[Bug 428884] Re: gnome-screensaver-command --poke no longer inhibits screensaver
If it's just a matter of fixing a DBus in VLC, then Ubuntu VLC could just invoke dbus-send via system(). Obviously, that wouldn't work for other packages. And by the way, xdg-screensaver will need to be fixed too, because VLC 1.1 will probably use that. But again, I would not to blame GNOME too much here. Tracking which applications is inhibiting the screen saver makes sense. And if Ubuntu GNOME keeps the old API for backward compatibility, there will never be any incentive for dependent application to fix their code... So of course, the most up-to-date distributions like Ubuntu and Fedora are bound to be hit. If you want to suffer from bleeding edge stuff, you should use Ubuntu LTS or Debian stable really. But of course you will have old stuff with fewer features; it's a trade-off. -- gnome-screensaver-command --poke no longer inhibits screensaver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428884 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 497344] [NEW] Intermittent problem where Paste (alt-v) applies to the wrong line
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit This is a frustrating problem because it is intermittent. I do not know how to recreate it. 1. I select some text in another tabbed document and copy it with ctrl-c. 2. I click over to a another tab to the document where I want to paste the text. 3. I use the mouse wheel to scroll down or up on the document. 4. I click the left mouse button until the cursor is blinking on the line I want to paste to. 5. I hit ctrl-v to paste. Most of the time this works. However, intermittently - no text appears on the line with the blinking cursor. Instead, the text is pasted on the previously highlighted line. I can even have the option 'highlight the current line' active. [Bug 497366] [NEW] Sametime Accounts in Empathy not logged properly
Public bug reported: Create a sametime account, log on and send some messages to other contacts. Log files (chat transcripts) are created using the contact identifier which can be something like CN=John Smith, O=OrgName. Chats sent to John Smith are logged under ~/.local/share/Empathy/logs/acct/CN=John Smith/O=OrgName The Empathy UI for previous transcripts only seems to look in the directory associated with the user e.g. CN=John Smith, so only looks for log files in ~/.local/share/Empathy/logs/acct/CN=John Smith, and the previous conversations tab is always empty. Copying the log files from ~/.local/share/Empathy/logs/acct/CN=John Smith/O=OrgName to ~/.local/share/Empathy/logs/acct/CN=John Smith means they magically then appear in the UI. ** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Sametime Accounts in Empathy not logged properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497366 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 497353] Re: Calculator crashes with scientific format
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. 1) Create a new contact list with 25 unique e-mail addresses 2) When you have created the contact list make sure you have unchecked Hide addresses when sending mail to this list 3)Create a new e-mail and add the new contact list to the distribution 4)Put a subject line in 5)Under the Format menu make sure the HTML radio button is selected 6) Add some text to the e-mail. Add some formatting to some of the lines in the e-mail. Bold something, maybe underline something else 7) copy a table with some formatting out of OpenOffice Spreadsheet and paste it into the bottom of the e-mail 8) send the e-mail, be sure to copy yourself so you can see what has happened to the e-mail 9) I viewed the e-mail in Hotmail, Gmail and Evolution and all 3 show the e-mail as having code with no formatting and no pasted table from OpenOffice In step 2 if you leave Hide addresses when sending mail to this list checked the e-mail will send properly. The same problem happens if you attach a pdf file in step 7 instead of copy and pasting a formatted table out of OpenOffice spreadsheet but I haven't done that in a while.
