[Bug 459940] Re: A few Gnome applications do not start (Could not load classifier cascade)

2010-01-06 Thread Garibaldi
I am running karmic and am also experiencing this bug - uninstalling
frei0r-plugins resolves it. I then built frei0r-plugins from git and installed
it using checkinstall. Now, after running rhythmbox I receive the following
error:
$ rhythmbox
(rhythmbox:18793): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_param_spec_internal: assertion
`(name[0] = 'A'  name[0] = 'Z') || (name[0] = 'a'  name[0] = 'z')'
failed

ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstfrei0r.so

Please either:
- remove it and restart.
- run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.
Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal
Run 'rhythmbox --help' to see a full list of available command line options.

It seems that the offending file is
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstfrei0r.so . Is it possible to replace this
object file with an older version? Is it necessary for openshot to
function?

I am not computer literate enough to follow the instructions that you

pieces. I'm sorry about this, and I thank you for responding in the
first place. I just wanted to let you know

For me to do anything on a P.C., the instructions have to be the same as
you take the screw in the left hand and the nut in the right hand,
bring them together and turn in opposite direction.

Thank's again, and keep up the good work. I know enough to prefer this

[Bug 503710] Re: updated gtk+2.0 package has problems referring to the name of widgets loaded from a builder UI file

Marking the gtk task invalid. It appears to be a fundamental change in
the code that any applications that run into this issue will just have
to adjust for.

[Bug 474102] Re: clock applet freezes for up to 2 seconds at a time

2010-01-06 Thread piratemurray
All right the back trace didn't go as well as I'd like and this is the
first time that I've tried to get one so I might be doing it
incorrectly.

I set up the debugging sources as described and tried to use gdb on
gnome-panel with the assumption that this will provide you the required
logs to use. However I got into some troubles running gdb on a process
that hasn't crashed/ isn't going to crash but is just behaving
strangely.

The log also told me that there were no debugging symbols for the clock:

Reading symbols from /usr/lib/gnome-panel/libclock-applet.so...Reading symbols
from /usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/gnome-panel/libclock-applet.so...done.
(no debugging symbols found)...done.
Loaded symbols for /usr/lib/gnome-panel/libclock-applet.so

[Bug 503464] Re: evolution terminates with seg faults in gnome object lib

2010-01-06 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 503753] [NEW] Auto-hide panel transparency looks ugly on top of windows

2010-01-06 Thread Benjamin Humphrey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When using auto-hide with Gnome Panel and transparency, the transparency
will look good when you're on the desktop or using unmaximized windows,
but with windows maximized, the transparency shows the desktop wallpaper
- not the window underneath and it looks hideous.

As pictures are worth 1000 words, I've attached some examples.

The transparency of the panel should include whatever is underneath the
panel at the time, instead of just the desktop wallpaper.

2010-01-06 Thread Benjamin Humphrey

** Attachment added: Nautilus section with panel showing
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/37492883/panelnautilus.png

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When using auto-hide with Gnome Panel and transparency, the transparency
will look good when you're on the desktop or using unmaximized windows,
but with windows maximized, the transparency shows the desktop wallpaper
  - not the window underneath and it looks hideous.

As pictures are worth 1000 words, I've attached some examples.

+ The transparency of the panel should include whatever is underneath the
+ panel at the time, instead of just the desktop wallpaper.

[Bug 502554] Re: Rhythmbox hangs when a CD is inserted

2010-01-06 Thread f3a97
Hello Seb,

Please close this bug.

Actually I've checked this against another Karmic computer and found
that rhythmbox worked ok.

The hang was probably a broken internet connection, so the album
retrieval seemed to be blocked.

I tried again on the same computer and actually worked correctly also
there.

Thanks in advance and keep up the great work.

[Bug 502568] Re: Improve the navigation bar in Nautilus

2010-01-06 Thread Jordy van Heeswijk
I think he means the following:

Say you have a folder in your home directory called 'parent', which contains
the folders 'child1', 'child2' and 'child3', and you're in folder 'parent'. In
the navigation bar you'll see something like
 home parent
Now in Vista/7, you can press a little arrow next to the 'parent' button in the
navigation bar, which will give you a popup menu listing the folders 'child1',
'child2' and 'child3'. In other words: you can directly navigate to a subfolder
via the navigation bar.
In Nautilus, you have to doubleclick on a folder in the main view to achieve
the same result.

[Bug 420842] Re: Huge memory leak in Rhythmbox

2010-01-06 Thread Aleksandar
Hmm, I've noticed that when i press next song key on my keyboard Rhythmbox is
using aditional memory...
It's the same with automatic shifting the song, Rhythmbox use extra memory for
that!
But, probably that is not the problem because leak is too big.
I'm using Karmic now, and there is no memory leak in Rhythmbox, except
shifting song problem, that was(is) present in Jaunty too.

Seb, to my understanding left-handed mice are working on Karmic /Lucid--
hell, I *use* it. What is still broken, and seems will be so for a
while, is the touchpad, which can only be right-handed. See comment #17.

[Bug 503786] [NEW] HTML formatted GPG encrypted email not properly handled

2010-01-06 Thread Ken Pratt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

If you receive a PGP (GPG) encrypted email from someone using
Thunderbird, and the sender formatted the email using HTML, evolution
will not recognize it as an enciphered block. If the sender chooses the
text format option when writing the email, all is well. I assume
Thunderbird to Thunderbird PGP HTML formatted email works fine. It
would be nice for evolution to support this as well.

I am able to send HTML PGP encrypted email to Thunderbird users without
a problem. I just can't reciprocate. So I require them to format email
to me in text if they want to encrypt - not very neighborly.

Not a bug really, just a cool feature that is in Thunderbird. My
Windows Thunderbird using friends are busting on my Linux again 'cause
of this...

[Bug 502568] Re: Improve the navigation bar in Nautilus

2010-01-06 Thread Jordy van Heeswijk
What I forgot to mention in my comment:

This popup feature especially comes in handy when the user wants to navigate to
a different subfolder in a parent folder.
Say the user is in a folder called 'parent4', and his navigation bar shows this:
 home parent1 parent2 parent3 parent4
If he wants to navigate to a folder in 'parent1', in Vista/7 he can simply
click the little arrow next to 'parent1' and select the desired folder from the
popup menu.

2010-01-06 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Please answer these questions:

 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
 * The setting storage is by document, did you try on the same pdf? did you get
any installation issue

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.
