[Bug 310540] [NEW] usability problems in case of multiple workspaces are in use
Public bug reported: I'm using multiple workspaces (with hot keys ALT-F1...F8 to have similar feeling I had on text consoles before) with Intrepid now (but I had this problem before as well), without compiz. It seems metacity has got some usability problems in case of multiple workspaces, sometimes I have to hunt for windows. If a new window appears somewhere ALT-TAB does not work anymore for a single key press, so I have to hunt for the the new window on each workspaces first, if it is not considered as new window anymore, I can use the desktop without problems then. Other thing: for example with pidgin, if I have the buddy list window open on a workspace I can't get it on other workspaces, first I have to hunt (again) for the pidgin window through the workspaces, I have to close it there (with clicking on the pidgin icon at the notification area), then I have to switch to a new workspace where I would like to have it, and I can open that there then with clicking on the icon at the notification area again. I have some softwares which also has this problem, I am not sure it's the problem of the window manager or these softwares, also I am not sure it can be considered as a bug either, but I think it's a serious usability problem and it makes using the desktop with multiple workspaces a bit hard. Please notice me, if I missed something and it's my fault (eg: some settings are missing or such). Thank you very much in advance. ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- usability problems in case of multiple workspaces are in use https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310540 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Yes, those two seems related. The first one http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340390 points to a field mismatch (icq vs aim), which I would say it's not the real problem since it happens to me using only jabber. The second one, http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=499584, is right on target. The 01PulseAudio sleep hook for pm-utils included in pulseaudio 0.9.10-2ubuntu9.2 does not work if PulseAudio was not started using the full path. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 295111] Re: Brasero crashes constantly when browsing mp3s to burn to disk
I'm getting this same problem, only I can reproduce mine every single time in three steps: open Brasero, click the button to open an audio project, navigate to my MP3 folder, double click on a song = screen goes dark and brasero stop responding. I have to then force quit. Now, I recently noticed that this will happen every single time if I click on an MP3 other than the one at the top of the list first. If I click on the one at the top first, it'll play and then I can stop it and click on some other ones and sometimes even finish a whole CD without it freezing, but sometimes it will freeze halfway through. However, if I navigate to my MP3 folder and click on any file other than the one at the top, it freezes every single time. I'm using Ubuntu Studio 8.10 with Brasero 0.8.2. ** Attachment added: Crash log file http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20668203/brasero.log -- Brasero crashes constantly when browsing mp3s to burn to disk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/295111 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
