[Bug 358017] Re: Answer doesn't allow you to remove replies
I think there is a concern that if everyone can change any posting they've made in a thread then the answers that follow may not make or be completely wrong or even damage someone's system if they are looking through past questions to help solve their current problem. Even a subtle change in a nuance in a question might radically the answers received. I think that once people realise that it's a public forum and that their postings cannot be altered it discourages flaming attacks and rudeness hence encouraging a more family-friendly environment. On the other hand there are clearly likely to be times when it would be good to have a responsible moderator able to edit out certain things. I've not seen any of the possible instances occur in all the time i have spent in here and it's been my experience that moderated forums tend to be quite unpleasant. I think we should expect the level of maturity and caution that we currently have and avoid falling into the traps that this bug could lead us. [Bug 204413] Re: nautilus memory leak
In my testing this bug has nothing to do with the thumb-nailing of media files. To reproduce the bug create a folder on your desktop called bug, now inside the bug folder create a new folder called empty. Open System Monitor so that you can watch the memory usage of nautilus. Now with nautlus go into the empty folder once inside the empty folder go one dirctory up, then go back into the empty folder, do this process about 100 times and you will see that the memory usage of nautilus slowly starts growing. With regards to thumb-nailing, if one has lots of media files in a folder and one goes into that folder, the problem that is seen with memory increase just by going into a empty folder is increased and the problem shows it's self more easily, but the problem does exist even if one does not use any media files. I have tested this on intrepid (amd64) and jaunty (32-bit beta) with all current updates installed, problem still exists. Hardware ranges from desktop system (intel quad core), laptop (intel dual core) and netbook (intel atom) File systems range from ext2 (netbook) ext3 (desktop) ext4 (laptop) I think the bug is a huge problem, because if one never switches off your system, just by browsing around one's computer on a long enough time line nautilus will consume a huge amout of ram. -- nautilus memory leak https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204413 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Looks like comment #32 here: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=577649#c32 and its followups seem to fix the problem. When I remove the inheritance of gobject in GnomeURLopener, the crash goes away. [Bug 358347] [NEW] [Jaunty] Totem doesn't refresh overlay output if Compiz is activated
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: totem I have enabled xv overlay with the -intel driver because the image is tearing without it. It appears again if the whole Totem window is moved but after maximizing and scaling down the result is the same. [Bug 358347] Re: [Jaunty] Totem doesn't refresh overlay output if Compiz is activated
Well, best thing for fixing is to mark it against Ubuntu :) . I don't know, Totem works fine in previous Ubuntu versions with Overlay output. It flickers but it works if the progress bars appeared. It seems to be a gstreamer problem since the gstreamer-properties testing output shows the same behavior. If you move a window over it the place doesn't get refreshed. [Bug 358370] [NEW] Evolution loads mail very slowely if its imap cache is bigger that ~100/150 MB
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution This just simple. Evolution stores imap cache in sqllite database, and it uses single database for whole account. When I start it, it reads all database in mrmory, and this sometimes takes ages. I usually just remove this database. [Bug 358301] [NEW] Totem mozilla plugin stalls if internet speed isn't enough for streaming
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem If I play a video (live or not) in firefox (using totem-mozilla), and for some reason buffer under run occurs, it won't recover. Totem (standalone) start to bufffer, and when done continues to play. Totem in mozilla, on the other hand just shows series of still frames after it done buffering ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Totem mozilla plugin stalls if internet speed isn't enough for streaming https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358301 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 358347] [NEW] [Jaunty] Totem doesn't refresh overlay output if Compiz is activated
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem I have enabled xv overlay with the -intel driver because the image is tearing without it. If Compiz is activated and the full screen view is used everytime the mouse is moved the screen appears black until the progress bar is removed again. If I double click in the full screen window to get a video window the output is also black. It appears again if the whole Totem window is moved but after maximizing and scaling down the result is the same. This doesn't happen with textured video but it is atm no option because of tearing and it doesn't seem to happen wit VLC so I guess it is a Totem problem and not a Compiz/driver one. I am using current Jaunty. 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a02] (rev 0c) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:022f] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx+ Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 2297 Region 0: Memory at fea0 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=1M] Region 2: Memory at e000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] Region 4: I/O ports at eff8 [size=8] Capabilities: access denied Kernel modules: intelfb ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04 Package: totem 2.26.1-0ubuntu3 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: totem Uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic i686 ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- [Jaunty] Totem doesn't refresh overlay output if Compiz is activated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358347 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
