[Bug 603451] [NEW] empathy -h does not start hidden

2010-07-09 Thread Stephen Rees-Carter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I have added empathy -h into my Startup Applications list so Empathy
is always running when I login. The -h used to force it to load without
showing the window, but it is now showing the window on login - which is
annoying.

I am running 10.10 i386.

Is there anything else I can provide to help debug this?

[Bug 599169] Re: evince cbz support is broken on evince-2.30.3-0ubuntu1

2010-07-09 Thread Juanjo Marín
#27

Variate, Evince can open cbr files but it needs the unrar or unrar-free
package for opening cbr files

unrar is a no-charge proprietary (freeware) program by RARLABS
unrar-free is free (as freedom) software by the Gna! project for decompressing
rar files, however, it doesn't manage the lastest versions of the rar format,
so it can't open all the rar files.

Your practice of re-compressing cbr into cbz files is not so bad,
because cbz is a much more open format than cbr.

Sebastian, Omer, thanks for the input. I am not sure to understand. The
empathy GUI dully marks me as hidden--as long as I click 2x on the
Hidden button (the fist selection is ineffective as reported in the
bug).

Do you mean the Facebook contacts can see me, even though my status is
marked as hidden on my end?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting. I have classified this
bug as a bug in gnome-settings-daemon'. If you believe that I have
chosen the wrong package, please change the bug to the correct one.
Since you are not using the most recent Ubuntu release, someone could
ask you to try with it to see if the problem is still present.. Good
luck on getting it fixed!

[Bug 603289] Re: no login possible, xserver crash when pressing login

2010-07-09 Thread Thomas
I have the standard gdm greeter with only a login button. Once I press
this usually the login field appears to enter a username. But If I press
this button now the whole xserver restarts. Sometimes it crashes and a
new instance on the same screen 0 is started. Sometimes it is started in
a consecutive screen and the old one only remains with a cursor in it.

sjoerd it is
om26er sjoerd, 'encryption required (TLS/SSL)' is for?
sjoerd then it's mandatory
sjoerd but we always turn on encryption when the jabber server supports it
sjoerd As we don't have good certificate checking and some servers (e.g.

is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at

2010-07-09 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 602932] Re: status change menu entries disabled after setting status to logged out

2010-07-09 Thread Daniel Kessel
I could reproduce it performing the steps mentioned above:

Reproduce:
1. Add messaging accounts to empathy
2. select status available
3. select status logged out

that gives me disabled status radio buttons and is reproducable.

[Bug 540280] Re: openssh (or gvfs) asks for a password everytime I change directory in sftp

2010-07-09 Thread Reiner Jung
I am experiencing this on a 64-bit installation even after a clear
install. So it might be a 64 bit problem. However, I have no clues how
to analyze this problem. Is there any information available which
explains the auth stuff of gvfs and gnome-keyring/ssh etc.
