Sorry. The problem persists, in that I seem to be unable to actually change the monitor configuration with gnome-display-properties. It is interesting that nobody else has chimed in, I wonder if this is caused by something else in my setup? (I'm not running Gnome, but using the Xmonad WM with gnome-panel. Does g-d-p need gnome-session or something like that?) Nope, probably isn't related to #483900. The problem isn't in g-p-m, but in the pm-utils script /usr/lib/pm/sleep.d/01PulseAudio. That scripts mutes everything on suspend and unmutes everything on resume without any conditionals. Yes I've tested leaving it for over an hour to charge afterwards each time before unmounting it from Rhythmbox, from the desktop and from the desktop using the Safely remove option. No difference in each attempt. Every time the file has been transferred fully and the db files' timestamps updated as shown in the attached screenshots. Well all the ones in gvfs-mount.txt with the label (Greek/Roman names). There is also floppy fd0 which I don't have but shows in the sidebar. I'll have to check the DVD one because I'm not on that computer at the moment. Mind you all the partitions aren't mounted at boot (those listed in gvfs-mount). As I stated above I edited a policykit config file to allow anybody to mount them without a password. Another thing is that they are all NTFS volumes.
