Not sure if this helps, but from what I have read, this issue seems to apply to applications which use the VTE widget. [Bug 555113] [NEW] w-lan looses connection after down
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-nettool After I upgraded the Netbook Remixof Karmic Koala (9.10) from kernel release 2.6.31-14 to 2.1.31-20 I have noticed that the wireless network has become noticeably less stable. I have found that after I hibernate or put the netbook to sleep. The unit is an MSI Wind U130. I have found the unit saying it is searching for a connection, but if i click on the wlan item on the task bar, it says I'm already connected. If I open the terminal window, and type ifconfig I can see that I have the right IP address. In some instances I have been asked for the WPA2 code to access the network multiple times, despite my having connected several times earlier without having to give the code. Some updates. After creating the new user i've copied all files of my previous home dir to the new dir and i cannot login again, even with the new user. [Bug 405544] Re: Unable to burn CD or DVD with 2.6.31 kernel
I have a similar issue too. Brasero worked fine this morning to burn an ISO file to a blank DVD. This afternoon I have tried to do the same process to burn a different ISO file and my laptop is no longer recognising media in the drive. The media is the same type of Verbatim 4.7gb blank disk. This is very frustrating as it was working fine until this morning. I have also tried with GnomeBaker but I get the same issue. Basically the disk is not being mounted and the DVD link does not appear on the desktop. I have tried the detect media option in the Disk Utility software but it does not do anything. I did notice that after I burnt the successful disk this morning even after I had removed the disk the desktop DVD link stayed behind although what this indicates I have no idea. [Bug 555139] Re: Cannot enable user
Thanks for investigating the code, but I don't think the line you cite is the source of the bug. This line is only run when changing your own password, which is a completely different case. Furthermore, enabling an account works for me following the same procedure as you. So I rather suspect that changing password is failing on your system, and that explains why the account stays disabled. Could you check that you're able to change passwords, e.g. by running in a console 'sudo passwd testuser' ? If you get a System Error, then you're suffering from bug 546874. [Bug 494394] Re: Cannot login with gdm after upgrading to lucid
I can't reproduce that, also the package bash-completion is installed by default on lucid, also the lines: if [ -f /etc/bash_completion ] ! shopt -oq posix; then . /etc/bash_completion fi are uncommented by default for new users created. I have the gdm package version gdm_2.30.0-0ubuntu3 and I have no problems. The default permissions of the directory for new users created is different than karmic, so this is surely an upgrade-related problem. However I don't think it's an gdm-related problem, because if gdm can't write in the home directory, the configuration files can't be created. Just give the permission to access, write, delete, rename and read the files in the directory. I'm going to mark the bug in gdm as invalid because it isn't an gdm- related problem. ** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid -- Cannot login with gdm after upgrading to lucid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/494394 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
