I have this issue too, I use two keyboard layouts: US and DE (German). Although US is at the top of the list (I believe this is how the default is set), sometimes the layout changes randomly to DE; usually when switching apps (although Separate layout for each window is disabled). [Bug 560782] Re: add panel won't work till new login
I can confirm the issue. It seems to be a screen refresh problem or something similar. Steps to reproduce: 1. Log into GNOME. 2. Open any window and maximize it (this step is not mandatory, but a maximized window is useful to see the effects of this bug). 3. Right click on the top panel - New panel. Result: the maximized window is narrowed from the right edge. The desktop can be seen throughout the space of the right, where the newly created panel should be. Clicking in that space is like clicking in the desktop, so it seems to be no real panel. I need to logout and then log in again in order to see the new panel. ** Attachment added: Just after creating a new panel (it should be displayed at the right, but there's none) http://launchpadlibrarian.net/45297500/Pantallazo.png -- add panel won't work till new login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/560782 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 532633] Re: [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment
scholli, I will quote a part of a post from respected computer journalist: Here's another quick observation - at risk of stirring the pot on the controversy about this change. While working with the RC last night, I realized that I had already pretty much gotten used to the window button location, and it wasn't disturbing me as much as it had been. In addition, I see a small benefit in it because of the way that I normally work with multiple windows, when I Maximize/Restore/Minimize windows, the buttons tend to be more easily accessible, and seem a bit more convenient. That is clearly a question of personal taste and work habits, but my point is simply that this change is not the end of the world as we know it source: http://www.zdnet.co.uk/blogs/jamies-random- musings-10006480/ubuntu-1004-release-candidate-available-10015605/ -- [Master] Window Control buttons: position/order/alignment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 370619] [NEW] Wishlist: Display visual feedback for xkbd layout change using notify-osd
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop It would be great if Ubuntu applied the feature enhancement filed here ( http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=567880 ) to a future release, hopefully Karmic. I am nudging at this again in Launchpad (the opposite direction of the usual!) since really this works best with the wonderful notify-osd. It makes sense for Ubuntu specifically and not as much for the GNOME project with the more complex notification-daemon. The idea is that every time the user changes his keyboard layout, a confirmation bubble should appear to explain it. * This would really help users who actually do routinely change keyboard layouts to select the correct ones. It is not obvious to add the Keyboard Indicator applet to the panel, but there is really no other option to get visual feedback at the moment. * As I have learnt from experience helping people with Windows, manufacturers in some countries (particularly officially multilingual ones) ship operating systems with multiple keyboard layouts available. Users tend not to expect this, and become confused if they accidentally trigger the layout change shortcut since there is no feedback to explain the matter (as when they change volume, for example) but their keypresses become hopelessly mangled. * A step towards the system documenting itself as it goes, instead of the user needing to read manuals / consult the geeks downstairs. This is important, because down the line it lets distributors of Ubuntu customize it, perhaps with alternative keyboard layouts available out of the box, without generating any issues. Other minor thoughts may spring to mind, such as that it just feels right and notify-osd looks pretty :) ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon Importance: Unknown Status: Confirmed ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: Triaged ** Tags: ayatana notify-osd -- Wishlist: Display visual feedback for xkbd layout change using notify-osd https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/370619 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 569786] [NEW] Lights turn on/off where the mouse is, not where the mouse was clicked
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-games It's unfortunately common to have an application not respond instantly to clicks and other user actions, especially on lower end machines (cell phones, machines more than a year old, etc). While waiting for the application to catch up, one might move the mouse around, or even work on another application in the mean time. Lightsout handles this situation very poorly, ultimately registering the click wherever the mouse is at the time the application catches up, rather than where the click was originally made. This still happens on the Lucid as of today, I get a prompt to install toc2cue, which seems to be absent from the repo's, not sure how to fix this. [Bug 569789] [NEW] fellswoop uses bad choices for constrasting colors, making the game unplayable for the red-green color-blind [regression]
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-games Specifically, there is no contrast between red and green tiles, which is usually caused by designers attempting to maintain the same brightness between all colours: choosing a lower intensity of green so as to better match the red. (ff is darker than 00ff00, and both are lighter than ff). An option to use shapes would be ideal, indeed the previous version had the option of planet images which provided very effective texturing cues in addition to colour. Failing that, a better band of colours would alleviate the problem, taking more care to introduce contrast. This is probably easier to implement given the new feature of selecting the number of distinct object types. [Bug 545529] Re: Can no longer tag/set properties on multiple images
Thank you for your bug report. Given your report it seems the problem exists only in version 2.11.2 and not in 2.10.11 (the Karmic version). Due to problems with the 2.11.2 version it was decided to downgrade the version in Lucid to 2.10.11, so your problem should no longer exist if you upgrade your system. Please reopen the bug by setting the status to New if the problem reoccurs. ** Changed in: gthumb (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Can no longer tag/set properties on multiple images https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gthumb in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Given your report it seems likely that the problem exists only in version 2.11.2 and not in 2.10.11 (the Karmic version). Due to problems with the 2.11.2 version it was decided to downgrade the version in Lucid to 2.10.11, so your problem might no longer exist if you upgrade your system.
