Nautilus), but the only thing that
happened was opening the menu to choose from one of the Nautilus windows.

[Bug 302570] Re: g-p-m doesn't save charge and discharge profiles

2008-12-03 Thread Matti Laakso
It seems to me that since the battery does not provide a serial number,
gpm uses 'battery.charge_level.design', i.e., its capacity as the
battery identifier. However, at least on my Eee 901 it seems to change
along with the battery charge level! Therefore gpm thinks that the
battery has been changed.

It seems that the 'battery.reporting.design' is the correct identifier
for the battery capacity on Eee 901.

[Bug 275010] Re: Unable to disable the ssh module of gnome-keyring

2008-12-03 Thread Jeff Powell
I, also, am running Max's workaround. The odd thing is that even if you
do what he suggests in gnome-session-properties, you'll still see the
Gnome keyring wrapper daemon running on the machine. However, it will
stop messing with ssh keys, and the standard ssh-agent commands will
then work to let you manipulate keys in the usual way because ssh-agent
is running.

The GUI lead me to believe I was turning off the Gnome keyring wrapper
daemon, but apparently that isn't what it really does.

So much for truth in advertising. Or something. :)

[Bug 304839] Re: Cannot open files with # in the filename over smb

2008-12-03 Thread Syver Enstad
** Summary changed:

- Cannot open .cbz file with # in it over smb
+ Cannot open files with # in the filename over smb

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: evince

I have never had any problems with evince and .cbz and .cbr files
before, but when I tried opening a cbz file with '#' embedded in the
file name it said: Can't open document. Operation not supported
  (Translated from norwegian).
+
+ This also happens with .pdf files so it seems to just have to do with
+ evince and filenames over smb.

  ProblemType: Bug
  Architecture: i386
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
  ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/evince
  Package: evince 2.24.1-0ubuntu1
  ProcEnviron:
   SHELL=/bin/bash

PATH=/home/username/src/testTNG:/tandberg/system/bin:/home/username/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games

The program 'totem-xine' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 145 error_code 11 request_code 140 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Re: [Bug 272083] Re: Zenity windows appear underneath others

2008-12-03 Thread eleven81
Ladies and gentlemen, instead of adding an argument, --focus, to cause
the Zenity dialog to steal the focus, I believe that stealing the
focus should be the default behavior. Instead, please add an optional
argument, only for use when there is a need to prevent the Zenity
dialog from stealing the focus. This will prevent all who have come
to depend on a Zenity dialog appearing on top of all other windows
from having to rewrite all of their scripts. It seems that the vast
majority of users want Zenity dialogs to appear on top of all other
windows by default. The need for an extra argument should only apply
to the minority of users--those who don't want the Zenity dialog to
steal the focus. Perhaps this argument should be --subdue.

Thank you to everyone who is working on this, for my hat is off to you.

On 12/3/08, zettabyte [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I couldn't get it to focus when using the --scale dialog for some
reason. It's been years since I coded in C so the patch should be
considered a leg up in getting the real work done.

 Hope it helps!
