[Bug 338989] Re: Evolution crashes on startup unless run with --disable-eplugin
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: New = Invalid -- Evolution crashes on startup unless run with --disable-eplugin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/338989 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 204802] Re: Enh: Scaling support
Regardless of whether its up/down scaling, it's silly to have to switch off compiz to use it - that, too, needs to be fixed, since you can't reasonably expect people to switch off compositing when the very graphics primitives that make compositing possible would also be of use in scaling pixmaps... A most silly (but usable) workaround is to run a WIndows VNC viewer that supports scaling under WINE. On Jaunty, the only notification I had was Battery low, shutting down. I immediatly grabed the cable and pluged it but, too late, as soon as the notifcation is displayed, the shutdown process begin. [Bug 306310] Re: Resume (from memory) goes back to sleep automatically
Steve, I'm just porting our patches to 2.25.91. Is that gnome-power- manager patch still relevant with the recent ACPI? Why was the upstream task marked invalid? Without the acpi-support goo, the change should be relevant to upstream as well? Anyway, new g-p-m now uses DeviceKit-power, so it wouldn't listen to hal events at all any more. Thus I drop the patch for now, and we'll see how it goes. Andy, if you notice that this issue returns in Karmic (or if you enable the ubuntu-desktop PPA with the new g-p-m), please speak up here. Hi all. I have been using Ubuntu 8.10 for some time now and did not notice this bug initially using Ubuntu. I noticed it when using Linux Mint 6, based on U8.10, as it was fairly obvious and annoying as the distribution is otherwise excellent. Recently though it has been happening using U8.10. [Bug 339170] [NEW] Choppy playback with gstreamer apps over pulseaudio links
Public bug reported: I have a Pulseaudio link between two Intrepid boxes. If play raw audio over it with Aplay or Paplay, playback is flawless. But if I use Gstreamer apps—I've tried Ekiga and Banshee—the playback has a chop once in every three minutes or so. This does not occur during local playback, but only when using remote Pulseaudio servers. It is highly annoying; I hope that I could redirect the sound to stdout so that I could redirect it to paplay to work around this problem, because paplay works! [Bug 334377] Re: Lots of country names are missing, showing missing from libgweather in mobile broadband connection wizard.
OK, I finally got my jaunty installation working and was able to investigate this. Fixing this needs a change in libmbca. It's not going to big, but I'm not yet sure how to fix this properly and I don't have time to work on this in at least couple of weeks.. The problem lays in http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/libmbca/trunk/src/provider_thread.c?view=markup where the assistant tries to find country names based on country codes from libgweather database. The format changed with libgweather 2.23.6 and I hoped it would be stable from there on, but now it seems that the format is back what it used to be as the old code works on jaunty. After the name search is fixed there's a little translation related change required. Apparently debian has patched libgweather package to remove the translations from .xml file and to put them in gettext .mo's instead. For future releases libmbca could use resources from iso-codes package and wouldn't need libgweather anymore, but that change is too big for jaunty. ** Changed in: libmbca (Ubuntu) Status: New = In Progress -- Lots of country names are missing, showing missing from libgweather in mobile broadband connection wizard. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334377 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This happens with me too, both on 32 and 64-bit machines. Even after doing a force-shutdown and restarting it doesn't fix the problem...sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, haven't quite figured out how to get it consistently back to normal behavior I fixed it on one machine by deleting the account in evolution and clearing out everything with groupwise in the name in my ~/.evolution folder... [Bug 339228] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon and gnome-display-properties slow down xserver when external monitor added
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon Whenever I plugin an external flatscreen TV CPU use goes up, the mouse jumps around and performance becomes jerky. The external monitor flickers for a while and eventually gives up. Killing gnome-settings- daemon immediately causes the external monitor to display properly. Restarting gnome-settings-daemon or starting gnome-display-properties separately both cause the external monitor to stop displaying. When I tail the Xorg.0.log during these times there are spikes in messages about polling the connected monitors for their display sizes. Below I've included the text I wrote in comments to a similar bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxrandr/+bug/307306) that was eventually traced to gnome-settings-daemon and gnome-power-manager. On a Macbook 1,1 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) Philips 42 LCD television === This g-s-d problem caused me to misinterpret a problem with dual-monitor displays. On a Macbook 1,1 whenever I plugged in a DVI-to-HDMI connector to a flatscreen television (using a TMDS-1 output on an intel card), on hotplug the machine would start to slow down. On coldplug and an unaltered xorg.conf it would attempt to load both displays but the flatscreen would start flickering on and off and eventually stop attempting to display anything. xrandr would show both active LVDS and TMDS-1 connections. Any attempt to use gnome-display-settings would only show a blank application window that could not be closed except by force quit. I had assumed that this was an issue directly with xserver-xorg-intel until I saw this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxrandr/+bug/307306. As of today, killing gnome-settings-daemon immediately caused the flatscreen video to appear and slowness issues are gone. Trying to use gnome-display-settings immediately kills the display and shows the blank window again. Perhaps this points to xrandr and intel, or xrandr and dual-monitor auto-detection? Just to be clear, these are the same symptoms that Chousuke reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxrandr/+bug/307306/comments/37. Running gnome-display-properties will cause the screen to go black until it's closed, regardless of whether g-s-d is running. A clean X session with g-s-d disabled at startup and briefly running gnome-display- properties is the same size as the current log. [Bug 125072] Re: when full-screen, rhythmbox is always of visible workspace.
A workaround for Compiz users is to add Rythmbox to the Fullscreen option of the Window Rules plugin. Make sure to do it on a DIFFERENT workspace, though. -- when full-screen, rhythmbox is always of visible workspace. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125072 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 204802] Re: Enh: Scaling support
Ah, thanks. Still, I hope someone backports it (or I'll just go and try to get the .deb), since I'm not planning to upgrade to Jaunty for a few months yet. -- Enh: Scaling support https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204802 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to vinagre in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
