I'm using ubuntu 9.10. I experience a similar problem (rhythmbox randomly stopping playing radio) just at home where I have a not so good adsl connection and a wireless access point. No further changes. * debian/*.symbols - Update symbols files for libgdu0 and libgdu-gtk0. [ Martin Pitt ] * Add 01_delay_autostart.patch: Delay autostart of the gdu daemon for 10 seconds. It is not needed immediately (thus no need to slow down initial session startup) and is not visible permanently (thus it won't cause visual disruptions later on). This depends on the patch in GNOME #608402, and will be a no-op if that's not available. * debian/control: Move udisks dependency from g-d-u to libgdu0, since it's really the library which talks to it. [Bug 453072] Re: Context menu for an USB pendrive shows Unmount, Eject and Safely Remove Drive
@David Siegel I strongly disagree. First of all, advanced users appreciate terminal because it's for them (e.g. for me) faster and more convenient. On the other hand, non-technical users shouldn't touch the terminal. This itself contradicts Your claim. Besides, I find it the best solution to provide default users with as few options as possible which means they don't need an unmount option. If they really want to mount their pendrive again, they can just plug it out and in and it works. If You're an advanced user, You can also do that but You may consider it more convenient to just use the terminal. -- Context menu for an USB pendrive shows Unmount, Eject and Safely Remove Drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453072 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I confirm that this is still an issue in Karmic and in Lucid alpha 2. Typically it occurs when multiple users want to edit a file and therefore make it -rw-rw-rw-. I noticed the same behaviour reported by Lucian: - evince crashes when opening DVI without Valgrind; - it displays fine when slowly opening DVI using Valgrind; - after that the same DVI document still opens correctly when running without Valgrind. From the debugger logs, I see that the ~/.texmf-var directory is used for generating fonts. If I try to delete ~/.texmf-var (rm -r .texmf-var from Home directory) after the above passages, and then run evince for opening the same DVI document, it crashes again. But, if I run evince with Valgrind, then the document opens fine as in the above mentioned steps. [Bug 526449] [NEW] Braille keyboard layout unava ilable in Gnome’s keyboard layout manager
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center In a former version of Ubuntu (I don’t remember whether that was in Hardy or Intrepid), there was a Braille keyboard layout. IIRC I activated it by SystèmePréférencesClavier (SystemPreferencesKeyboard), tab Agencements (Layouts), button Ajouter (Add), tab Par pays (By country). [Bug 453072] Re: Context menu for an USB pendrive shows Unmount, Eject and Safely Remove Drive
I disagree with Michał Gołębiowski... i know the way around with the terminal, but to say that the terminal is more convenient a priori is simply wrong: if we already have a place to manage the eject/umount of the devices, with the users (all users, even advanced ones) accustomated to reach there to perform the desired operation, it's unconvenient to force them to think: oh, right... i want to umount the device i'm seeing here in nautilus, but here i can only eject it... if i want to umount i have to open (if it's not already opened) a terminal and tab the way all to the mountpoint however i agree with the idea of presenting users with as few options as possibile, and if there isn't a better solution i guess that removing it altogether is better than what we have now... maybe (since umount is typically used to repartition/format a volume) it would be good if palimpsest supported partitioning or if gparted made more visible their umount command (right now is in the context menu) -- Context menu for an USB pendrive shows Unmount, Eject and Safely Remove Drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453072 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
