[Bug 411268] [NEW] No thumbnails for RAW files in import dialog
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: f-spot I use to shoot RAW files with my Canon EOS 1000 D (*.cr2). When I connect the camera to my computer (Ubuntu 9.04; F-Spot 0.5.0.3), the F-Spot import dialog pops up showing a tiny thumbnail for each image on the camera. But when I take the SD card out of my camera and plug it into a card reader, the same dialog pops up without showing any thumbnails. This is quite annoying, because the detect duplicates feature doesn't work either. I know that F-Spot can handle Canon's *.cr2 RAW files, so why aren't they shown in this dialog? [Bug 411315] [NEW] Sound Preferences window is unuseable
Public bug reported: [Please fix my package choice]. I'm on Ubuntu Karmic alpha with all updates to date. I'm on a second- generation MacBook. My sound worked perfectly under Jaunty and Karmic until the recent Pulse Audio updates. Now many of my applications are hit and miss - youtube won't play sound but games under wine will play sound. But I'm not complaining about that in this bug report. If I look at my processes under System Monitor, I have about 30 instances of aplay, each of which is using 800, 804 or 808 kbytes of RAM and currently sleeping. I presume that these are sounds that were supposed to play but have failed to do so given the new audio architecture changes. I can kill them manually or using pulseaudio -k. I have selected Sound from my System-Preferences menu to see if I can fix it. It is misbehaving. The sound preferences window has no title and no X in the close button's area. The window is about 3 screens high and cannot be resized. If I select the tabs, the screen is only partially drawn - it's as though it wants to spend about a minute redrawing the screen but it never actually gets there. I realize that the underlying problem is with Pulse Audio, but still Sound Preferences shouldn't behave like this. Screenshots should explain. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Sound Preferences window is unuseable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411315 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 411322] [NEW] karmic regression: desktop icon position of symbolic links are not restored
Public bug reported: After upgrading from jaunty to karmic the desktop icons of folders and files get restored correctly. Symbolic links however get relayouted and fill in the spaces from top to bottom, left to right. This makes the desktop unusable for me as I use a background image that divides the desktop into regions with different semantic meanings and icons in these regions to organize todos and projects. I heavily use links to reference projects and documentation in other folders. How to reproduce: Log in as Guest, create a new folder and create a link to it by Shift + Ctrl + dragging the 'folder' icon to an new location. The new Icon should show an arrow in the top right corner indicating that it is a link. Move the icons to a location somewhere on the right side of your desktop. Now open a Terminal, move it so you can see both icons and issue a 'killall nautilus' (Dont worry about your other user session, the guest user is only allowed to kill its own instance of nautilus). The Folder icon will remain in place whereas the Link icon will move to the top left position of the Desktop underneath any present system icons. Workaround: If anyone knows an application (preferably online) that lets me visually organize my todos and planning for the next week I'd appreciate that workaround :) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- karmic regression: desktop icon position of symbolic links are not restored https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411322 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 404363] [NEW] desktop icons aren't alighned automatically in RTL languages (Hebrew, Arabic)
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi all, In my Mom's computer the localization is in Hebrew, meaning that all menus, folders, and Desktop icons are RTL. As an End-User, every time my Mom downloads something, or drags a file/shortcut to the desktop, the icon doesn't align itself to the grid of the other icons automatically, but instead lands in one area (usually the top right). Yet, the bug doesn't stop there. If that icon is left there, the upcoming icons that will be added to the desktop will land right on top of it, creating a lovely stack as shown in the pic: http://www.ubuntu-il.com/forums/download/file.php?id=27 http://www.ubuntu-il.com/forums/download/file.php?id=26 (credits to Shezif for posting the pics..) Some options are there now in System - Preferences - Mouse, in the Touchpad tab. There's the option to disable the touchpad while typing, and to enable tap-clicks. For scrolling, we have disabled, edge scrolling, and two- finger scrolling, plus a checkbox for horizontal scrolling. If tap- clicking is on, then two-finger taps perform right clicks and three- finger taps perform middle clicks. [Bug 411390] [NEW] Translations: po-python.pot template is missing, existing .po files useless
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp When scanning the import queue in Launchpad Rosetta for issues that need manual intervention, I found the following issue with the gimp package, which prevents a smooth import into Launchpad Rosetta and causes the Ubuntu Translation Coordinators to manually adjust or remove .po files. In the po-python/ directory the po-python.pot template file is missing. Therefore, corresponding .po files cannot be imported into Rosetta and won't appear in the language-packs. If the translations are not used anyways, please consider to remove the po-python/ directory. If the translations should be used, please fix the build script to actually build the .pot file. [Bug 411102] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 Ekiga SIP negociation to echo test timeout after resending INVITE with authentication
Hi, As our server Ekiga.net do not accept private IP, while your registration to it works using a private IP, we suspect something in the path is rewriting packets on the fly at the SIP level protocol (a router?). While rewriting, it might add substantial overhead to the packets, leading to an issue with the MTU limit of UDP packets (I know it sounds over technical, but I also need this to keep track of issues inside bugs reports...). Could you try this to help me find if my hypothesis is correct: In Ekiga GUI, go to Edit-Preferences-Audio-Codecs and disable all of them, but PCMA, go to Edit-Preferences-Video-Codecs and disable all of them, but H261 Now you have only the audio codec PCMA and the video codec H261 enabled. Call the echo test. If I'm right, it should work this time. Can you confirm? [Bug 410555] Re: BuG
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System - About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete.
