[Bug 341367] Re: Update to 3.2
Hello Ken, Your opal build lacks several codecs. I know some of them are not suitable for world wild shipping because of patents (iLBC, H263, H263+, H264, MPEG4), still they are *very* useful for interoperability and for quality. I propose the following: build all codecs, and spilt them from the main opal package as they are plugins and move them to multiverse. Ekiga will find them at run time if installed. I also propose you to build a meta package named ekiga-full-non-free including all those codecs to help users find them easily. The audio codec iLBC is in OPAL, no more dependancy. The video codecs H263, H263+, MPEG4 are probably in libavcodec-unstripped-52 The video codec H264 is in libx264-65 There is also the CELT audio codec which is in libcelt0. I'm not sure, but I believe this one is free. Best regards and thank you for the effort. [Bug 260765] Re: DVD playback broken in Intrepid because of resindvd
Resindvd as found in the bad plugins set is missing important features of DVD navigation and is not robust. This is why the project is in the bad plugins set and not the good plugins set. The intent of the original bug was that DVD's would not play at all but in the progress of the Intrepid development cycle that particular problem was fixed. I am unsure if it is worth having this bug report open for an upstream project that is known to be incomplete and unstable - in particular given its not installed by default and also that upstream development seems to be occurring at a glacial pace. amano if you look at the release notes for that release you will see that resindvd changes are not mentioned. -- DVD playback broken in Intrepid because of resindvd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260765 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gst-plugins-base0.10 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 260765] Re: DVD playback broken in Intrepid because of resindvd
This is not about a SRU for gst-plugins-bad since a newer version of this package which was iirc supposed to fix most of the bugs got uploaded in time for intrepid [1], however it did never build correctly because it depended on a newer version of libcelt which was and still is not in the repo. So either there would have to be a SRU for libcelt or the gst-plugins-bad package needs to be changed to not depend on it (if there is a configure option to disable that or by patching the source so the code of the celt-plugin matches the previous version that worked with the older libcelt). As I don't think that many packages depend on celt/libcelt (it is only jackd and gst-plugins-bad on jaunty) I guess backporting the jaunty version of it should be the easiest solution - since disabling celt in gst-plugins-bad might result in other bugs. You have been subscribed to a public bug by Ori Avtalion (salty-horse): Binary package hint: metacity Using metacity 1:2.25.144-0ubuntu1 in jaunty. When a window changes its icon, the window list panel applet updates with the new icon, but the icons in the window decoration and the alt+tab window switcher display the old one. Restarting metacity fixes the inconsistency and displays the same icon everywhere. There are many ways to reproduce this. Here are a couple, just to confirm it's not specific to applications: 1) Open up a new white canvas image in GIMP. The icon in the window list changes to a white rectangle, but the window decoration stays as the gimp logo. Fill the white canvas with black to see the icon in the window list change. Still no change to the window decoration icon. Kill and run metacity again to see the icon change. 2) Open a chat window in Pidgin. Ask the person to change status to Away. Notice the window's icon change in the window list, and not in the decoration. 3) Start OpenOffice and open a document. The icon in the window list should change to a document, while the icon in the decorator will be the OpenOffice logo. ** Affects: metacity Importance: Unknown Status: Fix Released ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: Confirmed -- Inconsistencies when windows change their icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/332624 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 290098] Re: Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion.
thanks my ubuntu did all that it is just that this problem just started I will check mint out for sure though as I run windows before and got tired of the expense of running the os. in five years I have not had one crash, a few freeze ups. and my win XP had to be reloaded or rebuilt numerous times and windows is gone in my book. My wife wants windows on her computer with wireless. I have no problems viewing tube services as you tube. I can't share on a Belkin network so thats a plus for me in mint. The you must be root error will be improved in mint matbe. As it is hard to configure my system in ubuntu. without a fuss! Charles --- On Sun, 3/22/09, Tom Muse tom.m...@gmail.com wrote: From: Tom Muse tom.m...@gmail.com Subject: [Bug 290098] Re: Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion. To: charlesdean2...@yahoo.com Date: Sunday, March 22, 2009, 12:13 AM Charles, I have since moved from Ubuntu to Mint because of a few lingering issues that I got tired of trying to fix. If you want an OS that works 99% out of the box I would try Mint. I know this isn't a fix as much as it is a work around but Mint is built on Ubuntu and they have pretty much set up everything you need for a fully functional OS. In most cases the wireless drivers work right off the bat and you don't have to try to load windows wireless drivers. If you do have to load windows drivers they have a tool setup already for you so you just get the .ini file for your wireless card and you are off to the races. One of the coolest things is that you can play DVDs without having to load additional plugins or codecs and java is already loaded. You can go straight to Youtube without having to load a single thing. http://www.linuxmint.com/download.html Hope this helps. -- Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290098 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- Totem video player keeps playing in slow motion. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290098 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

As it seems this bug isn't a problem of Brasero but rather a problem of gstreamer-plugins-bad. [Bug 346806] Re: gnome-system-monitor does not always show all processes
I can reproduce this under jaunty. 1. Open up gnome-system monitor, Processes tab. 2. View - All processes. 3. Open terminal, execute: sudo updatedb 4. Confirm updatedb is running (ps). 5. Refresh gnome-system-monitor list, updatedb does NOT appear in list of processes. ** Changed in: gnome-system-monitor (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- gnome-system-monitor does not always show all processes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346806 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-monitor in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 342855] Re: [Jaunty] Rhythmbox status displays above wrong panel
I've got a theory what's going on here, but I'm still looking at it. I think it only happens if I hover the cursor fairly low on the icon; in gtk/gtktooltip.c gtk_tooltip_position is the code: /* For mouse mode, we position the tooltip right of the cursor, * a little below the cursor's center. */ cursor_size = gdk_display_get_default_cursor_size (display); x += cursor_size / 2; y += cursor_size / 2; now, since this is my bottom monitor I think that might mean the 'y' position it calculates is off the bottom of the display - what happens when that is later passed to monitor_num = gdk_screen_get_monitor_at_point (screen, x, y); ? (I don't yet know the answer - but I suspect that's the problem) Dave -- [Jaunty] Rhythmbox status displays above wrong panel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342855 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Yes it is disabled at build time, the only way to do network IO now is via gio gvfs fuse. gnome-vfs which was what OOo had been previously using is EOL and will be removed with Gnome 3.0 next spring (2010) so fixing that is or little real use. -- [upstream] OpenOffice fails to open file over ftp when user not anonymous https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36424 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
