[Bug 384062] Re: evince-thumbnailer with a 100% CPU usage
Hi It seems that the evince-thumbnailer cannot be disabled! In gconf-editor I have checked the box under /desktop/gnome/thumbnailes/disable_all - without any effect. Furthermore, I have uninstalled evince, but after rebooting the evince-thumbnailer was still active and thumbnailing like crazy. Isn't there really any way to stop the evince-thumbnailer? [Bug 456057] [NEW] Brightness jitter, look like the brightness key event are constantly calling each other brightness-up, brightness-down ...
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager When gnome-power-manager isn't running the brightness level is stable. I just can't change it using the keyboard shortcut. I can change the brightness level using this command. sudo echo 8 /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness I can also see the key event using xev when gnome-power-manager isn't running. when gnome-power-manager is running, the jitter will only start if I try to change the brightness level. This jitter can go on for hours, or sometime just minutes. (without killing gnome-power-manager) This happened on my MSI U120 laptop, my HPMini 110 doesn't require gnome-power-manager to change the brightness (must be hardwired in the system somehow) so I have no problem with that laptop. [Bug 393854] Re: Update PAM policy to allow password-less logins set up via users-admin
My use case is different. My parents are near retirement and just want a super-easy-to-use computer; that means security via physical access only. Accounts are merely a preference filing system to them. Password-less accounts in the admin group are a questionable thing; but if that's what the system-administrator sets up that is what they have decided to use or their clients have demanded. In that case the accounts should still be able to authenticate. The use case of children, guests, and other password-less accounts should involve removal of the admin and likely some other groups or accounts that never had those groups. Further, it would be -extremely- nice to have an account editing tool that could create new accounts and visually diff existing accounts against template users (such as guest, system-administrator, etc). -- Update PAM policy to allow password-less logins set up via users-admin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/393854 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 454311] [NEW] MIR for seed, gnome-js-common (dependency of epiphany-browser)
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: seed With seahorse-plugins now switched from epiphany-webkit to epiphany- browser as a build-dependency, the 'seed' and 'gnome-js-common' source packages are being pulled into main - I guess because these are what epiphany-browser uses to implement javascript support? So either we need an MIR for these packages for karmic, or we need epiphany-browser rebuilt without seed support. epiphany-browser itself is not included on any media, including the DVDs (it's only a build-dependency of seahorse-plugins, not a dependency), so this doesn't have to be urgently sorted for RC, but we need to resolve it one way or another for final. Assigning to asac as the uploader of epiphany-browser to karmic. Alexander, if you don't have time to take care of this, feel free to reassign. [Bug 456088] Re: Default calendar not default when creating a new appointment
Browsing upstream Bugzilla, I learned that new appointments are created by default to the currently selected calendar, or if no calendar is selected, to the default one (GNOME bug #303296). After testing, I can confirm this is the case. Concequently, the current behavior not erratic as such, but it is a little unituitive especially when the calendar view is not visible -- a common use case: you're reading email and need to add an appointment based on the email you're looking at.
