[Bug 552043] [NEW] tracks stop playing, crashing rhythmbox

2010-03-30 Thread tommyss4l
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 10.04
Rhythmbox 0.12.8

Occasionally during play, the track will stop playing. Skipping to the
next song works, but the information for the previous song stays on the
"now playing" area, and the track time does not reset, it stays where
the track that stopped playing was. Skipping again gets the "now
playing" area to update and the track time to reset. One time after
skipping the song that got stuck, Rhythmbox crashed.

@scholli

There is now an option in gnome-appearance-properties to "Reverse The
Button Layout" is specified by the theme. Simply clicking on that will
send the maximize, minimize, and close icons to the right. The button
layouts are now specified in the index theme. The new themes will work
flawlessly with custom layouts (trough corruption) as soon as the
metacity patch lands and compiz is rebuilt. Dust was just updated to
support this as well along with many other nice tweaks.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I just upgraded my June 2009 MacBook Pro from Karmic to Lucid.

The backlight control keys are now handled; the current setting shows up
in the notification area of the screen when I press them. But they do
not actually affect the backlight. Also, there used to be an option to
adjust brightness depending on lighting level in the computer's
environment, but I can't find that option now.

Do you happen to have a media player like rhythmbox running in the

mount your camera making it inaccessible to other programs.

For rhythmbox the solution is simple: disable the MTP plugin.

[Bug 248355] Re: Evince doesn't anti-alias graphics

2010-03-30 Thread Anders Kaseorg
The bug task is labelled poppler (Ubuntu), not poppler (Ubuntu Lucid).
Since the fix is planned to be uploaded for Lucid+1, this marking is
correct.

It would be massively irresponsible to upload a development version of
poppler (0.13.x) to Lucid so late in the LTS release cycle. If you want
this fixed for Lucid, someone needs to backport the appropriate patches
to 0.12.4 and post a debdiff against the current version in Lucid
(0.12.4-0ubuntu2). I don’t know how easy that would be, nor whether
such a patch would be accepted into Lucid after FeatureFreeze, but at
least it would have a chance.

Anyway, my main point is that arguing about the bug status is not going
to accomplish anything.

[Bug 552016] [NEW] two differend cursor themes since last update

2010-03-30 Thread Majestyx
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

after reboot (grub was updated to) i have no (more) boot splash. after

link or a folder on Gnome desktop - cursor looks like my theme. in
firefox (3.6.2.) the same - i have my old style cursor. only in Gnome
desktop shows the wrong cursor theme. i will make a snapshot from this
phenomenon. on the screen shot i see my old style theme?!

btw: my battery applet always flicker twice ;)

[Bug 445123] Re: No GUI option to disable face browser

2010-03-30 Thread Tralalalala
Rick Spencer wrote 21 hours ago:
"This "fix" was uploaded inadvertently, and is buggy. We will revert it at the
next opportunity. We will discuss GDM configuration in detail at UDS. Thank you
all for your feedback and comments here."

The only bug is that the checkbox is unchecked by default, while it
should be checked by default. Looks to me like that's very easy to fix.
I couldn't find any other bugs. This little bug just needs to be fixed,
so this option can be included in the final release of Ubuntu 10.04.

If Ubuntu 10.04 doesn't have the feature to disable the face browser,
I'm not going to upgrade. Showing a list of available logon names is way
too insecure.

Robert Ancell wrote 17 hours ago:
"Note that ubuntu-tweak (http://ubuntu-tweak.com/) provides this functionality."

In my opinion that's not an option for corporate users. An operating
system just has to have this functionality by default. There shouldn't
be any need to use any third party applications, only to disable some
insecure feature.

Robbie Williamson wrote 5 hours ago:
"I ask you to please be sure to follow the criteria defined at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance when setting bug importance."

Importance of bugs on Launchpad is a fail. After all those years this bug is
still at the wishlist:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/11334
That bug really doesn't belong on the wishlist. That's a bug which had to be
addressed years ago.

[Bug 248355] Re: Evince doesn't anti-alias graphics

2010-03-30 Thread Jeremy Bicha
The distinction between fix committed and fix released isn't clear. I
see that the upstream bug was marked fix released which is correct. I
thought the Ubuntu-specific bug should be marked fix committed when the
fix was uploaded or in -pending, and fix released when it is actually
available for people to use. I'm just concerned that this won't be fixed
before release unless action is taken...and inaction makes the Ubuntu
manual look uglier than it should.

This appears to be a wish to not have to enter the complete gmail e-mail

[Bug 532633] Re: [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment

2010-03-30 Thread Pyramid Technologies
Mark, clearly there MUST be enough data here by now, on the Internet in
general, etc, to make a sound decision and back it up with clear and
concise data. Right now this is taking a play right out of ex-president
Bush's playbook... "Stay the course". If we see a "Mission Accomplished"
sigh unveiled before the release, we know the boat is sunk.

I won't request to get any data from you or the UI team as to what
changes (exactly or conceptually) are in mind for the right-hand space,
I've given up on that. I'm trying really hard to not give up on Ubuntu
as I've been a loyal user for years. I'll stick around until the release
and see what transpires; but I'm not going to hack gconf and other
things to try and counter what is done by default for such a major thing
such as the button order and location. I spent way too many years
fighting Microsoft and Windows, I'm just too tired of it all.

I've been working with computers since age 11 in 1978 - (32 years and
counting now at age 43), and I'm perhaps a bit on the lazy and jaded
side. I'm too used to things the way they are to switch. I'm pretty open
to change, but some things that are and have been the core foundation of
many OSes and GUIs, yeah... I'm not going to change that in myself. I'm
too used to it the way it is and I LIKE it there anyway.

[Bug 550574] [NEW] Selection in "Open File" dialog box is not possible after sorting

2010-03-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

In the gnome-sound-recorder, after sorting the files in the open or save
dialog boxes, the selection cannot be made by a user. This isn't just a
sound recorder problem, I've noticed it in Firefox and Glade as well.
But this does not affect all programs, gedit and totem are not affected.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open gnome-sound-recorder
2. Go to File -> Open
3. Sort the files by name, size, or modification time
4. Attempt to select a file or folder
5. Double click on a folder and observe that it does indeed navigate to that
folder

[Bug 551077] Re: gcalctool crashes compiz

2010-03-30 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 463870] Re: gnome-appearance-properties crashed with SIGSEGV in g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__VOID()

2010-03-30 Thread christian elsner
same here. Fresh install of updates, then tried to right-click on the
Background to context-menu the properties. gnome_appearance crashed
before I could see a window. I also have to mention that I was
successfully able to change the background few days ago (before the .18
kernel update).

I just tried to get to open Appearance directly from the Preferences
Menu List. Crashed without opening the window too. Appearance seems
disfunctional at the moment.

Good luck in finding the culprit!

2010-03-30 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I can suspend and hibernate from the logout menu. However, it never
seems to reach that point. I turned off the suspend/hibernate in power
management under screensaver preferences. It still locks up. Not really
sure why. The screensaver runs as it should. But after that it becomes
unresponsive. The hard drive light comes on but the screen is black.
Putting in my password does nothing either. The keyboard does not seem
to make it respond. The mouse does nothing but the light is on. I have
to re-boot.

[Bug 498974] Re: Backlight behaves erratically when changed from keyboard.

2010-03-30 Thread WeatherGod
Wyatt, you are correct. I might have been confused with a different
version. The power manager in Karmic does not allow for one to modify
the "On Battery" screen brightness (except for an option to dim the
screen a bit from the "On AC" level).

[Bug 551727] Re: Control Center menu item missing in Lucid - regression

2010-03-30 Thread Jonathan George
In Lucid Beta:

> At a minimum, we need:
> 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
> problem

Right click on gnome-panel->"System" menu
Select "Edit Menus"
Click on "System" menu

> 2. the behavior you expected, and

"Items" list used to show "Preferences", "Administration", AND "Control Center"
This has been true for the previous four versions of Ubuntu

> 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as
possible).

"Items" list now shows "Preferences", "Administration"
"Control Center" is missing from the list.

This is purely a user experience regression, but the fix should be trivial to
implement.

It would be _nice_ if the menu item were enabled by default. :-)

[Bug 393138] Re: contact list oddities with xmonad

2010-03-30 Thread Martin Ling
Brian,

Further to the above:

If I right click the Empathy status icon, there is a checkbox for "Show
contact list", which is checked. If I click it, it does not change to
unchecked, and the Empathy contact window does not disappear.

How is this not a bug in Empathy?

Re: [Bug 440068] Re: Messaging menu shows entries for users without messages

2010-03-30 Thread Ted Gould
Sounds good. I think that a bug on being able to disable
connection/disconnection indicators would also be appropriate. I think
part of the discussion should be whether that's a per-app setting or a
global one.

[Bug 551929] Re: nautilus crash when using nautilus-tools

[Bug 551953] [NEW] Palimpsest needs some sort of completeion bar for tasks

2010-03-30 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility

I had a dirty drive so decided to use palimpsest to clean it. I get a
nice turning icon to let me know it's doing something how ever there is
nothing giving me a % of how much is done or how far through it is.

type progress bar.

[Bug 500417] Re: nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme

2010-03-30 Thread bastafidli
I have has another occurrence of this problem and this time the behavior
was different. I have logged in and the theme wasn't applied again. I
have started the gnome-settings-daemon and the them came back to
windows. But then I used popup menu on the desktop and have noticed that
the popup menu didn't have the theme applied. So the theme was applied
only partially.
