[Bug 557855] [NEW] gthumb hangs when run to import photos from USB stick

2010-04-08 Thread Stephen Warren
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gthumb

In lucid, when I insert a USB memory stick, something will automatically
mount the USB stick, and then prompt me for which action I wish to take.
I select Open gThumb Photo Import Tool. The USB stick is then
immediately unmounted, and nothing else happens.

ps shows that gthumb --import-photos was run. strace on that process
shows that it is hung doing nothing:

[swar...@esk ~]$ ps auxww|grep gth
swarren 3173 1.6 0.8 25300 9012 ?S00:00 0:00 gthumb
--import-photos
swarren 3181 0.0 0.0 3320 784 pts/0S+ 00:01 0:00 grep gth
[swar...@esk ~]$ strace -p 3173
Process 3173 attached - interrupt to quit
restart_syscall(... resuming interrupted call ...

Manually running gthumb --import-photos from an X terminal with the
disk mounted produces the same results (gthumb hangs).

Re: [Bug 552505] Re: Evolution opens and freezes. No folders shown

2010-04-08 Thread Chas IRONS
Pedro, Thanks for your advice. I read the instructions at

http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash to upload the backtrace.

My version is Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS \n \l

1. My Linux skills are not good enough to do all that.
2. As this email proves, Evolution is behaving normally again. Maybe I just
needed to power down and reboot?
3. The last line of the instructions
How do we remove all this stuff after getting the trace and get back to a
normal system?
scares me too.
4. If the problem repeats I will get a friend to help me do the backtrace.

I am looking forward to the next LTS version. Ubuntu 10.04?

Thanks again for super software.

Thanks for the report, there's no way to fix a bug without the proper
information which was not added to this bug report, please try to obtain
a backtrace of that freeze following the instructions at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace
(as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in
tracking down your problem. Or try to reproduce the same with Lucid.
Thanks.

[Bug 557893] [NEW] Jabber account 'resource' not properly setup when Empathy starts

2010-04-08 Thread Aleksander Morgado
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

My Jabber account info has my *nickname* in the resource field. AFAIK,
the resource in XMPP allows the same person to be for example logged in
twice in two different places with same username, but different resource
name.

The issue here is that initially, the value in the resource field is
not applied when I login the Jabber account. I can see it because I
auto-login to several rooms, and my identifier in those rooms is
something like r...@server.com/Full Name instead of
r...@server.com/nickname.

If I want to have my nickname as identifier, I need to go to the account
info, go to the resource field, modify it (even if it was ok
previously), and then disable and enable the account. After that, my
identifier in the rooms will be r...@server.com/nickname as expected.

[Bug 24430] Re: connect to server feature don't manage NFS shares

2010-04-08 Thread Peter Bell
If I browse 'Network' with the file manager on my Eee PC (running
Xandros, also Debian-based?) all machines on my local network hosting
NFS shares are shown, and I can navigate to any of those shares. I have
not created any mounts on the Eee PC, so it is truly capable of browsing
for shares.

I presumed that Nautilus, in Ubuntu (I'm running 9.04), should be
capable of behaving in the same way, especially since the Help system
tells me : To access UNIX shares, double-click on the Unix Network
(NFS) object. A list of the UNIX shares available to you is displayed
in the file manager window.

This is what I do under Xandros, but Ubuntu doesn't show an NFS object.

Metacity/gnome-window-decorator supports .svg, so this is entirely
possible. Besides, having blurry buttons is still better than having
tiny buttons that are next to impossible to click.

[Bug 452059] Re: brasero crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()

2010-04-08 Thread Alessandro Lazzari
No, behaviour in Lucid is completely different.
When you add the files, Brasero gives an error prompt for each file in the
list, then prompts for missing codecs, providing a list of downloadable ones,
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg, gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3, gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly;
(no crashes)

case 1: you accept to download the files.
   - Brasero downloads the codecs and dependencies, and terminates
saying that the downloaded plugins are not enough to proceed.
   - Start another project, add files, and everything works.

case 2: you refuse to download the files.
- You're stuck (of course)!
- Start another project, add files, and Brasero won't ask you again
to download the codecs, and you're stuck again.
- If you close Brasero and then open it, it will correctly prompt
for codecs again.

In general, if you should later uninstall one or more of the needed
packages, eg. gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly, Brasero won't anymore realize
that it's missing, and it will never prompt for codecs again, returning
the error prompt for each file in list.

[Bug 558304] [NEW] No ringtotne on incoming calls

2010-04-08 Thread dokubuntux
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ekiga

I have a problem with ekiga, similar to the invalid and closed bug
#382652, but because it's only a similar problem and not the exact
problem, I open this new bug report:

I run ekiga 3.2.6 on ubuntu 10.04 lucid beta 1. If there is an incoming call, I
can see the windows with the options to accept or reject the call, but ekiga
does not play the ringtone (/usr/share/sounds/ekiga/ring.wav - default setting,
I did not change it).
In ekiga's preferences window, there is a button for playing the selected sound
(for incomming calls, for the dialtone and so on). The sounds for the dial tone
and busy tone are played, but ekiga does not play the sounds for incomming
calls, new voice mails and new instant messages.

I just had a look into the folder, and all the sound files exist and can
be played (in contrast to bug #382652) with totem without any problems.
But whyever, ekiga does not play them.

2010-04-08 Thread Martin Pitt
NoOp [2010-04-06 16:31 -]:
 Modified custom.conf to:

 [daemon]
 AutomaticLogin=laptop

If you don't actually have a laptop user, this doesn't look healthy.
How did it get there, was that damaged this way with System -
Administration - Login Window? Or did you add it by hand?

rebooted and the session results in bringing up the standard gdm menu
list. Selected gg-main and it goes into the loop. Ctrl-Alt-F1 to console
 - log in as gg,

So is your user gg or gg-main?

 - 'sudo nano /etc/gdm/custom.conf',
 - change from 'laptop' to 'gg',
 - 'sudo stop gdm' and then 'sudo start gdm'
 - back into user 'gg' desktop.

This looks like it worked?

For some unknown reason, the screen resolution has been modified during
the upgrade process to an unsupported value.
I changed the screen resolution according the monitor's specs and the
 login loop problem disappeared.

Ah, that would explain it, too. You can try deleting
~/.config/monitors.xml, which will not touch the resolution during
login any more.

Admittedly I'm still confused about this bug. There are several
reporters, several situations with various valid and invalid login
names, and now the screen resolution issue...

[Bug 558325] [NEW] can't generate a PGP key on Ubuntu 10.4 beta1

2010-04-08 Thread Stéphane List
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

Seahorse is stuck in the progress bar while generating key

In the task I can see :
gpg --enable-special-filenames --batch --no-sk-comment --lc-messages
fr_FR.UTF-8 --lc-ctype fr_FR.UTF-8 --status-fd 23 --no-tty --charset utf8
--enable-progress-filter --display :0.0 --gen-key -- -24

I've tried gpg with those options, and it seems that the option --
batch blocks gpg.

[Bug 556790] Re: 10.04 Beta does not detect hotplugged Sansa Fuze

2010-04-08 Thread Martin Pitt
When you reported that bug, did you have the microSD card inserted?

Two storage devices were detected when you filed this bug. One seems to
be just a drive without any media (/dev/sdc), the other (/dev/sdb) is an
unpartitioned drive with an 8 GB FAT partition, UUID 0123-4567. I
suspect that /dev/sdc is the SD card reader, which was empty? And
/dev/sdb is the internal storage. It is recognized as a media player,
but gvfs does not seem to mount it. Can you please plug it in, open a
Terminal, and copypaste the output of

  udisks --mount /dev/sdb

?

[Bug 558345] [NEW] found text and marked text don't match in gjots2 pygtk app

2010-04-08 Thread Rolf Leggewie
Public bug reported:

I'm assigning this to pygtk because I assume this is not a gjots2 issue
but a gtk issue. Looking through gjots2's dependencies, pygtk seemed
like the most likely candidate. Please reassign freely.

gjots2 has a search function. It does find the patterns just fine. But
as you can see from the attached screenshot, the marked text is off to
the right by about 10-15 pixels from the actual text.

I can use ping tap immediately.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Belarusian keymaps for X11 (/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/by):
1) try to override backslash with slash for the BKSL button
2) cyrillic ones do not provide the Ukrainian_ghe_with_upturn symbol (ґ) which
is used in Belarusian language. It could be mapped as primary 1st and 2nd case
symbol for the BKSL char, moving \ and | to 3rd and 4th case respectively
3) 3 in cyrillic ones should be mapped to № (numero sign) instread of # (number

[Bug 558348] [NEW] Xorg, GNOME: Keyboard Preferences displays non user-friendly erorr

2010-04-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I try to remove a keyboard layout from Keybopard Preferences and
when there is a syntax error within the layout configuration (no comma
between 2nd and 3rd cases: key TLDE {[ Cyrillic_io,
Cyrillic_IOapostrophe, asciitilde ] };) the
following error is displayed. It does not allow indentification of the
real reason.

Error activating XKB configuration.
It can happen under various circumstances:
- a bug in libxklavier library
- a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
- X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation

X server version data:
The X.Org Foundation

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd

Xorg logs are not very helpful, too:

I upgradet from 7.10 to 8.04 and with 7.10 it worked fine.

[Bug 558353] [NEW] nautilus copies DirectoryIndexes instead of directories via WebDAV

2010-04-08 Thread Benjamin Dörr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When trying to dragdrop a folder from a dav:// location nautilus
doesn't copy the folder and it's contents, but instead it copies a file
with the folders name containing the DirectoryIndex (HTML CODE) for the
folder, provided by the server.

I don't know why this happens, same server works fine when copying the
folder to clients with Win7, Vista, XP and also when trying to copy it
via console (cp -r ~/.gvfs/WebDAV on XXX/FOLDERNAME/SUBFOLDER
~/TARGETFOLDER) it copies the folders contents just fine, so the bug
must be in nautilus somewhere...

Error occured on Ubuntu 9.10 and previous on any nautilus release until
now

[Bug 531173] Re: New Lucid keyboard layout indicator does not indicate current layout

2010-04-08 Thread axx
On an up to date version of Lucid Lynx beta I still have this problem.
I have a text description of my layout in the notification area, but it stays
on Fra when I switch between different versions of the French layout (in my
case azerty and bépo dvorak), rendering it useless as looking at the indicator
won't tell me layout the keyboard is in.

If I add another language layout (say USA) then the indicatior does
switch between one language and the other, going from Fra to USA, but
still fails to go from Fra to Fra2 to USA.

On a side note, on-hover bubble info shows the proper info about the
layout.
