[Bug 557855] [NEW] gthumb hangs when run to import photos from USB stick
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gthumb In lucid, when I insert a USB memory stick, something will automatically mount the USB stick, and then prompt me for which action I wish to take. Re: [Bug 552505] Re: Evolution opens and freezes. No folders shown
Pedro, Thanks for your advice. I read the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash to upload the backtrace. My version is Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS \n \l 1. My Linux skills are not good enough to do all that. 2. As this email proves, Evolution is behaving normally again. Maybe I just needed to power down and reboot? 3. The last line of the instructions How do we remove all this stuff after getting the trace and get back to a normal system? scares me too. 4. If the problem repeats I will get a friend to help me do the backtrace. I am looking forward to the next LTS version. Ubuntu 10.04? [Bug 557893] [NEW] Jabber account 'resource' not properly setup when Empathy starts
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: empathy My Jabber account info has my *nickname* in the resource field. AFAIK, the resource in XMPP allows the same person to be for example logged in twice in two different places with same username, but different resource name. The issue here is that initially, the value in the resource field is not applied when I login the Jabber account. I can see it because I auto-login to several rooms, and my identifier in those rooms is something like r...@server.com/Full Name instead of r...@server.com/nickname. If I want to have my nickname as identifier, I need to go to the account info, go to the resource field, modify it (even if it was ok previously), and then disable and enable the account. After that, my identifier in the rooms will be r...@server.com/nickname as expected. [Bug 24430] Re: connect to server feature don't manage NFS shares
If I browse 'Network' with the file manager on my Eee PC (running Xandros, also Debian-based?) all machines on my local network hosting NFS shares are shown, and I can navigate to any of those shares. I have not created any mounts on the Eee PC, so it is truly capable of browsing for shares. I presumed that Nautilus, in Ubuntu (I'm running 9.04), should be capable of behaving in the same way, especially since the Help system tells me : To access UNIX shares, double-click on the Unix Network (NFS) object. [Bug 452059] Re: brasero crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()
No, behaviour in Lucid is completely different. When you add the files, Brasero gives an error prompt for each file in the list, then prompts for missing codecs, providing a list of downloadable ones, gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg, gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3, gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly; (no crashes) case 1: you accept to download the files. - Brasero downloads the codecs and dependencies, and terminates saying that the downloaded plugins are not enough to proceed. - Start another project, add files, and everything works. case 2: you refuse to download the files. - You're stuck (of course)! - Start another project, add files, and Brasero won't ask you again to download the codecs, and you're stuck again. - If you close Brasero and then open it, it will correctly prompt for codecs again. In general, if you should later uninstall one or more of the needed packages, eg. gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly, Brasero won't anymore realize that it's missing, and it will never prompt for codecs again, returning the error prompt for each file in list. -- brasero crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452059 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 558304] [NEW] No ringtotne on incoming calls
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ekiga I have a problem with ekiga, similar to the invalid and closed bug #382652, but because it's only a similar problem and not the exact problem, I open this new bug report: I run ekiga 3.2.6 on ubuntu 10.04 lucid beta 1. If there is an incoming call, I can see the windows with the options to accept or reject the call, but ekiga does not play the ringtone (/usr/share/sounds/ekiga/ring.wav - default setting, I did not change it). In ekiga's preferences window, there is a button for playing the selected sound (for incomming calls, for the dialtone and so on). The sounds for the dial tone and busy tone are played, but ekiga does not play the sounds for incomming calls, new voice mails and new instant messages. I just had a look into the folder, and all the sound files exist and can be played (in contrast to bug #382652) with totem without any problems. But whyever, ekiga does not play them. When you reported that bug, did you have the microSD card inserted? Two storage devices were detected when you filed this bug. One seems to be just a drive without any media (/dev/sdc), the other (/dev/sdb) is an unpartitioned drive with an 8 GB FAT partition, UUID 0123-4567. I suspect that /dev/sdc is the SD card reader, which was empty? And /dev/sdb is the internal storage. It is recognized as a media player, but gvfs does not seem to mount it. Can you please plug it in, open a Terminal, and copypaste the output of udisks --mount /dev/sdb ? ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- 10.04 Beta does not detect hotplugged Sansa Fuze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
