[Bug 552043] Re: tracks stop playing, crashing rhythmbox
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 440068] Re: Messaging menu shows entries for users without messages
Okay, I made all the changes proposed in the title and description, and #495671 went back to standing on its own. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: empathy + + This bug had originally two parts: (1) the messaging menu showing + Empathy login entries despite login notifications have being disabled by + the user and (2) those entries not being properly identified with a + connected string instead of a timestamp, as the specification in + https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MessagingMenu#Recommended%20behavior%20for%20instant%20messaging%20clients + demands. + + This report will now focus on (1), and (2) was moved to Bug #495671. + + Original description below: The messaging menu frequently shows message entries in the menu for users I haven't sent/recieved messages to/from. My guess is they've come online/offline, and this notification is what ends up in the messaging menu. If these entries are going to show up in the messaging menu, they should be distinguished somehow from ones which actually have messages to read. [Bug 532633] Re: [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment
@scholli Perhaps you have hit on it right there. Make every theme work either with the wacked out max, min, close now on the left OR the proper min, max, close on the right like 95% of the World's computer users are used to. I know about the Dust theme, but I don't care fo it and I don't want to be locked into one theme or a limited number of it. That being said, how would something like this affect applications? Would changing the theme also change button order/location for each application on the PC as well? IF so, then that would be wonderful because then no hacks would be needed and it could be theme-driven and the user could choose. For those of us who use Ubuntu @ home as our only OS, but must work on Windows @ work, we could have it as max, min, close now on the right. For those who use Macs and Ubuntu, they can have it the other way on the left. Now like I said, if it's a global-theme-based change that affects all applications etc, that'd be cool, and in that way, I CAN support such a change. I believe that the current way of gconf editing may break things, or at least cause wacked out drop shadow effects, etc. -- [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

To be a bit more precise: what happened was that after issuing 'startx' the screen would switch mode and the cursor appeared, but the background stayed all black and there it stopped. No disk activity, just a little arrow on a dark screen. Well, I'm still not clear on what broke and why, but managed to repair it by booting recovery mode, choosing a root session and executing 'apt-get install gnome-desktop-environment --reinstall --force-yes' which downloaded and reinstalled some 120+ packages. Probably some dependency in one of the recent updates that wasn't handled properly. Seems ok now, can get into my desktop again. [Bug 532633] Re: [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment
@dashua There is no option to reverse the button layout in the appearance settings off the bat. The only time I have seen this option come up is if you pick either of the two new themes and then manually edit the gconf settings to change the buttons to be on the right side. At this point if you go back into the appearance settings and pick the other of the two new themes it will put the icons back on the wrong(left) side, tell you that the theme was made for buttons to be on the wrong(left) side and THEN give you the option to revert the buttons back to the way you had previously set them up using gconf. It would be nice if they gave us the option to move the icons to either side regardless of where they are set currently and regardless of what theme has been selected. It would be even nicer if they would just concentrate on improving user experience instead of frustrating it for no valid reason. -- [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 552113] [NEW] The gnome-archive manager does not open due to missing libc++.5.so when opening rar-files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: file-roller the archive manager is giving me these clues: rar: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directoryDescription: Ubuntu 9.10 Release:9.10 I was hoping to open a .rar file, but instead the package manager showed me the commanline imput that I do not possess libstd5 anymore. The file seems not corrupt since commandline unrar programs are still able to extract the file.
