[Bug 512030] [NEW] Make nautilus-cd-burner depend on gvfs-backends
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus-cd-burner After installing nautilus-cd-burner on my computer (that due to containing only an 8GB SSD drive contains a very minimal installation of Lucid Lynx) the insertion of a blank CD or double-clicking on a CD icon on the desktop resuled in nautilus complaining that it does not know how to handle burn:// locations. A Search in the synaptic package manager's database provided me with the information that this feature is provided by the gvfs-backends package - and installing this package in fact fixed this problem: As soon as a blank disk is inserteda nautilus window opens - and whose contents can be burned to the CD by pressing the respective button. If the nautilus-cd-burner package is supposed to do what I assume I assume I have found a missing dependency. Kind regards, Gunter. [Bug 512028] [NEW] Nautilus handles attempted copying of >4 GiB file to vfat poorly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus The maximum file size on a vfat partition (such as that found on most USB thumb drives) is 4 GiB. So why does Nautilus let me attempt to copy a 4.4 GiB file to the drive, get 90% of the way done, and then finally error out after getting stuck at 4 GiB for awhile? Shouldn't it know from the outset that it's not going to work (because it can find out that the destination volume is vfat) and then throw up an error message at the very beginning, thus saving me lots of time? $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 9.10 Release:9.10 $ apt-cache policy nautilus nautilus: Installed: 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Jan 24 14:05:39 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/nautilus InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release amd64 (20091027) Package: nautilus 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu3 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-17.54-generic SourcePackage: nautilus Uname: Linux 2.6.31-17-generic x86_64 ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- Nautilus handles attempted copying of >4 GiB file to vfat poorly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/512028 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 511980] Re: gnome-panel on autohide shows below application window.
Well... if it's reproducible... don't know, it just happens from time to time. Last few time happened after watching videos in Totem in full screen. Old AWN showed in full screen, and disappeared after moving mouse cursor over and out. After that the problem occurred. For some time I was thinking it has something to do with using Audacious as it's always on (and in tray, unless I'm playing with it's list) when this things happens, but I'm not sure any more. There's nothing constant in what I'm doing that may cause this behaviour, so, I'm guessing it's something I'm not aware of. Don't know if it'll be helpful: I've got normal visual effects turned on, and one screenlet applet set to below. If there's a way to check parameters for my desktop objects that tells what should be kept below and what over or on what layer objects are set to show on, I'd be probably of more help for this, next time this thing occurs. -- gnome-panel on autohide shows below application window. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511980 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 431147] Re: Cannot Unlock "System > Administration > Login Screen"
@ Neal and David - Neither of you have polkit-gnome-authentication- agent-1 running in your session, which is required for authentication to work. This is most likely because you've unintentionally disabled it in System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications. In any case, this is a local config issue rather than a bug, so I'm closing it. FYI - we're hiding polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 from the session dialog in Lucid, to stop users from accidentally disabling it and having issues like this (see bug 509798) ** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- Cannot Unlock "System > Administration > Login Screen" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/431147 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Me too. Nothing happens when klicking the Unlock button. Behaviour: When gdmsetup is started from the System>Administration menu, locally, the button becomes gray when pressed and resumes normal appearance when released. When "gdmsetup" is started from a terminal with ssh X11 forwarding, the button becomes gray when pressed and resumes normal appearance when released. When started with "sudo gdmsetup" and "gksu gdmsetup" from a terminal with ssh X11 forwarding, the button becomes gray when pressed and stays gray/inactive when released. User-admin behaviour, for reference: When "users-admin" is started from a terminal with ssh X11 forwarding, the unlock button is already gray and a text (in swedish that translates to) "Not authorized to make changes". Some time ago I installed awant-window-navigator from repositories, removed bottom gnome panel, and set up top one on autohide, as well as awn. I'm working on laptop, and this configuration uses screen more efficient. Point is, that from time to time (more often lately), gnome-panel was comming from hiding behind application window, and awn wasn't showing (probably same bug) at all. I had to restart awn, but clicking gnome-panel was enough to make it behave correctly. Yesterday I've updated awn to the one from awn-testing ppa repository. I no longer seem to have problems with it, however problem with gnome-panel stayed or even gone worse. It no longer comes behind even if clicked. [Bug 55270] Re: Double-click timeout is not applied to X
Double-clicking still doesn't work for ubuntu 9.10 and netbeans 6.8. changing in ~/.Xresources fixed it - thanks I now believe that change in /etc/X11/Xresources/X11-common would fix it also. I wonder why it takes several years to change this flag in mouse preferences dialog - may be because /etc/X11 changes things for ALL users and mouse preferences are presumably for ONE user? RishiRamraj: You can see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DiskPerformance for general advice on testing performance of a disk and reporting your issue. [Bug 511288] Re: middle button isn't easy for dragging the document
Below are the solutions I can imagine : A. key pressed as mode selector When pressing the shift key, the mouse cursor changes from a hand to a caret cursor. Next the mouse can be used for selection and automatic copy like it is currently doing. B. button mode selector in the toolbar 2 buttons in the toolbar could display the current mode and allow to change it as well. One button could select the dragging mode and stay depressed until the user click on the second button which could select the copy mode. The second button would stay depressed while the copy mode is active. C. Simultaneous operation of 2 previous solutions When the mouse cursors comes over the copy mode button, an help ballon could display that this mode is accessible with the shift key too. When pressing the shift key, then the copy mode button state change to depressed and comes back to inactive state when the shift key is released or the user pressed the dragging mode button. -- middle button isn't easy for dragging the document https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511288 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 511691] [NEW] Nautilus disc burner does not use specified disc name
You have been subscribed to a public bug: OS: Linux Mint 8 Helena Gnome: 2.28.0 Gnome Nautilus: 2.28.1 Brasero: 2.28.2 I'm not sure exactly which package this involves, but the problem I am facing is that when I use the "CD/DVD creator" method of burning to disc with the drag and drop feature in a Nautlius window and then specify a disc name, once the burn process has completed, the disc is named 'CDROM' as opposed the name that I had typed in. To reproduce: 1)insert a blank CD/DVD into the disc drive 2)select the CD/DVD creator option to burn to a blank disc 3)drag a file to the drag and drop area 4)click on the "write to disc" button 5)enter a new name into the 'disc name' section and proceed with the burn. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nautilus disc burner does not use specified disc name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511691 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
